@tom whoose the prop in the show was actually a modified version of a tom baker sonic toy, so it does make sense that they look the same, don't you think?

I wish it was just a bit more tattered and worn and after years of the Doctor using throughout the Time War, like he built upon it and added new features. Kinda like River Song's future screw driver or something a bit steam punk inspired.

I like this, but it is just so similar to the 4th doctors one,mist literally the same, but with a light in place of the bullet shaped emitter and a weird red thing stuck on the bottom...

I believe the Eighth Doctor just used the 4th Doctor's screwdriver. There is another one used in the audio adventures, but the Trans-Temporal screwdriver appears to be very similar, so it's my headcanon that the Eight Doctor may have used that.

Chance Wake The Eighth Doctor's Screwdriver was similar to the Fourth's but featured a different sliding mechanism and a copper ring on the handle. CO are planning on releasing this model, but have chosen to put a switch instead of the sliding activator. The version in the audio adventures was created by a Weta Workshop artist to tie in with the new concept of the Eighth Incarnation of the Time Lord.

PathFinder1490 well this one would be plastic-ey like the 10th uv pen, but it's an almost exact prop replica considering the prop was just a modified version of the 4'th sonic screwdriver CO toy.

Isn't it better for the toy to have more sounds. This is a product aimed at children who like them for role-play. What you think doesn't necessarily make it true. There are more sound effects as that is what the producers of the replica have given us.

Why do they call it "The Other Doctors Sonic Screwdriver" its "The War Doctors Sonic Screwdriver"

The Doctor went by an alias known as the Other. This is likely the name the Time Lords gave him during that incarnation, since he wasn't known as the Doctor during that time.

Likely because it is above all else a children's toy, and people get squeamish about using the word "War" around kids.

The first sound is used when Hurt scans the door. It's a subtle variation of the buzz sound, but accurate.
