I love the anime so much, especially Adachi to which I could relate. But if the anime fails in one thing, that is to make Shima seem deeper than she is in the anime. She looked like she's a flat character especially in the first few episodes. The light novel shows how Shima truly cares about Adachi.

I'll definitely have to read the light novel then! Hitoma Iruma is great at writing, so I'm sure it'll be good.

I don't think that Shimamu is flat character in the anime. I mean sure lot of her monologue is cuted from the anime but i still understand what shee feel or what she thinking. Even find it funny when i read the novel and Shimamura have the same reaction that i do when i watched the anime. (Cuz the anime cut her reaction) Well i guess i just really relatable with Shimamura..

You made me want to watch this anime again. Even with the "sometimes distracting" fanservice, this anime was a tender and wholesome story not about two girls falling in love, but a story about two girls growing into each other and making choises that headen them into be ready to love and be loved.

It is such a good series. Some of the fanservice is a little annoying, but I'm glad it really wasn't too immersion-breaking. I'm glad my video made you want to rewatch it because it's well-worth the rewatch. Thanks for the comment!

I feel like Adachi and Shimamura don't tell each other that they want more than just friendship to not destroy their relationship

That definitely plays a role in how they interact and build their relationship. It's really interesting reading the light novels now and seeing more of Shimamura's perspective

this anime is so relatable. I feel like me and adachi have a lot in common. I don't have friends and is socially awkward. In my new school i am starting to have a friend, she opened up to me that her best friend once told her that she easily get used to people. I asked if she have a boyfriend she says she dosen't get too deep. At school we didn't talk she was always with her friends. But when it's just the two of us we really connect. She is really great with people, her smile shines, she's funny, she is quite intelligent too. When i watched the anime, im surprised it was so simmilar to me and her. Based on personality. The difference is that she was trying to be my friend by starting a conversation with me for the first time then inviting me to the canteen with her. This time im going to show my interest by suggesting to go to her house. Its not natural for me to do this. I feel needy for even asking it. I'm used to being alone so asking to hangout is a weird feeling for me im unnasure. I'm also confused if i have any romantic feelings for her or just platonic. I kept thinking of her in class. And once dream of her (not kissing though😅) in the dream i was trying my best to save her but she turn out to pass away. Yet i don't feel any butterflies so i don't know.

This is now one of my favorite light novel adaptation. It have some edit compared to Novel but it's still really good. There is another Shoujo Ai series that i really like that have the same problem. It's called Maria-sama ga Miteru. I recommend to you if you haven't seen yet. (Also one mor thing about AdaShima. For some reason i really want watch remake of this made by the studio called Shaft.)

Oh boy, with all Adachi to Shimamura videos I've watched this was a true masterclass. Specially how you pinpoint the strengths of Iruma Hitoma, be case be on Sayaka's or Adachi's case. But how you ultimately express all those topics into such a compelling way.

What can I say? Each week while AdaShima was airing I’d rewatch all the episodes, and then I read all of the light novels I could get my hands on (eventually Yashiro’s viewpoint is revealed!). Always looking for another Yagakimi. One of my goals in learning Japanese was to be able to read the 3 Regarding Saeki Sayaka novels in Japanese, but maybe I’ll just go the translation route, since Japanese is taking longer than I’d hoped. In the anime it was a neat touch to have her name come up in kanji, on the Nagoya train station banner even although she generally insists on writing it with kana.

I started reading AdaShima too! I love Iruma's writing in and it's just as strong in the Sayaka novels as it is in AdaShima.

Does the Adachi to Shimamura manga goes further than the anime? If so, what chapter should I start at?

I’m not sure about the manga but the light novel definitely does. As for where to start, probably volume 3 or 4 of the LN.
