Could live single, absolutely clueless of the drama, loves the MC for his original characteristics, picks herself up on her down time. **I ABSOLUTELY DON'T** ship her with Aqua at the moment because my god he needs a wake up call. He suits Akane for now because their relationship is a cycle of red flags that need to be stopped, the baggage is a cherry on top too. Kana was willing to communicate if not because of Aqua's incessant avoidant personality and everyone else's slyness, the only person she actually was able to communicate to was Mem (underrated girl too). Kana bring realism to the story and if not of her character people probably found the manga really boring consider her character balance the plot of the story. Her character is always about humanity struggle in corrupt society that encourages lies and its already being said by Ichigo Saitou (Ai manager) that "in entertainment industry everyone lies even if they don't want to " in episode 1 or chapter 2 of the manga. That's why I'm intrigued with her character whether she gonna finally break like Aqua, Akane, Ruby and Ai that have to lies to gain popularity or not.

Kana I feel as if Ruby was able to settle down or if Ai never died basically someone whom is sunny and innocent. Aqua wants to keep that innocence and doesn’t want her to deal with all that mess which is his life. She’s a bright, confident borderline arrogant girl but she has a sweet that shines bright as the morning sun you don’t want to take that away. Which is why I feel like she is taking so many Ls in the story despite her being such an amazing character. Akane is I feel like the most understanding of Aqua himself. She gets him, she’s pretty much on another level her detective skills are on/ and maybe even better than Aquas. Personally, I'm waiting to see more Kana, the scandal arc really solidified her as best girl for me.I loved how she was able to stand up on her own even when she was yelling for aqua at first. I find their dynamic to be more fitting for their age and just so wholesome and fun. I feel like Kana pushes Aqua to find the fun in acting but thinks that he doesn't deserve that. Even Akane knows that Aqua is smitten with Kana. And that Aqua is using her because she has the ability to immerse herself into Ai's shoes which he needs to find the killer. The manga was confusing cause it’s obvious Kana is endgame but dammit Akane was a RIDE OR DIE. There was so much focus on her. Like she deduces herself that Aqua was AI’s secret kid. Aqua straight up tells her he wanted her to find a corpse and she was all ‘oh that makes sense’ and then she literally FINDS AQUAS FATHER AND ATTEMPTS TO MURDER HIM so that Aqua wouldn’t be burdened and when she finds out Aqua was spying on her she (rightfully) throws a fit but tells him she would have LET him. I like both I really do, they have their qualities. The thing is when Aqua is with Kana I feel like he acts more like he did before all the trauma. Akane and Aqua are more intense. After reading till chapter 116, I think as a character it's a better ending for Akane if she never ends up with Aqua. Their original relationship was built on multiple lies, not just the fact that Aqua was using her for his revenge and she was trying to hide what she found out about the killer but also the fact that both Aqua and her knew that he was trying to use the relationship to move away from Kana and never talked about it. And I don't know what is normal for anime fans but Akane literally went to kill a man because she wanted Aqua to not do it, that's not even a red flag, that's a whole ass red billboard with black lettering screaming Girl don't be stupid. I think they bring out the worst in each other and it's even more sad for Akane because she's the one who is in love with Aqua (God I hate the harem trope) Kana on the other hand doesn't even know how fucked up Aqua even is but Aqua clearly sees her as a light at the end of the tunnel that he can never reach. The mangaks never really focussed on their relationship beyond the "oh she's in love with him and he's slowly falling in love with her". Any judgement on Kana's relationship with Aqua can only happen when we see her reacting to the revelation of Aqua's goals because clearly Akane is as deranged as Aqua (and if Kana ends up saying "I'll help you kill this guy" this manga better end with none of them getting into a relationship my God)

SPOILERS!! So the BIGGEST Difference here for me is that, Akane helps Aqua to find his Father so that he can kill him, even if Aqua doesnt want her being involved. Akane supports Aqua's revenge that she is WILLING TO KILL HIS FATHER BY HERSELF So that Aqua could achieve his goal and avenge Ai. While Kana, is the LIGHT To Aqua's life. She will probably save Aqua from pursuing revenge and tell him that revenge isnt what he actually wants, instead its something else (Still not sure abt this tho, but I hope Kana will be useful to Aqua in some way.) EDIT: Okay Kana probably wont be the one who will stop Aqua from revenge bc in Chapter 116, Akane fr said that she is the ONE who is gonna stop him. So its gonna be a Akane vs Aqua thing, but I hope Kana would help either Aqua or Akane. I tend to side with the text of the story. And the story has a 3rd character Aqua whose opinion on either girl is key. And hia opinion is fairly obvious. Even Akane knows its Kana. And Aqua did basically say he's in love with Kana at the restaurant even though she missed it.

Obviously Ai Is the best girl but If I had to chose between Akane or kana I would have to chose Kana, yes I love the tsundere type of characters I also connect with characters like akane but something about Akane just says no to me. I’m not sure if It’s cause I can’t relate to her at all or I just don’t like her It’s her clinginess that stops me from loving her, of course Akane and Aqua both SPOLIER! Liked each other (they broke up at ch 99?) I’m not saying that Aqua didn’t really love Akane cause they literally kissed each other It’s the way he acts with both Akane and kana. With kana Aqua becomes a bit like his old self and you can see how he cares about kana when mem-cho goes to him asking the reason why he’s avoiding kana and Aqua has a full on break down telling her what If fans find out she has a boyfriend and comparing he situation to Ai’s situation. Yes he’s afraid of That happening to anyone close to him but even someone mentioned that Aqua was smitten by kana I’m not sure if It was ruby or Akane but one of them definitely clarified this accepting the fact. Kana Is also a more relatable character to the audience having to step down so that someone (In her case Akane) can shine in the spotlight, we get a flashback where she says Akane was a pain in the butt when she was getting fewer roles which is why she decides to give Akane all the spotlight and not even try at all. That’s when Akane steps in and complains to Aqua and they both try to push her out of the sidelines, seeing this boosts kana so much she decides to step out of the side lines, she’s even made Aqua question his liking for Akane (before they were dating) and says something along the lines “now I’m sure I don’t like Akane” (sure buddy 💀) and Is seen unintentionally doing her best and shining when Aqua Is around. Another thing that makes me like her more Is when she try’s her best to get over Aqua telling her about dating Akane and eventually makes up with Aqua telling him she won’t like a guy that’s already dating someone after reconciling with him accepting the fact all she can do Is be happy for them but then reverts to her Aqua simping personality after he tells her he’s not dating Akane anymore. Akane: Akane Is a type of character where only few can relate to which Is what makes her character unique, she likes to take grab of any information she can get and this Is shown while she’s trying to act like ai to impress Aqua (though I’m pretty sure kana already did that two times without nothing but moving on!) She doesn’t really show up that much If you think about It so That gives me less time to grow my affection for her. There for in my opinion kana Is the best girl while Mem-cho Is close second and Akane very close to mem-cho

While Kana is what you call a Moral ascending character arc. Her character arc story is always about redemption, overcome her flaw and weakness to become a better person from when she first introduced. Aka sensei build up her character each arc to show how she overcome her flaw and weakness and it gave a huge pay off for her character in chapter 103.

Hated Akane at the start but she grew on me immensely lol so far, I find her the best girl at the moment, a close second to Ai(she's my fave and her charisma is undeniable) Kana on the other hand, I couldn't like as much as I wanted to for some reason. Great analysis video! A bit off topic, seeing the Tokyo Blade arc reminds me on how Aka-sensei use battle shounen sensibilities on his , at least, last two works. I don’t Kana is simple but truly the most normal out of all the main characters. Obviously Aqua and Ruby aren’t normal but Akane having detective skills isn’t the most normal thing for a teenager. And currently in the manga Kana is the brightest and cheerful character considering she the only main character not in the freakin revenge plan thankfully. Because of this it makes Kana the more relatable character because her goal is be become a great actress and that it and shes actually mental tough enough to be able to achieve that. Not only that but even when Kana really cares for Aqua, but her whole world isn’t revolved around him. Which is a healthy mindset in general. I think that’s why I really appreciate about Kana is that the mentally sane, focused and still a teen who make mistakes.

Also in early chapter she always need Aqua help to boost her confidence but in chapter 103 she realised that she her obsession, feelings and dependency’s to Aqua is unhealthy and decided to stand up for herself rather then waiting to be save by someone. Plus I like that chapter because Kana is basically in her lowest point of her life and that moment show how strong is Kana mentally than every character in this series.

She’s slow finding to balance of supporting rest of the cast and crew but also go full out acting with the eyes on her. And as a person who is trying to find meaningful and true relationships has been hard for Kana. Aqua was the only person as a kid that was truthful with her and still treats her a normal as Aqua can be. Kana throughout the series has shown that she truly is the most sane and emotional stable person. I was so happy when Kana finally decided to quit acting and become a full time actress again. One because I want see more of her acting but also to get away from Ruby. Since Ruby been on the revenge plan, Ruby has viewed Kana and Memo as tools for her plan and they have taken the backseat in the idol group. And I really hate it because Ruby is a completely different person and not someone to be around and Ruby is surprising worse then Aqua.

The only thing I see is she's a cute girls who's trying to get famous and have feeling for Aqua cuz Aqua did a great performance at he first act back then, surpassed her own. So she was attached by him since. So later on they met again and became more close. For me Aqua did like Kana for sure, but in the end chose to dating Akane. Because he had truama from Ai incident. He didn't want person around to get in danger because of him. And he's still got revenge thing to do, so he felt binded to that feeling. I dont hated Kana, but didn't like her either. I got it that the mainstream like her since she entered the story before any other female around our twins stars. So ppl tend to basically ship her to Aqua, cuz she too being obivious about liking him. As a tsudere of course lol. At the opposite side with Akane. I begins with taking no interest in her from the reality show. The turning point is when Aqua chose to save her, because I think he saw or could understand her at that situation. After that Akane trying to make him happy by using her ability to got into information and as an actress. She's smart and talented enough to revive Hoshino Ai back to live in herself. But is not like she's Ai either. There're different and from there I starten to following up manga more. Its so interesting when some characters developed or surprising us like Akane did. After downside of Akane she try to understand Aqua and help him or even let him took benefits of her. And she knew it from the start. Idk if there is love between these to characters, but I prefer it more then Kana x Aqua. Since if i really love someone I will go as long (ride or die) with him just like Akane did for Aqua. Even Aqua didn't love anyone. Or idk if he understand himself or not. Because it kinda frustrating when there was time he should let Akane go, but instead using her again to finding more clue about his father. To the latest event when Akane trying to do something reckless by herself. Aqua came to stop her and broke up relationship and put a distant to her. To keeps her safe. He even make everyone included Ruby to hated him. Thus if something happens they wouldn't involved. Back to Akane, when Aqua broke up with her, she only felt sad that she couldn't save him from the path of revenge. Because when there's the time there were together, when he thoughthis dad is dead. Aqua even said that I'm finally free and allow to love someone and be happy. Is when he's with Akane. I love Akane for those qualities of her being partner in crime with Aqua. There both knew each other too welled. After breaking up I believe Akane won't gave up on Aqua, even he pushed her far from him. From here if Aqua still have feelings for Kana I will cheer up Akane to ignore Aqua for a better man lol. Kana can have him 😜 anyway I love the storyline too much. That seem unhealthy, basically they didn't trust each other , aqua not trusting akane and end up doing that , and akane not trusting aqua by telling him. After reading it all, I simply cant stand mean, arrogant petty characters who are so down to earth inside their brain they cant even reflect on the behalf of others, so they say harsh and mean things like its the truth when its just their petty stuck up ass speaking. I didnt mind her trying to stick out and everything until she shits on others, and buts snd bothers into things without thinking, "hey maybe everything is not about me". Maybe tsunderes isnt for me, but there are other tsunderes thay are way kinder and atleast have a heart for somebody else than themselves. Very interesting. I dont really understand kana. Not for her dynamic but her reason behind it. I understand she wen to the sidelines to get more roles and let "other people take the spotlight" but she does nothing to push others. I feel like people confuse her role as empathetic rather than just a bystander. And thats what she is a bystander to her once admired child acting career. The "genius child actor" the "former child actor". I think she acts like this because she is such a good actor. She says her lines she interprets it and thats it. but in the words of Gotanda Taishi (aqua's first director) communication skills is very important and its just as important to tell and boost someone into taking the spot light than just stepping back. You can see her do that in the live action adaptation of the manga . and how the manga creator was devastated that it was so bad and it took someone like aqua to help her. and about how she is a perfect actor for the director. yea its too perfect its bad. Heath Ledger is a good example for this. In the movie the Dark Knight he doesnt play a simple caricature of joker he sits with Christopher nolan he takes his favorite iteration of the joker and then he expands on it. Says things like "do you wanna know how i got these scars my father..." and then LIES by telling another fake backstory about her wife and how he gave himself the scars because of her.
