It's so sad listening to this now. I can't believe Netflix cancelled The Get Down. They barely promoted it, too. There would be little to no promotion for this show, AND IT WAS GOOD! The story and the characters, but especially the music. It's such a shame that this show had to end on a cliffhanger. I'm so mad at Netflix for not giving this show better promotion, because this show was a hidden gem.

June 2020, I am now 18. I want this show back I want Part III please 😕. When I watched all it was summer 2017 (I was 15 about to turn 16) after 10th grade. I would play this song every day during summer! Listening to this song always made me feel raising up till moving forward, this show and song gives much more faith and still does Everything from this show, I felt the racism, I felt the anger, the pain, the excitement & all emotions. When her dad was abusive it makes me think of my blood. So many aspects that I can relate from this show and I am sure others will say the same! This is like a black community show that is made to show the old times how hard it was becoming successful and it is still while being black. Mixed people would have a little more advantage than blacks. I miss this 😢. This song is the part Zeke and Mylene had to go for their own path. I am a guy, yes I cried from this show.

This show is so underrated. The ending of part 2 had me on the verge of tears. Every episode had my emotions going back and forth and I feel like more people need to see this. I watched the Get Down on Netflix out of interest whilst I was studying for my final exams and I adored it! I watched it a few months ago and I related to the characters in so many ways, I built an emotional connection with it. I never thought about it much, didn't look for any extra clips, or interviews or look for songs in the show. But I went through a traumatic parting with the group of people I love most yesterday, as I finished school and this song just sprung into my head today just now and at first all I could memorise was the melody, I didn't even realise it came from the Get Down but the melody reflected my feelings. After humming it for a while, the only words I could remember was "I'm packing my bags, and leaving it all behind" and then I typed it into the search engine and it brought me here 😭❤️ and my heart is aching still but having a song sympathise with my emotion, consoles me.

This show had everything aesthetic, plot, charismatic characters, and unbelievably awesome music. I haven't been able to find a series anywhere near as good as this and I probably never will be I wish it was still running but all good things must come to an end

THIS SHOW IS SO FUCKING UNDERRATED! Due to a lack of hype, shitty trailers and not enough promotion it was cancelled, which is so unfortunate, I loved the characters and storylines and just wow what a wonderful show.
