very few filmmakers understand the nuances of life and relationships like Imtiaz Ali does. Although many will say it is the same old story and he must change his ways but that is what we as an audience lack and fail to comprehend. First of all its not a mainstream platform so why to make a film if a storyteller wont event experiment a little and go out of his ways ( however Imtiaz experiments in mainstream mediums as well ) and secondly it is about changing times which might not be completely reflective of todays society but does breathe somewhere in some places in some minds. In my opinion it is the detailed and non serious( at several places ) voice over that brings down the film.

I think the point was totally missed. This short does not encourage infidelity. As the girl says "I can do anything, anytime. No one can give me freedom", which summarises how the marriage should be. Just because she is married, she doen't need to seek freedom from anyone. She is free to do what she wants irrespective of whether she is married or not. And that realization takes her fear away from the marriage and she goes back to get married. However, if a person actually chooses to indulge in a post marital relationship or not is left to the person's consciousness and it is his/her responsibility to deal with the consequences. But marriage can not be a deterrant to those thoughts/actions irrespective of the accepted moral standards of the society.

Am I the only one who actually liked the film? I think its not at all wrong. Psychology, precisely psychoanalytical theory says that there is a term called as 'superego'. It includes the moral ideas that a person learns within the family and society. It is the internal representation of parental and societal values. Nothing if we look in the broadest dimension is wrong. It is what we have been told. We have been told if a girl sleeps with 4-5 men she's wrong or a slut. Who decides that barrier? Anything and everything that gives you happiness, makes your life better and enjoy a moment is NOT WRONG. But what's more important is not living w a guilt. In the film later if she feels she is not contended and doesn't feel good then that's different. That is absolute freedom to do what makes you love your existence without having a guilt. Love this film! Imtiaz never lets down❤️

To me it is by far one of the finest films ever made. If you look at it, he's shown this girl who believes in her freedom. Freedom to do anything that she wants and gives her the contentment and lover her life. Happiness is what you want. Marriage, manogamy is all what we are bombarded with all these years. With time should your belief, your approach to such things change? Should you believe in TRUE freedom or just live with the fact that you have to behave in a way after a point of time(after getting married) Love the depth in it and the brilliant execution and the fantastic way of depicting such a beautiful approach in mere fourteen minutes. It's a satire. By going backwards in time imtiaz wants to show how people change so fast. People can't stay true to themselves. First she showed the guy attitude that she ain't gonna flirt with him, later they hook up but say that they won't marry, finally they run away. It's about the muddled way in which youth spend their lives today. No planning, no inner thought.

I came here after watching his recent release Love Aaj Kal 2, which was very dull movie with very poor storyline. I hoped that this could be a better movie since it's a short movie, and the movie kept the curiosity till the end only to get the shock when the end credits popped up. I mean where the hell is the story. Where is that Imtiaz Ali who gave us masterpiece like Socha na tha, Jab we met and Love Aaj Kal part 1. Sad I feel he is going Ram Gopal Verma way.

A lot of people in the comment section are talking about infidelity, cold feet before getting married, and whether all the talk about freedom was just that, a talk? Where do freedoms end and responsible behavior begins? However, in my humble opinion, the short film is not about that... Rather the way the narrator speaks about time from the very beginning till the end, hints at how the story is about the unplanned but timed meeting of two strangers. And their innocuous flirting led to something much bigger - all happened in the heat of the moment... Maybe, the time of their meeting was not right; potential life partners lost in the maze of time. I say potential life partners because the bride's sense of humor was quite similar to that of the photographer. They clicked right from the moment they met. The story is about the uncertainty of how time unfolds: None of the protagonists planned on doing what they did. Yet they did it, going back on their own words: "woh insaan he kya jo waqt k saath badal jaaye." What is coming next, how the next moment is planned, no one knows... You can plan an entire wedding yet you cannot do everything as per the schedule. Time is invincible: Even Alexander failed to conquer time. PS, It's my take on the movie. Feel free to disagree. So basically the girl was jittery about commitment and had a fling with a charming guy before her marriage. I have noticed how cheating girlfriends have been rewarded and absolved of any guilt in Imtiaz Ali films, Tara in Tamasha, Heer in Rockstar etc but Raghu in Love Aaj Kal 2 had to lose the love of his life for that, held on to that guilt, and never found love after that. What is this double standard? Also, this short film really speaks about morality which is relevant. It shows how the youth is confused due to the conditioning done to mankind by the society and manmade constructs. It raises some pertinent questions on marriage and the need for love to be essential for that. It also shows the dynamics of opposite sexes with respect to society. When the guy asks the bride to smile, its damn interesting. It is almost like challenging her to be happy without him because both of them felt the spark that could transpire into love but wont happen as one is unsettled as far as his career goes, might leave the country soon and the other has said YES maybe because she is of marriageable age, or just because her boyfriend proposed. It is all too murky. Some things I noticed - The girl who was in Love Aaj Kal 2 is here as a receptionist, When the bride is dressing up for the wedding the background score is that of 'Dhadkan Dhadkan' from Whats your Raashee movie, Pavail Gulati looks like an Indian Jim Sarbh. lol.
