JAK Respected Mufti, I am convinced of my decision of taking khulla from my husband. It is after many efforts of fighting for my marriage with my husband but I realize he will never change... his belief and upbringing and views on a wife’s value are too far embedded. His family beliefs are typical and they take orders from their mother and sisters. Kicking out and casting out daughter-in-laws is normal for them. They do it to punish.I feel betrayed of the 25 yrs of sincerity, loyalty and empathy that Ive had/given to this marriage and extended family. Since the last five days, i also have not been able to go in front of him (of my own will). I stay in my room and ask my daughters to tell me if he is anywhere near the kitchen when I need to cook or eat. When he walked into the house one night while i was sitting in the kitchen w my daughter I turned off all the lights till he left. And then I went back upstairs to my room. My heart is too full.😞 I dont know why, but i have still made the dua of Istikhara today after my Zuhr and Asr salah. I just wanted to consult although I cant imagine continuing in a relationship where I have no trust or confidence on my husband. Its painful and sad. For such a case, All i have to do is go to my local masjid and speak w the Imam I believe. So, when we speak of things going quickly or not, im not sure what to expect of my dua. Any thoughts? JAK

Emily what do you mean signs the red flag 🚩 is right in front of you dear ... do not come back to someone who’s abusing you, know your worth...if they really loved they would’ve never hurt you in the 1st place. Someone abusing is no joke... may Allah make it easy for you!

Emily? There’s abuse? And yet you are unsure and need Allahs guidance on this decision? Allah swt has already given guidance in the Quran about ‘zulm/ injustice/abuse’ etc. Everyone has a right to dignity and Allah swt is not telling anyone to take any abuse and give up your right. Same way He has told us not TO abuse and BE unjust. Leave the abuser for the sake of Allah and trust Allah. You will be better off. Allah doesnt like ‘talaq’ but he dislikes even more a nikkah (contract with Him directly) that has been taken so lightly. Your abusive husband is in BIG trouble and anyone else who supports or protects his behaviour. Be strong. And for the love of Allah, free yourself my sister. Its not the end of the world. Allah will help you if you trust Him.

I am so grateful to the generous people who took their own time and left a kind comment on my situation. I pray the same for you, that Allah might remove any discomfort/ hardship you're in right now. as for me i am still indecisive but at least i am safe. Everyday i thank Allah that i am not with him in this covid lockdown...i have lived my life with him feeling like a captive when he was unemployed and i just know (as also the news say) the cases of domestic abuse took a sharp spike during the pandemic. Perhaps everything happens for a good reason. Also the south Asian countries are very big on criticizing victims and glorifying abuse in the name of Allah's test. This is why everything is so difficult for me. The way people react to my situation anyone other than those who haven’t known me since childhood really makes it difficult for me to go by. The everyday humiliations i get from people are very subtle and silent but is very vividly present - all because i couldn’t survive the psychological torture and occasional physical abuse that was used to control me. I am now mentally more healthy and starting to see things the way they have been and i just hope Allah never gives up on me. Zazhakumullahu khairan.

That is not the problem of istikhara , it is the problem of the character of the man and the ploy of Shaytan . Pray for your partner , ask Allah to give him hidayah and make him a better person. If your life has been connected with him , there must be some good in it too or maybe Allah has sent you to him to change him and improve his behaviour . I pray that Allah help you with your marriage life and give you utmost happiness 🌹

im so stressed and sad and need help. i dont have anyone supporting me, i have met someone whos also muslim but from a different culture and i felt at ease but because of the different culture my parents arent accepting and want me to marry a distant relative of the same culture. and its messing with my mental health. when im already depressed things were simple i actually found someone who i know ill be happy with and has made me a better person. and i do duah. i dont know its just effecting me badly. i cant concentrate and i just want to disappear its alot of pressure on me.

mahboob basha Salam I would suggest you to pray thahajjud in the last third of the night and ask allah to make your marriage peaceful. Recite Al-Baqarah daily if possible. As in its recitation theres Barakah. People had seen Significant improvements after this. Its a very hard process. But it has a serious impact. I have heard many stories how it drastically changed lives of Muslims in serious conditions.

alcapone I think you should weigh the pros and cons of each option and decide whats best for you. Then pray isthikhara and mention it. Generally it means if this option A is good for my dunya and akhira make it happen or else repel it away from me.

I went to perform my 2nd Umrah. I thought it was a sign as everything else I bought for him for the marriage was from there anyway. HE knew it would not work, but HE granted my prayers anyway. I now see that Allah had somehow taught me to be a wiser person. Allah will never made one suffer more than he/she can bear. There's no "Happily Ever After" with Allah's creation, if it is one sided. Eternal love is with the one and only the Al-Mighty.

Pray tahajjud sister. Allah accepts our dua in the last third part of the night. Ask to Allah SWT whatever you want. Definitely Allah will grand you that. Don't lose hope on Allah.
