The new update dropped along with the new patch notes, but when I launched the game, everything on the screen was telling me "BUY BUY BUY!", instead of "Hey check the new patch notes, where we might have changed how you favourite hero works". On the main menu there's literally nothing that relates to the actual gameplay, you've got to press escape to see the patch notes button while the screen is filled with trash advertising about new skins and way to spend money...

EA got their bad reputation thanks to this, ask for money for everything with minimum quality and then layoff everyone in the studio till it closes. Microsoft acquired ActiBlizz so the story can repeat itself.

Tbh I see overwatch as a kind of a bad friend to you. You stay loyal because you actually want to be friends with them and do things for them because you want to make that sacrifice, but your friend doesn’t ever return the favor. This is like you and overwatch. You continue to brand your channel around the game, but the game doesn’t really give you content to work with. I've been playing Marvel Rivals, and Valorant. I don't care about the Marvel property, never read a comic book in my life, seen only a handful of the movies. It's not the characters that pull me in, it's the gameplay. Reminds me of Overwatch 1 when the game first released. I'm not a fan of LoL, but I think you should create, and play whatever makes you happiest.

@@maty3950 Rivals is basically a better version of what Overwatch was at launch. Its Overwatch 1 with the advantage of also having lessons that Overwatch 1 taught us about what not to do. Also, with just generally more personality and more endearing characters thanks to the Marvel IP doing the heavy lifting compared to the Overwatch IP which barely existed as a narrative at the time (and still to this day feels like it really doesn't).

I wouldn't say it's dying. I played during the drought years in OW1 and even in this sad state, it's nowhere near that level. When QP queue times hit 20+ minutes on tank, that's when you have to worry.

@@friisquy9631 People forget that games being in a state of "dying" and actually being "dead" are very very different things. All of Blizzard's games are trending downwards, and logically, that means that Overwatch is objectively "dying". But, the downward spiral could be reversed with the right changes. A game can be in an unhealthy decline for a decade or more before it hits the point where playing it is anywhere close to genuinely non-viable... or, it can happen over a very short span of time because of a rapidfiring of very very poor decisions. The problem is that modern Blizzard aren't the type to make those changes that would solve the problem, as they've made abundantly clear ever since OW became OW2.

My friends were excited about the game and got me into it actually. But everyone stopped like into season 2 while I've meanwhile just grinding comp on my own and begging them to play with me 😭. But it's like they just say "ugh overwatch" There's no point in asking anymore. The only thing that would bring them back is an interesting Collab with something they care about, but I think they probably wouldn't play comp and the game has no incentive to play besides that.

Blizzard really dug their grave with releasing Overwatch 2 in the first place, they should have just kept updating the original and adding new heroes. The point of the sequel was focusing on pve, which they have lost that audience. The game might not be dead, but it really doesn't look like Blizzard care, and even if they do plan on making content, will it be enough? Having a store with a few new skins isn't exciting content. I'm not interested in Rivals, but I'm happy for the game, it actually might give Blizzard a wake up call. I've not played Overwatch since Juno released. One new hero every 3-4 months isn't enough to get me back.

No, the point of the sequel was ALWAYS about reworking the monetization to a sickening level. They used PVE as the excuse, because somehow it "couldn't be added in via a patch." But when OW2 was launched it was said to be coming eventually... in a patch. Word got out years ago that Kotick was "frustrated" that OW1 hadn't been monetized, or in his own words "exploited", more than it had. He wanted to see it at the same sickening levels of monetization as other Activision FPSs. It was under his directive that OW2 was created, solely as a way to introduce those kinds of monetization and use the game being F2P as the excuse for them, because they knew adding them to the original wouldn't have been accepted at all.

nah I don't think they even need to do that. if they brought back 6v6, let you buy older battle passes and got rid of the FOMO, and made them a much better deal, people would come back. people left because of what they took away from us. we got free skins all the time and we had 6v6, and they took both of those away. at this point I don't even want PVE anymore, I have much better PVE games than what they could force into the overwatch system. I'd rather play Marvel Rivals and then play Darktide and Helldivers and Deep Rock for my PVE fix.

I mean we really need a comp mode. Personally I'm struggling to decide but in the current state, maybe it's because it's quick play and I didn't play that much but idk I think I prefer 5v5. Tank is definitely more fun in 6v6. But I don't play tank usually so I find it hard to see myself being a tank main. I'd probably play either way but yeah idk 2 more players starts to feel too chaotic and it's hard to keep track of everyone. Tanks are going critical after a couple of shots and it's hard to ever stop just sitting behind heal botting them because it never feels like there's a chance to do anything else. I'd probably play either way but grinding a 6v6 comp would help me decide properly

Blizzard didn't care. They're lack of shits given was evident when the former CEO made that embarrassing tweet about Black Widow and Widowmaker. They'd spend more effort trashing Rivals instead of brainstorming on how to make OW 1.5 feel fresh. I'm surprised the 6v6 is even permanent, knowing Blizzard. Overwatch won't die or anything, but I think it'll hurt more if it's just pushed to the side and forgotten about like a war hero during a time of peace. It's just burned way too much goodwill with its player base. From what I'm reading in the comments, it feels like Overwatch just turned into a flashier version of Diablo Immortals, an overblown mobile game.

Overwatch is like a toxic relationship. It has it's good moments, but most of the time feels abusive and takes you for granted. You have been together for so long and you stay out of fear you've already committed and won't find anything better. @@lopezjdamian Overwatch caused the label for hero shooter to come to exist, but that's irrelevant. The same way League of Legends coined the "MOBA" label despite the fact its entire gameplay formula was based off DOTA six years prior. TF2 was functionally the exact same thing as Overwatch in practice; at least, back then. The "Classes" in TF2's golden age had such radically different functionality between their equipment options that they essentially played as fundamentally different characters in many cases. The only thing Overwatch definitively added new to the gameplay formula was Ultimate abilities. The actual "powers" (See: weapons) were mostly lifted from TF2's classes with some tweeks. Mercy with Medic's Medigun, Pharah with Soldier's Rocket Launcher, etc.

Best way to describe overwatch right now is that it was once a home that was a little messy but still felt warm and inviting and now it's an amazingly clean mental asylum that while looks nice, isn't very comfortable to stay in long term and isn't going to help you in any way mentally. Everyone wants out but a lot of people are stuck inside for a VERY long time. Thankfully, I'm out... Partially... Playing rivals cause its fun.

I'm one of the people who left OW for Rivals. I don't plan on going back. I hated when they went to 5v5 my dislike proved out during OW2's life. 6v6 is great, but they didn't give it a ranked mode so I've got little interest in even trying it out. Rivals does pretty much everything better and frankly even the community is better. I had more people talk in ranked on a random Saturday night on Rivals than I did in 3 seasons of OW. Also there's less toxicity. I bounced between gold and diamond in OW pending upon the role and on the off chance someone did talk it was always shit talk. It's just different in rivals.

It's hard for old games like overwatch to pull new players because they don't get to have that first impression on people. The gane has been in the main stream for so long that most people, even if they have never played Overwatch, they at least know it enough to think they can form an opinion on it. Overwatch doesn't get the boost games like Val, Minecraft, and Fortnite do because it's not target kids, but they also don't get adults because it's a bit more cartoony, We don't even get the gooners because the "fan service" is very minimal. Getting new players has been Overwatch's #1 issue for a long time now, and it's finally catching up to them with public reception at an all time low.

Ovewatch died, but not because it was a bad game, but because, even before being the heroshoter who was leading, they already did the minimum in events, skings and content without much creativity, using nostalgia. And now that they don't even have a base player anymore, I don't see why they should keep making efforts and spending resources, which was already something they could do before. Blizzar will use what they have in Word of Warcraft and leave Overwatch as a mediocre second-class game in their catalog and that's it :/

I’m honestly relieved to see Overwatch fading away. As someone who’s been playing since day one, I’ve always been in the GM / Top 500 ranks on console (PS4/PS5) - never played Tanks, my main role was always DPS, and I also played support. Overwatch killed itself with its constant missteps, and I’m honestly glad it’s facing the consequences. I’m tired of companies getting away with releasing lackluster products, especially for a live-service game that promises so much but fails to deliver. The lies about Overwatch 2 and its garbage monetization system are just the tip of the iceberg. The broken characters, poor balance, and lack of meaningful updates have made the game frustrating to play. In high ranks, Widow is basically a server admin - she holds the entire lobby hostage. I am a Tracer main she's one of the heroes I have some of the most time on, it’s incredibly tilting to either be one shot by her, play corners whole game no one can walk or be stuck too mirror this broken hero who can shut down everything from the backline 500 miles away from the team fight. And then, of course, you have the basically garbage players who chiming in with things like “OOhH bRo JusT DIve Widdow Bro” when they don’t even understand the mechanics of the game, let alone the strategies needed to deal with a hero like that. Maybe that works in Bronze when everyone playing with their monitors off, but in high elo play do u think the 4 other teamate are just going too watch u dive the backline for free? when a brig pack can burst heal and stop any flankers attempt too diving. Then there’s the switch to the 5v5 format with overpowered tanks, which ruined the core of the game. It felt like Overwatch went from a team-based shooter to something else entirely, and all the excitement drained away. The attempts to go back to 6v6 when Rivals came out only highlighted how out of touch they were with the community. And don’t even get me started on the timing of nerfing Sombra while releasing a mythic skin for Widow - it’s just a series of dumb decisions one after another. This company has made mistake after mistake, and I’m honestly here for their failure at this point. They’ve completely lost their way, and it's no wonder the player base is dwindling. It’s frustrating to watch something that had so much potential crumble because of poor decisions, greedy monetization, and neglecting the community’s needs.

The reason I stopped playing Overwatch was how Blizzard dealt with cheaters. Having ban waves every few months so you'd end up seeing the same rage hacking people in multiple games over a month or two was horrible to deal with. It felt like Blizzard could care less, and were even possibly selling their own cheats with how callous they seemed towards banning cheaters. Rivals on the other hand gives you the impression like they are actively dealing with the problem with active bans, and even telling you if someone has been banned. Information that Overwatch will not give you. I like Overwatch better; as you said it is more polished. As, Rivals sound design, and optimizations, and busy menu give it an unpolished feel compared to Overwatch. However, when cheaters run lobbies like in Overwatch it makes it feel like you are playing a pay to win modeled game. Like you're poor, and will never compete with other players because of that. I'd hope Blizzard at some point will actually do something about cheaters, but it would seem they may want the game to die. We'll see though; hopefully that is not the case.

played OW a few months when it came out, It was so fun. Each shift in meta over the years got so funny. I remember when pink mercy came out and I was too poor to dish out $15 to get it (yes I actually couldn't afford it). Watching the hero cinematics, playing the story events, and opening loot boxes. Seeing the lore come along really made me fall in love with the game. so when Zero Hour dropped, I was so fricken hyped to play OW2 mostly for the PVE. When OW2 finally dropped, the first three seasons wasn't bad at all, Kiriko and Junker queen came out but no PVE mode released....okay sure that was okay cuz they made an announcement that its coming a bit later. I might as well enjoy the game until then right? Few months, seasons, and new game mode later, it finally dropped. Was the most...average thing ever...then they canceled it and then they announced the reasonings behind it. Now the games nothing more than a cash grab. it hurts to see the game become like it....but honestly that is just how life goes, eventually something new and more interesting came and took its place. They couldn't keep up or pump out anything new thus its getting clowned on for it. At this point they need to just finish up the games lore by giving us a movie or cinematic and finally put the game to rest. I honestly can't see how they can shake things up other than maybe just introduce a new hero that will bring people back to the game for a month before completely abandoning it again. Even if they brought back PVE, the excitement already is beyond saving. man i miss the game ngl

this list is so flawed in a lot of ways. 1. you cannot simply get rid of widow, it's impossible. Instead just make widow as bad as black widow in rivals and it will be fine. 2. Hanzo's one shot is fine because it isnt too strong and nobody cries about his one shot because it is much harder to land and you can ACTUALLY peak corners. 3. Yes 4. It’s never going to happen, overwatch could be perfect tomorrow and gamer dogma would still dictate it would be bad. Even if they actually do the PVE again, it would likely lead to the PvP suffering. Overwatch 1 died because the devs couldn’t maintain it and make everything in 2, and they had a bigger team back then. Doing a big PVE mode now would actually kill the game. The ship for PVE sailed, it was a flawed premise from the start, and blizzard executives doomed the dev team, and they’re paying the price now. To dwell in the past isn’t ever going to bode well. The game needs something new, something to shake things up, but because neither of us are game experts and gamers are wildly inconsistent in their standards and desires, I can’t really say. Incredibly silly to say that the thing that killed overwatch 1 and tarnished overwatch 2 forever is the only way.

I started playing Overwatch 1 in 2017 but I dipped out sometime in 2021 so didn't catch the PVE hype train. I was saying it was the only way because Blizzard has to show somehow that they actually care and that they are committed to make the game better. Basically pull a No Mans Sky, through sheer dedication show you can deliver everything you promise, you just needed time. A lot of people still think that in overwatch 2 you have to pay for the battlepass to unlock new heroes even though that was removed a long time ago, really goes to show that first impressions stick with people. So if Blizzard cared to revive the overwatch franchise in the general public eyes, they would need a BIG public image shake up, be it PVE, be it revive the cinematics, be it a new PVP mode that gets popular, idk but something.

I honestly don't know what to do. I started playing Overwatch basically when OW2 came out, and I fell in love so quickly because of how the game is, just in general. The heroes, the sounds, the looks, it just calms everything I have inside and I can't stop playing it. I do play Marvel Rivals as well, yes: I love the art and fun characters, I truly do, but it's just not the same. Not only because the game isn't in first person, wich, I can understand (it's just not my thing), but, I don't know, OW just feels so much better, and this is my personal opinion of course. I'm just sad that I have to feel so dissapointed in Overwatch, a game that I LOVE and I play every time I feel the need to escape and be ok. I keep playing it of course, but it's just so sad. Seeing a game with such potential, abandoned, left in the dirt just because of money, and people who just... don't care... it makes me feel horrible. I don't want the game to die, nor I want to hate on Marvel, since it is a great game, sure. I just wish they could exist together, head to head in healthy competition. It's sad to see how Marvel Rivals fans are so toxic, both in game and in OW's regards, it's just so, so, so sad. nah im with ya there, when OW2 wasnt even out yet, i thought the game (OW1) looked awesome, i loved the characters, lore, unique designs, maps, everything. When OW2 came out free, i was really happy to be able to finally play. then suddenly, it begins dying harder than ever. Queues take longer, servers are laggier (harder to find lobbies is likely why) and the community is in shambles. every OW reel i see has the npc Marvel Rivals comments, and i cant even refute them. because in actual fact, yes. Blizzard is awful at balancing, awful at keeping promises, greedy, etc. i cant even play marvel rivals cuz my pc says "haha dx12 no support u stinky". I still play OW and still have great fun, but its rly painful to see that the company behind it tends to be pretty bad.

The hate that ow is getting is deserved. This is literally what it earned. You got into the game when ow(2) released, the people who despise it now are the majority of ow1 player base. And for MANY good reasons, atrocious balance, disgusting character design (kit wise, and look wise for some of them) agenda pushing aswell with Many of the (characters) , did you know a jew voices pharah? The Egyptian character? And said jew kept using media platform against palas? I don't think it can be saved, overwatch hit a home run upon launch with ow because the gameplay was so fast paced, with winston, genji, tracer, rein mercy and lucio all just being so good, the game just moved so fast, and if you break down most the complaints in the community over the last however many years, most boil down to it being slow and unfun, like sustain metas or orisa. I was Watching moist critikals rivals stream and he was asked if he thinks it'll have an esport, and Charlie said it's likely because he thinks the only reason overwatch failed was because of how slow it became during goats and that it isn't very fun to watch or play when like that but its never fully recovered from that because it's the hero design they've been adding for half a decade... Now they can't possibly get around this without changing half the cast, meanwhile just about every hero in rivals moves fast and there's very few easy heros that just beat them, even their turret heros gotta land headshots to be effective lol I think overwatch created itself a niche with in its own game genre it created and rivals just slotted in and came pretty close to recreating that fast pace gameplay that ow1 should have refined, rivals feels almost like that but refined so idk if it's even wise to now try and fix ow.. would you than just isolate your remaining playerbase who enjoys it's slower and less chaotic? Because I can't speak for everyone but I sure as hell ain't going back to ow even if they do fix the gameplay loop to be more like rivals, because rivals has the fast gameplay and they didnt betray my trust lol

I played Overwatch 2 from launch in 2016 - 2022. I went through all of the issues. Mercy's rez being nerfed. Brigitte being introduced. Role queue being forced onto us. Being forced to play Overwatch 2's 5v5 when I didn't like it (6v6 is just better.. if you played it, you know)... I was like you -- I liked the game, and didn't want to give up on it. I was so excited for PvE, even though I knew we'd probably need to pay for it. Then, all the allegations against their staff came out. I grit my teeth and tried to separate the art from the artists. Then, they announced that PvE was not coming out. At that point, I looked back at all the times we'd gotten screwed and realized; these are dishonest businessmen who never keep their promises. They are liars and sexual abusers. Overwatch's hype ended in about 2019. They stopped game development for around 2-3 years. Then, they resurrected the corpse of the game they abandoned, ripped its soul out, and replaced it with a greedy goblin's soul. What you are playing is not the game I played. It is a whored out shadow of what I played. You didn't get to experience loot boxes, where literally every skin in the game could be attained for *free* with the right amount of patience. There were no skins locked behind a paywall. In fact, only the game was. It was $40 and you got the entire thing. So when you say you are arriving late -- yes. About 6 years too late, if you wanted to experience the true hype of that game. That's why you should stop playing this game. It is Fortnite wearing Overwatch 1's skin.

There needs to be a huge content and story drop for this game to shine once more. I'm talking about a compelling animated series that will get people interested in the Overwatch universe again, combined with a huge content drop like several new heroes, some of which were perhaps introduced to us in the animated series, improved gameplay progression and rewards (bring back Portrait Borders!), and the "Overwatch 2" branding NEEDS TO GO! As far as gameplay is concerned 5v5 can't stay, it has failed on all fronts and it is intrinsically tied to the Overwatch 2 branding which we want to get away from! Super-Tanks are not fun to play as or play against, and the removal of a Tank has led to Support becoming too strong to compensate for the fact that their Tank is alone. This leads to the DPS feeling like the least impactful role, which is funny because it's also the most played role. It just doesn't work, and has felt considerably worse since the season 9 changes occured. Return to 6v6 and work on it exclusively, we don't need the playerbase and dev resources split on them trying to balance two separate modes. I've been playing OW since 2017 but my friends are new and have only ever experienced 5v5, they all agree that 6v6 feels better in spite of the season 9 changes (which negatively impact the feel of both formats). In 6v6 there's an actual Tank resource exchange that has an enjoyable gameplay loop for all players involved because everyone's power is relatively closer (Health pools are lower, healing output is lower, etc etc). Seasons must drop with themes and fun game modes that keep the game feeling fresh like the days of Overwatch 2016-2018. Battle Passes should have skins that follow the theme of the season instead of having one or two odd skins that don't fit at all. I've had an idea for Souvenirs that it should be something you hold in first person, which is now getting introduced into Valorant as something called the "Flex" and allows you to put your weapon away to hold an item and play with it, this is how Souvenirs should work instead of being a useless emote that nobody likes to use. At least this way the only useless crap in the BP will be the Weapon Charms. There's a lot more they can do but these are just some of the things that need to happen in order for Overwatch to have its place in the Hero Shooter genre now that Marvel Rivals is here...

I was one of the few that never heard of OW in 2016... idk how i missed it (2k and halo player) but around 2019 an old friend sent me the OW2 announcement cinematic and it captured my heart like few other games ever have and that turned me from nooby casual to a 2k comp hours player with the majority of those hours coming in ow2 all because i fell in love with the heroes via cinematics and the lore story telling. If OW2 and blizzard want their ip to contend with casuals, then they need to start telling the damn story THRU THE GAME with CINEMATIC SHORTS.

Flats is popular not just cause he is good at ow/rivals, but he also talks about other stuff and he involves his personality into his gameplay. Hell even jynxzi a guy who also plays a near dead game siege got popular because of his personality. Im not saying it needs to be big, but just one people can relate to or chill with. I think streaming will help your case too, since you could post clips from your stream too, i just watched this video and havent seen your other stuff so im not completely sure what your comfortable with, but just based on this video alone i think maybe trying other things or experimenting what works for u and your channel is the best option, because if you tie yourself to ow and its gone, there goes the career yknow? i've been saying for years that overwatch needs to pull and arcane. they're sitting on a goldmine of lore, they used to put so much thought effort and time into the character trailers. i sort of always thought that they were going to release a series or a spinoff game or SOMETHING since ow1, and in a way it was with ow2. of course we all saw how that turned out but we all know that if they were to have continued with the pve mode they wouldn't be anywhere as in the trenches as they are now. idk i'm still hoping they've got a series or spinoff in the works thats just SUUUUUUUUPER hidden since they've built the ow ip form the ground up (unlike marvel rivals)

One of the really big things Rivals got people excited with was the idea that seasons are in 2 parts, and new content comes each part. That isn't to say people should do that, but...this is the one time i think Mobile game design works. Netease is a mobile company first. They make gacha and stuff, but if you haven't played a Gacha game, they are CONSTANT motivation to play. Rivals is that without the constant tick to pay. Without the constant "you mut buy". It's got so much good will from that, and this makes Blizzard look so so SO slow. They are a big company, but it's clear them shrinking the size of each team is not starting to affect their ability to keep up. Without the development size, they are too sluggish. It takes months to make movement against anything else. Rivals will slow down, but not before people naturally start to feel burned out. Mobile games do burn you out. You can't keep getting new content and stay invested because the cycle itself burns you out being too active, but for now...OW needs to start doing something. It doesn't matter what. A new event style. Bringing in some new members to get them up to speed, and creating faster. The only other responce is OW just...stops and doesn't care. It just keeps going, and gets overshadowed and sunset after a long death. You can't expect people to be happy with what is basically reheated content so long.

Nope, I don't foresee over watch making any meaningful updates. As big as they were they certainly gotten complacent. And in their hubris didn't think marvel rivals was competition. Otherwise the time for big updates would have been to the lead up of marvel rivals. They abandoned alot of the core selling points to even justify OW2 mainly PVE. At this point they may eventually do some bigger changes if they keep bleeding players but the numebers they have now at 20,000 aren't game ending. But at this point blizzard is banking on players falling for the sunk cost fallacy. They already spent 250$ on Overwatch skins, of course they won't stop playing the game. As for you, I doubt the games going to die die, but experimenting with other games/content wouldn't be terrible.

Thing is, I personally got more enjoyment from arcade game modes and the event game modes rather than quickplay or comp, which at the end of the day is what they focus most on for game balance and hero design. I really don't feel the need to return to Overwatch unless they do something really special gameplay-wise. The canceling of PvE really soured my relationship with Overwatch since I was really looking forward to their take on MvM.

Marvel Rivals is Final Fantasy...To explain if people do not get it after Final Fantasy pop up Blizzard other child Warcraft Woke up and started putting thing in correct direction. Basically Marel Rivals a wake up call.

Same tbh, like I like Overwatch, it’s has a lot of potential, and actually I couldn’t play till 2 launched since I just move myself to pc bc the economy is sinking and only via Steam can actually afford a few titles on my own. It’s a great game imo, and the matches are good (specially 6v6, fck 5v5) but Blizzard, oh Blizzard… they seem allergic to creativity and innovation, actually most big corpos are, I don’t want this game to die actually, I want Blizz to get their sht together, stop doing Mercy and Kiriko skins every 2 weeks and create something NEW. A man can dream yeah?

I love overwatch and don't want to see the community die, but at the same time, if there's no money to be made in overwatch content, I can't blame creators for not making overwatch content.

I dont watch anything marvel either but the game is still really fun regardless
