I d say you were quite conservative. The defense/attack subcategories are quite arbitrary and more confusing than helpful imo. Basically all of those heroes, with the exception of Torb, are damage dealers or flankers. And I would also add Roadhog to that list (his main roles is, or was, eliminate enemy players not protect anyone). Then you have a wierd category of two "builder" heroes, Torb and Sym. Those would also be among the "DPS" picks for a team (they are not main supports, certainly not tanks). The fact that switching to pick some heroes like Rein to help the team isnt worth it and feels to be punished in the long term for solo queue only make things worse. In the end some of us that preferred tank or support (I myself had DVA as favorite, dont like her current style very much) got bored, frustrated or annoyed and have already fully left or dont play much any more. It s as if they are retreating from their best archievment with Overwatch design and implementation. A FPS game that really forces you to play as a team, and pick between roles that are quite specific. Not anymore. Today this is turning into DPS party and the game still has no features at all to handle teams/squads. Amazing game, but also a wasted oportunity imho. So far.

I'd argue and say Junkrat has multiple uses for attacking, and plays a role with barrier busting more than most other DPS character, save for maybe pharah, even then Pharah can't burst barriers in the same way Junkrat can. This in itself prevents teams from turtling up. Junkrat's raw burst output dps barre none the highest in the game after his two mines buff as well.

most ppl like to play DPS. Same for me. best team right now is lunatic hai. That team has the best 2 support players. ryujehong(ana zen) and tobi(lucio) these 2 players represent also the korean in world cup team. 2016 and 2017 problem most teams make they want the star player on dps. but when you look at the best teams. they have the star players or really good players on support. team envy, rogue, eunited my point with good supports you win in this game but there are only 3 support Heros :( and funny thing is if you play 3 support enemy team can only counter with snipers or also 3 supports

its sad, tanks are in the same boat, I pretty much play Dva/Winston and will probably look into orisa when the new changes go through. other than that you have Rein which is boring af to play Zarya who I personally can't get the hang of, and hog who isn't really a tank. Hybrid classes are the way to go, tanks, support with more usefulness than holding M1 or M2
