From OwOnekko’s AI music playlist that sparked the initial controversy to the unfolding conflict with Jouusta and the more serious allegations now being discussed, I’ll break it all down and explain how we got here. It's important to note that while this situation is getting increasingly chaotic, I do not endorse or support any form of harassment against anyone involved. As for my personal take, I agree with some of the points Nondi made in her response video, but I also think that certain aspects were mishandled and there's stuff she said that I also heavily disagree with as well. The entire situation seems to have been blown way out of proportion and, unfortunately, it's only becoming more dramatic as things continue. What started as a debate over AI-generated music and art has spiraled into something much bigger and messier than it needed to be. Ultimately, my hope is that everyone involved can take a step back, calm down, and reflect. Logging off for a while, apologizing for any mistakes, and moving forward with their content and lives might be the best course of action at this point. It’s always better to resolve these conflicts before they become even more damaging to all parties involved. Nekko has been completely unreasonable. I hate AI, but if she said "Well that's just my opinion." I would not care more than I do currently, I simply would just ignore her as a content creator online. What got to me was her Stream she made 4 days ago were she told artist that we ether have to get over AI or give up on our dreams of being artist. Because were "too scared" of it (which is BS) AI is a tool that can help artist- yes. But the problem is currently bad actors and that AI is stealing jobs is becoming very concerning. She demands us to come to our own conclusions while propping herself up as she was the one who was right and everyone twisted what she said- nah girl. It's all very frustrating. If she apologied at this point I personally won't expect it (more so because I don't trust her now) and that's just what over 10K people did this week. im going to be completely honest, the reason I unsubbed is not because of her opinion on AI, it's this very crude and disrespectful tone she's giving to everyone in her audience. As someone who took part in AI image generators for a while, I can say that the whole "ai helping with creativity" bit is not true. AI is derivative, and that means any works inspired by AI is derivative. I realized that my use of AI was taking away my creativity, and was snuffing out my motivation to continue making art. The only pro of participating in said AI generators is that I can very easily spot if something was generated by AI now.

To clarify Nondi said she made the thumbnail the way that she did because Jo "lied in her thumbnail" so Nondi wanted to "lie in her thumbnail too" The lying in question that Jo did was having Nondi say"AI is good" in the thumbnail. When Nondi APPARENTLY has a "neutral" stance on AI (she does not have a neutral stance on AI). This was in her most recent live explaining why she made the thumbnail the way she made it. Also to expand on me not thinking she is neutral. Nondi claims she has a neutral stance on AI but encourages its use and ignores the ethical question multiple times. Like she does say she wants more regulations for it, but also excuses the fact that it does steal and equates it to "everything gets stolen all the time" while that is true, her stance is clearly not neutral imo. It's leaning positive if anything.

I watched the live stream. It was SO bad. She made sketches of her “haters” like sayings like “unsubscribe chain.” The thumbnail was even worse. She made the person who made a video on it say “I hate the blakks” in the livestream, when called out, she said “you have to be more specific” and laughed about it, clearly not caring. Other people said in the chat that she made “dont misgender them!” In a mocking way over and over again, but i personally did not see it. I find AI chats so boring. Like, it's avaliable at all times, which is an advantage, but it sucks. You can see the repetitiveness in it, even when it isn't obviously looping, and it has such hollow responses and a tendancy to insert cliche, open-ended paragraphs at the end of text strings when it's not talking in first person. I know that scheduling with other people to play fantasy games and chat about fiction is hard, but tbh all AI chats do is make me want to talk to someone with a working memory.

Thank you for this video. I was really sad to see there was drama surrounding her :( I loved her art and humor. The most frustrating part of this drama is that, like you pointed out, she literally could have just commented that the music was a silly video she did with someone and that she didn't mean any harm by it. There was no need to make a 30 minute long video on one commenter. She makes it seem like the artist who commented was trying to manipulate people just by their mere presence, which I'm sure wasn't the intention. But it has been proven in multiple research studies generative AI datasets are fed from multiple copyright infringing works, they have never been given permission to use from either the artists, or the studios they've fed from. I understand the concern of following into a mob mentality, which I agree. Should be taken with a grain of salt.. But it is also good to understand why people are making these claims.. In which case, the studies, lawsuits, and articles speak for themselves. Microsoft has outward stated: AI cannot exist without copyright infringement, and Midjourney had a literal list filled with every single artist's name, they've stolen from for use in their art generator.. They had accounts made by their employees to scrape artists work off ArtStation to follow artists to solely feed their AI.. Getty had their watermark replicated on multiple generative AI productions, as well as Artists signatures getting cobbled into illegible runes. people who've prompted specific artistic pieces, had them replicated nearly one to one... So... No, this isn't a "common AI misconception" it is a genuine fact that has been proven through study AI cobles together images from their dataset to create new images based from your prompt.

Sorry it's petty of me but to be pedantic about this but I just see this viewpoint everywhere 😩 Yes so Ai image generators are 'fed' literally BILLIONS of random images from the internet paired with accurate text descriptions and yes there is the 'ownership / ethics / copyright infringement' debate you mention. But the thing I'm saying people commonly misunderstand is that Ai does not stitch images together into a collage. Ai doesn't store the images you feed into it as training data. What it's actually doing is learning the association between the content of the image and the text description. The resulting model is not some crazy 6381927392918TB file that contains all of the images you ever fed into it and then mashes them together when you type in a prompt, that would be kinda crazy. What it actually does is it 'learns' the links between word descriptions and images, but it's not a human so it doesn't really understand it perfectly. It's just learning the association between text and a series of pixels and making up a bunch of parameters. If you feed it a million pictures of a sheep, it's going to slowly learn what a sheep is and it creates a bunch of parameters that it associates with the word sheep. It's not storing all those pictures of a sheep. It has an understanding that it's acquired of what a sheep is and then it generates the image from noise when you type in 'sheep' as a prompt (that's a whole other thing I won't go into but it goes from noise --> slowly rendering but not collaging). Anyway, the reason why you could type something in, like for example, the Mona Lisa and get basically a perfect picture of the Mona Lisa. Is that the Mona Lisa and the text description 'The Mona Lisa' pair has been fed into the model so many times because that image is everywhere on the internet. So the model has a really good idea of what that text description is linked to. And the reason why you get signatures that aren't proper signatures and weird logos which kind of look like stock image logos in images is not because those images are stored in the model and being stitched together. It's because the model has learnt that when it sees art, there's usually a little scribble in the bottom and it doesn't know what that is. But it retains that information and it thinks that it's an important part of the art because it's always there so it recreates it. And what it's doing is it's creating images from scratch based on what it's learnt from the training data. It's not storing images and stitching them together. You don't get an output that is 'an ear from Loish' and a 'background from Van gogh' and a 'body from this random Chinese Pivix artist' mashed together. You get a new image which has been informed by the training data. I made a video about how it works a while ago this is a lose TLDR but there's plenty of info online about how it generates

06:53 I kind of disagree with this specific part, as someone who has worked in AI-heavy projects. the way that most image generator AIs are trained is feeding multiple pieces of already existing art, and the AI is made to analyze the pixels and average them via hex codes, group them into separate parts of what the ai assumes is parts of the artwork (linework, rendering, etc...) and then replicate them from the average placements of the specific hex coded pixels it has gathered from it's training, this is why overlaying confusing patterns, adding noise, using glaze, etc... confuse the AI because the hex codes and values of each pixel is now different and it cant generate a proper average of the parts of the artwork. essentially, most image generation AI does, in some sort of way, collage the pixels of artworks together to create a new one. however I am sure that certain models might also overlay given artworks, take the parts that match up the most via values of the pixels and then clean it up. the reason why most AI generated images barely use the same color for an image is because it works on a pixel basis, not the whole image as we see it, after all for AIs, everything is made up of numbers and codes, it cannot actually see what the image is. of course this is my knowledge of most AIs that are consumer-grade, I'm not too sure about commercial-grade services like the products of OpenAI.

I don't necessarily hate her take on AI, since it's definitely her opinion and I do agree with the stance, that AI wont go away and will always be apart of us, so best to use it as a tool to help you (I just hate how AI is trained, since its based on stealing and non consensual use of artist work, this is a reason why i will never use AI art). im an artist and the reason i dont support ai is because of companies tryint replace people jobs with ai, ido think ai could be used for good in the future i just think we need laws on ai before it becomes too big. i dont see people talk about this point a lot of the time when i see discussions about ai art. also good video. Whether that is transphobic or not is a bit of a gray area since we don't know her intentions or headspace, but many trans people do believe that it was transphobic. I myself am not so sure. since I think it could just be stubbornness.

The caricature drawing Nondi made of Jo is absolutely disgusting, what the hell. I just unsubscribed from Nondi’s channel, this is so gross. I understand how Nondi might feel as though people are attacking her, a Black creator, more than other non-Black artists. And still, Jo was kind and respectful in their video. This caricature, plus the images she drew insulting her followers and critics? And that one of her projectile sh*tting on everyone?? imo she completely missed the point of why people have a problem with ai art, the problem is that ai developers take peoples art without consent and use it to train ai. not the fact that ai can create content. the technology is not the problem but the way developers train it is. to be fair though, a lot of artists (mostly very young beginner artists) think that the low skill level art they don’t post anywhere is going to be scraped for ai. they completely don’t understand how ai works.

She genuinely reminds me of this group of absolutely unhinged people who never got over their dramatic Amino days. Playing Roblox, check. Extremely aggressive over the smallest of things, check. Claim racist even tho there's 0 racism involved, check. Uses extremely graphic art to insult others, check. Not a joke one of the people in that group took one of my characters I made and drew a shitty drawing of it with a bloody tampon on top of the paper. I'm not kidding I was harassed by this group and even after several years of them completely out of my mind and away from them they still have this instinct to harass me. They continued with the typical "unalive yourself!" "Fat! Ugly!" And went as far as to harassing friends and people I associated with. Oddly enough come to find out back then and even now I'm not even fat and I was borderline skinny to the point my ribs would show and even worse if I sucked in my gut to make myself less fat. Now I have a more balanced body and my husband has been showing me that it is true and he loves me for who I am and I'm so happy to have him in my life. All and all she just reminds me that group I experienced and literally the last interaction they had engaged me in was ether a year or less than a year ago. Since then I've always been scared of them coming back to harass me further but I try not to let it work me up
