I would say Tyrese Haliburton has a Pacers problem. They've completely moved away from the style where he looks like an All-NBA player. And I'm sorry, but if you're building your team around Siakam and/or Mathurin, you've got nothing. The way we saw them play last year has such a higher ceiling. That said, I don't for a second buy that this is the "real" Haliburton. I mean, people point to the 1st half of last year and ask if it was an anomaly. Nonsense. He was great when he arrived in Indiana halfway through the previous season. He was also great in a more limited role with the Kings. He's always shot incredibly well. THIS feels like the anomaly.
@ZorohudsonАй бұрын
Well and his stat line from first half are totally different. The anomaly seems to be that first part

No sir if your the “best player” on your team at the guard position in 2024 and trying to compete in the playoffs you ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO SCORE THE BALL you cannot be john stockton and go anywhere in todays league tyrese is extremely extremely hesitant on offense to the point its annoying to watch hes been significantly worse the 2nd half of last season and in the playoffs and this season so fat so its not a anomaly haliburton is not a superstar player might not even be close

As a Pacers fan, its been so confusing and frustrating watching him play. Every time he's been asked if he's playing through injury, he has denied it, but I just dont believe him. His back is 100% giving him problems right now. He puts on a back brace and sits on an elevated cushion every single time he goes to the bench. He has lost all ability to beat his man off the dribble and get into the paint consistently, so he just keeps settling on these deep sidestep threes that just arent falling. And even when he does touch the paint, he looks scared of all contact and ends up passing out of drives. If he really is dealing with a back injury, I'm totally ok with him getting shut down for however long he needs. He is the franchise, I still have full belief in him, but this just isnt working right now

lol how can you tell someone that they’re lying about their body? Why couldn’t it be that he has been figured out and he needs to learn how to adjust?
@abiolaolayinka2023Ай бұрын
@@superQman600There's a level to being 'figured out,' this man heralded the best offense in NBA history. Even if he wasn't scoring, he affected the defence, and we can see from what happened with Simmons -back issues and not wanting to take time off to fix it, that not trusting in their body affects everything else. He needs to sit, if there's an injury, if not he should take some time off and figure something out. It's jarring.

@EonArashiАй бұрын
I’ll be honest, I had the Pacers underperforming this year as kind of a given. While the talent level is obviously higher (though not by a ton, given that they had Prime Horford), the 2015 Hawks vibes were very clear. A team that achieved a lot based on chemistry and hot shooting, but rarely looked like they had another gear they could shift into when it was crunch time, be it the playoffs or teams keeping up with or outperforming them in the regular season. Despite all their firepower, despite injuries slowing multiple teams in front of them, they only reached the 6th Seed because they had a bottom-5 defense. Then in the playoffs they struggled to put away two injury-ravaged teams and then got absolutely bopped by the Celtics. The games appeared a lot closer than they actually were. Game 1 was a legit close game when Siakam carried them in the 2nd half. Game 2 wasn’t close at all with the C’s routinely targeting Halliburton. And Games 3 and 4, the Pacers were arguably better without him and still couldn’t hold up despite Brown being the only Celtic to have an efficient performance. The defense remained unaddressed, and while Mathurin is trying to carry them, the chemistry brought by Halliburton’s gravity is far lesser, with his gravity itself being far lesser. Tl;dr, I’m not surprised.

Tyrese denies he's having back issues, but he sits on the bench on a cushion and a heating pad most nights around his waist. All signs point to a lower back injury but he won't admit it....if it looks like a duck, and walks like a duck and sounds like a duck...it's probably.....a duck...

6:44 it actually could potentially be Mathurin based off natural high scoring ability/athleticism and growing on defensive end, not sure if you’ve seen him every game this season but he’s been averaging about 20pts while not being the focal point, while he’s had a few rough nights like vs Rockets most of it is due to him sitting in the corner and the offense going through others some of that is on him to cut and take initiative but while he grows as a player the leader of the team could be Siakam for now and focus offense around them if Hali is out, I’ve personally felt Mathurin always had the higher upside than Hali because natural star tendencies of being able to get to the free throw line, finish very well, shot creation and able to get a shot off much better with his jumpshot in tough traffic, athleticism and the drive to be a better defender

I feel like hali has been too good for too long to just become cheeks. He’s always been a good shooter and passer, if they didn’t “figure him out” first couple seasons then I don’t believe that is the reason. I think injuries might be why, it looks like he just doesn’t have his usual rhythm, but when it’s time to force something at 100% effort (end of game clutch buckets vs Celtics for example), he looks like he still has it. I think something is holding him back from his usual ability and rhythm, which is why the back injury is probably what’s bothering him, or the hamstring from last year
@FOWBOWZАй бұрын
I definitely agree with what you're talking about. I really like haliburton, like many borderline casuals, my eyes were glued to him last year when he seemed like a burgeoning point god.
