Honestly even their run blocking wasn’t good. Jacob’s was constantly hit in the backfield and it was his skill that got him the yards after contact.

I’m tired of hearing about but we are so young. That’s a bs excuse. The Chiefs avg age is 26yrs 3 months the Lions are 25 and 5 months the Packers are 25 and 4.
@williamhermann6635
@williamhermann6635 6 күн бұрын
Yeah thats on average. 8 months across a 53 man roster is a large difference. Numbers clearly arent your strong suit but an average of 8 months more experience amounts to 35 more years of combined experience. Only an overly emotional casual would pretend thats nothing.
@davewa109
@davewa109 5 күн бұрын
exactly. the average is misleading if you dont take a second to think about what the time actually means. Being the second youngest team ever to make the playoffs (second to the packers team that did it last year of course) is a serious accomplishment. Is it that crazy this team couldnt get past the eagles? Their roster is insane. Is it crazier that we did have a shot in that game save for shooting ourselves in the foot repeatedly? This team was good. They have a lot to improve upon. Using youth as the sole reason for their failures is an error. Dismissing it entirely is just as flawed.

When talking about the regression of the wide receivers, I don't think enough was made of the coaching change that happened in 2024. In 2023, Jason Vrabel was the Wide Receivers coach as well as the Offensive Passing Game Coordinator. This past season, Ryan Mahaffey was moved from Assistant Offensive line to Wide Receivers coach, a move which allowed Vrabel to solely concentrate on scheme and concept. The development of a very young group of WR's was given to Mahaffey, who never coached WR's either collegiately or professionally. It's possible as a first time position coach it had much to do with the lack of development of that group. I'd very much like to see Luke Getsy be given some WR responsibility to try and accelerate this group to a level we thought they achieve after the 2023 season.

If they dropped the ball at a rate of 10th best or better in the league instead of the worst, no one’s probably talking about WR regression. Dropping balls that hit them in the hands ended a ton of possessions and points getting put up.

crazy that Watson progressed which meant he had 29 catches(not even 2 catches/game) and 620 yards. Those stats were over 15 games but stats like that are WR5/6 level. The WR room was bad and never really improved.

Fascinating discussion. Aside from the receivers regressing, I think the biggest issue is this. Jordan Love was under a pressure a lot. Opposing QB's (at least with the better teams) were not.

I enjoyed and agreed with almost everything said in this episode, but I don't consider Doubs to be a legitimate # 2 WR. To me he's a decent # 3 WR. Maybe, if he learns to CATCH the ball, he could end up as a low end # 2 or a top # 3 WR. His drop percentage so far throughout his career is at 9.3 % (according to something that I saw on Tik Tok, so it could be an inaccurate stat). Also, the suspension and the concussion history has me concerned for his future. I'm ready for either a veteran or a rookie WR to challenge him for snaps. Quay Walker had a really good 3 game stretch and then got hurt. While I hope that he's turned the corner, I kinda expect him to disappoint early on and then tease his athletic talents JUST ENOUGH to get a new contract with the Packers that he'll end up underperforming in. It's just how things seem to go in Green Bay. I WANT the Packers to reward their players for their play, but not when it's brief and inconsistent. Again, I hope that I'm wrong and Quay ends up with an outstanding 17-game regular season melded to a wonderful 3-4 playoff run.

Matt Lafleur has regress the most. Defense got better and his play calling sucked. I didn't see enough screens and simple change of pace plays. Reed's energy was used more pre snap than post snap. This doesn't work in the post season. Just like shooting three's don't work in the NBA playoffs. NBA playoffs and NFL Playoffs are won in the midrange and trenches. I remember when Brady tore the Packers apart with 3-5 yard passes and went down hill right before halftime. Holmgren used the screen to set tone for physicality because he knew Favre had an arm. Why not use these tactics to build up Love? Lafleur can never understand to how to play with an arm because he never had one. If Love just goes down hill all the time it's a play calling issue.

Myles Garrett just requested a trade. I knew it! Earlier in the season he didn’t want to say he wanted out but he did at the same time. Since he wants out the Packers won’t lose too many picks and he’ll be cheaper than Maxx Crosby. In fact he’ll be cheaper than Rashan Gary as well. Seeing it as the Browns restructured his contract and will be the ones eating the dead money

The play calling this year compared to last year was mediocre. Also, our entire WR core took a step back. We need to stop settling for high RAS 2nd or 3rd round WR with play or injury concerns and go out and get someone with sure hands and proven production. Draft order of importance (pending FA) should be CB, WR, EDGE. I think edge is less important than the rest simply because this draft is deep at edge.

Agree with Perri 100%: sophemore slump. Year one was so high for this team that I don't think many of the guys even realized what they accomplished - much less could lock in on the excellence. This year they found out what it was really about. They will go out more mature next year, with a better understanding of what it takes. Coaching is what smooths over those lumps; and our coaches need to do a better job of coaching these guys up. Good job, Perri and Andy.

From what I’m seeing, it’s kind of the bridesmaid versus bride thing happening. I think people have a right to feel frustrated; there was definitely a lot of optimism going into last season, and when the projected steps forward didn’t take place, this is the expected reaction. Some people go a bit too far in their reactions, in my opinion (calling for coaches to be fired, for example), but I think frustration is warranted and should be expected, which is my response to some of the commenters trying to police the responses from other people. Our GM himself seemed a bit frustrated; calling for a greater sense of urgency. We’ll see what that translates to this off-season. Right off top, the Myles Garrett story has me intrigued.

Well they don’t just hire old white men… and even if they did, it’s never from a place of “racism” as people like you love to cry about. Perhaps the actual racists are the people who have issues with “old white men” in general. Perhaps the people they’ve hired just happen to be the most qualified, as it should always be. Hiring based on skin color or personal identity is, to say it simply, discriminatory. More so on the topic, engaging in conversation and hearing out opinions of those who do not think alike to yourself is a way of growth and understanding, whereas burying your head in the sand whenever you feel discomfort is just living in a world of ignorance. It makes sense for the Green Bay Packers to secure Brandon McManus to a relatively long-term deal, giving them security at the position, while allowing a team-friendly structure in terms of how the contract will hit the cap. It could be a 3-year $16.5 million contract-$5.5 million in yearly average. For Brandon McManus, that would be an impressive recovery after the off-field issues he went through, which led him to a $656k deal with the Green Bay Packers, which is a proration of the veteran minimum. The veteran minimum for players with 7 or more accrued seasons in the NFL is $1.255 million. Even if the Green Bay Packers make a regular contract paying Brandon McManus $5.5 million per year, it would be possible to pay $4.245 million in the form of a signing bonus, making his 2025 cap hit be at $2.67 million. Based on how Brandon McManus solidified the kicking position for the Green Bay Packers and how small the kicker market is compared to offensive and defensive positions, it’s a no-brainer for Green Bay.
