Lost my Wife of 37 years to Alcoholism and heavy smoking last year. Both her parents were alcoholics. Hospital doc told me she was doomed when she started to drink about age 35. He said plenty of evidence that people who have alcoholic parents shouldn't drink. She was only 56, even though the alcohol destroyed our relationship I still miss her terrible.

And its a combination of that as well as a genetic predisposition to alcohol. Anyone who has had a parent who is an alcoholic is just as likely to go down that path and shouldnt be anywhere near an alcoholic drink. Thats the truth.

What a horrifying ending to what greatness that Sammy added to Van Halen. They once all loved one another . Then to carry on disagreements to intervene with the love of friendship to end with a goodbye literally on Eddie's death bed . You can forgive without hanging with that person . What happened here truly shows how arguments can carry stubbornness all the way to the bitter end. Sad considering the achievements and the love they truly shared . I honestly believe had Sammy not got into Van Halen they would of never achieved continued success on the facts that we the fans had married and had been growing up with Van Halen and when Sammy came along he brought that growth called being adults to the table and wrote songs that was at the level of our ages . I pray Eddie is well in heavens realm . Blessings to the gang left and there families. Don't hold grudges. Amen
