The pain of getting rejected

Kinda crazy that I experienced exactly this. Quit my job last year to travel because "I can just get another job easily". Well it was a bit harder than before and I spent 4 months and over 200 serious applications to finally get an offer at a dream job in London. I did get a decent stream of interviews but also a ton of rejections at every stage. It's final stage rejections are the worst because of all the time invested and how hopeful you get. What helped me a lot was keeping a spreadsheet of all my applications and of course learning new skills while you pass the time. It feels great to look back on and appreciate all the work I put into getting this job and knowing that perseverance pays off.

I missed a job shot last month because I didn't look enough into the company's stance on diversity and inclusion. That really taught me to pay attention not just to the job's technical side, but also to how the company vibes. By the way, are data structures and algorithm tests a pain for you too? I find them super tough, especially when you're trying to scribble it all out on a whiteboard. I feel you if you've been there!

Sadly, yes I am in that position and I am currently working as something else which is giving me a mental breakdown 😢and I am planning to leave it just because it is not giving me time to continue learning.
