Someone quoted Michelangelo, who could sculpt marble as if he were God creating the first human, saying, "People would not be so impressed with my talent if they knew how hard I worked." That reminds me of Paul McCartney in the early days recording a vocal track over and over again, maybe a hundred times: we like to think of John Lennon the genius, but probably it was Paul after all who knew something about show business. I should say, "It is Paul."

What a set-up for a story. I assume the old guy in the bed at 0:01:14 is Xuanzong, regretting all his misdeeds. We'll see. 畫聖人=画圣人=painting-sage

The butcher depends on his knife, not on door-gods and kitchen-gods, to protect his property. So in the modern world where we have not even butchers, much less artists and emperors, what do we expect from each other?

吳道子表達的是畫由心生，不局限規則方法，超越想像力把心中的畫面投影畫出來。盲目規則作畫不是畫，那是抄別人的畫風（老師畫的方式）。唐安州不明白什麼是真正的畫，以為拜師就能把技術抄回來，以為把技術抄回來了就很厲害，有成就，可以榮華富貴了。他不是真正愛上畫的人，只不過想要個虛名而作畫，所以吳道子不收他為徒。最後唐安州對吳道子羨慕嫉妒恨，埋怨上天為什麼不給他這天賦，須不知吳道子花了多年潛心研究作畫才有如此畫技而不只是有天賦而已。吳道子那句話，“ 你學畫就拜畫 ”，但必須先修心。對自己都不了解，要如何把心中的畫展現出來呢？既然學畫就要全心全意投入研究如何作畫。

0:11:46 Me thinkst this movie is much stylized, but lately it hath done strucketh me that all art is stylized. In the (far) West, we conceal this under the rubric of "realism": art must be realistic, as if we Westerners had some idea what that would mean, given our propensity for blowing up everything in sight and refusing to take responsibility, having stashed it under the heading of "security" or some empty term like that.

自古以來，藝術本來就是非常講求方法論的東西，尤其是繪畫，當你看到歐洲古蹟牆上與天花板的繪畫時，就應該明白。繪畫和建築結合，且大面積的呈現，那些繪畫非一人所成且具有一致性，證明其中必定非常講究程序與方法。所謂的天才，並不是上天賦予、與生俱來的才能，而是後天比常人更講究方法、更腳踏實地，努力的程度非一般人所能及，這才是天才的真面目。

历史上的吴道子负责画大纲然后指挥弟子上色把吴道子的心中的画面投影画出来。吴道子所教的都是不要把想像力限制自己，而是超越想像力和不局限讲究方法，可以多尝试不同的方法或角度去发挥出来，而达到可以把自己心中的画面投影画出来。

@@mkmason4503 學藝術的人的最大誤解就是看到有人在講方法論時，誤以為別人是在講固定的方法。這世界達到目的的路徑，本來就有很多條。但不能把「不同的方法」講成沒有標準，藝術自古以來就講求方法，並且有相當程度的標準。在古代，不管東西方的差異如何，不變的是藝術同樣都在為政治服務，時常必須要有同質性與效率的產出，所以不可能不講究方法，吳道子的畫也不例外。
