Note that he says a Jewish state. “Jewish” is reference to ethnicity and culture just like Asian or African or Eurasian is a reference to ethnicity and American, Indian etc. is a reference to culture, not a religion while Jew is a religion. Love the talk and have a lot of time for Antony Lowenstein, but I think one of the problems I have is when people talk about " the worst regimes in the world", they always leave one out. That is the US, one of the worst regimes in the world, (possibly the worst),but it never get's said like that.

I'm here to learn about various views and opinions on the conflict in question. Anthony mentioned Israel technology being used at EU and US boarders and I don't understand why protecting borders is a bad thing to do for any country. In fact, I strongly believe any government should guard their citizens as the first priority, which means investing in highly technological boarder patrol and security and developing strong protective policies towards immigrants and refugees. The escalation of crime rates is very evident this year in both US and EU which is caused by unprecedented levels of migration. The large amount of migrants means that the country cannot thoroughly do the criminal check of each refugee. The budgets are also stretched which means that the citizens are impacted by higher inflation, lower availability of rental properties and reduction in subsidies for residents such as child care support, rental assistance and loss of income support. Apart from that, I'm learning a lot from this presentation which I will look into more detail so thank you for bringing it to my awareness. Since there was a question regarding Voice Referendum, I note that Anthony said that he is going to vote YES, even though he has issues with it and concerns as to how it will work practically...it may be due to my training as an engineer but I prefer to be confident in understanding of how something works BEFORE making a commitment to it, especially if it is as impactful as a constitutional change. Call me a conservative if you will. I support that aboriginal Australians have access to all the opportunities that any other non-aboriginal Australian has. Which is why the Voice didn't make sense to me and it wasn't evident to me how it would improve the quality of life for aboriginal Australians. I have a theory that most people with inclination for creative work, such as artists or writers, are more opened to committing to something they don't know how it will end up looking compared to more practical people.

You can call yourself whatever you like, but it doesn’t make it real. If you don’t practice the Jewish religion, you are not Jewish just because members of your family once were. The revisionist Zionist ideology is a more current construction… much like the Mormons or Jehovah witnesses. Unless you can trace your lineage back to ancient Israel by DNA testing, your family was not from there. Jews originating from that land have the same DNA as most modern day Palestinians.

Which is alright. We must have a sense of history. But to be convinced that two different peoples can not live as neighbors, if not inside the same country, is false.
