The amount of misinformed Pokemon fanboys already cheering for the big corporation bullying a small company disgusts me. Why misinformed? Because they think Palworld got sued for the designs they complained about. But since Nintendo decided to sue some vague gameplay mechanics instead, we can assume that there isn't a case to make about the designs being copyright infringement. Meaning the Pal designs are basically officialy legal. The thing that a large amount of the Pokemon community got in arms about and they now feel they were right about with this lawsuit. Except that they aren't right and this is not what the lawsuit is about.

one of those patents that the pokemon company apparently hold is the concept of aerial mounts changing to land-faring ones upon reaching the ground. practically every game with multi-terrain vehicles and mounts functions in this way. that’s nothing to do with pokemon or monster-catcher games in any way. while it may have been applied in recent games (legends arceus, scarlet/violet), pokemon are by far not the first games to have mounts that function in the air and on land. while this may not necessarily be the patent upon which they’re suing, it’s still an absurd patent to hold for a pretty typical gameplay mechanic

Pkmn's $30 DLC. Thirty dollars! Oh but for two games that's $60! For rushed, buggy stuff that wasn't early access. The S/V games are fine, Legends was fun as much as people complained about the stylized graphics not looking good, but the argument that "people will buy it anyway" has been around for several pkmn games now. With some competition, that argument will still be there, and maybe a few people will expect more than "hey PocketPair you made a bunch of money, now give us a cut or else. Signed, Pokemon."

Your not over thinking it Mega, Nintendo and the Pokemon company have been prolific for sending out lawsuits in recent times, and it's becoming an absolute bore... They act as though the idea of monster catching games is their right to defend when it's simply a genre of game... I hope they realise that after this; they'll have a large group of haters who will boycott their products, I will be one of them. They have chosen not to improve on their mistakes in recent years of Pokemon games and I myself am sick of buying these games from them, and seemingly expecting a thrilling experience, and receive nothing but crappy, glitchy, broken gameplay. With Palworld it's expected, for goodness sake it is still in early access, and runs better than the most recent Pokemon switch games... Some of us are simply blinded by nostalgia, especially the fan boys screaming for Palworld to be cancelled, for pocketpair to be bankrupt... This is what happens when you don't listen to your audience and they turn their back on you for a new competitor, they're just sore arsed about it. If I am not mistaken, the creators of Pokemon even wrote out a statement about how most of the audience's ideas are 'silly', and the company laughs it all off with each other, insulting the very people that helped Pokemon grow since the beginning. Don't bite the hand that feeds you Nintendo.

Well. You will get no torches or pitchforks from me. Though i may incur a few myself with this comment 1) if it has taken this long to come up with "multiple infringements" just how hard did you have to try to make a case? Seems more like intimdation hoping PP caves and pays up to avoid court. 2) as someone who has played both games and some survival/ city management / rpgs ect Palword is MUCH closer to a survival game than pokemon. With strong resource management requirements Pokemon is much closer to Yu-Gi-Oh or other games of that vein. In morse recent years it has taken on what I would call "zelda" or Final Fantasy elements. RNG spin the wheel luck game. Yah it's been added on too over the years but there is a reason i never really pursued pokemon past my first 30min of game play: " All garnish no meat" as a certain character in another game once said. Palworld has much more to it in my opinion. If Pokemon can make the changes to transition from their origional style to what it is now *which uses the ideas of multiple other games * and not pay for infringement Palworld should also be able to borrow/ use an idea from various sources without penalty. 3) this is a slippery slope in both directions. On the one hand no one should be able to copy your work an pass it off as their own. On the other we are defining what is "owned" by these companies - where does that line fall for different enough? Will anything be different enough if someone else got there first? This could end Indy developers over time If new ideas and innovation is not allowed to exist and we will continue to have overpriced crap that doesn't get fixed ever (save for modders) looking at you Bathesda. Companies that don't listen to fans and milk overpriced subscriptions/microtransactions and abondon thier games.... rock star..... There are many more fails in gaming when greed is involved. To me this is Nintendo's greed. No case. Just hoping to get the other guy to surrender

Maybe Dragon Quest should sue Pokemon? Y'know since some designs are similar, etc. It does sound like they're jealous that an indie company can do a better job at a monster catching game that has Valheim/Ark elements among other things. I guess that some Pokemon players like myself feel that Palworld is alot better and not the samey offerings that have Pokemon have served us that has declined over the years and the others just want no competition to their beloved Pokemon franchise even though it's a buggy and slow heap of trash, especially with the latest installment. I loved Pokemon but I have become jaded with the same old and there's no freshness of going to a new region with just new monsters always has filler monsters from other regions that keep you playing to fill in a dex. I'm bitter, yes but I'm disappointed in Nintendo and Pokemon Company for trying to stomp on smaller companies so they can be the sole 'monster battler/catcher series' when Dragon Quest did it first .
