A very accurate and honest review of this camera - I own both the Panasonic GH5 and the Sony A7II and have to say I end up taking this with me on family trips more than the Sony. Why - firstly, it feels more nimble, it can record non-stop video given the Micro 4/3 is much more cool and does not overheat much, for photos I still find the colour science of the Panasonic nicer than the Sony. Overall, a very good cinematic camera if you know how to use it correctly. Autofocus has gotten better in the latest 2.8 firmware update with also latest lens updates.

Agree with your reasons why the cameras are just great to work with and you cannot beat the value of any of the micro 4/3's cameras.

I have a S5, but if I need a 2nd camera always rent a GH5. Fantastic camera.

I had the GH5 and it was a great camera. I have now the G9, GH6 and S1. I loved the GH5 and I love the S1 and G9 but I'm not in love with the GH6 I would have liked to be. Sure, the GH6 has better colors, bette IBIS and more slowmotions mode but the image is sometimes weird. The GH5 is really great for the price.

hey Grant Robert thx so much for your video .. i also browses weeks of comparing diffrent brands and cameras and thought loosing my brain till now .. as an beginner and non technik knowleged iam sure now to beeing right on track with the gh5. Great video Grant, thanks for the concise info! I'm considering grabbing an original GH5 to replace my Nikon DSLR as I want to get more into video. What travel/walk around zoom lens would you recommend with solid sharpness? I'm new to Panasonic so trying to understand some of the best lenses I should consider picking up, thanks!

Awesome man :) Yeah either the Lumix 12 to 35mm f/2.8 OR the Panasonic Leica 12 to 60mm f/2.8 to 4 .... You could also look into the Olympus 12 to 40mm f/2.8 - All super sharp lenses :)

I still use my GH5 most of the time with my M43 lenses. The GH5II and GH6 have less fine details in video because of digital low pass filter, not my cup of tea.

What’s the auto focus like? My G7 is a fab camera, but annoyed by the focus shift, even on manual.

It’s not too bad - If autofocus is something you need, I’d go Sony :) I’m soon to pick up a Sony as I need better Autofocus :)

Question: When you have the GH5M2 paired with the 12mm f1.4 and you pan the camera up and down under an incandescent light whilst NOT recording or half pressed do you have the aperture automatically opening and closing regardless of which mode you're in? Have this with mine, just replaced the lens but problem persisting. Another issue is when you're viewing your photos then go back to shooting the aperture buzzes/blinks. Really annoying.

Hi, Have you updated the firmware? If NOT - I highly recommend you do that :) If YES - No I have not had any of those problems :(

@@grantrobertdavies Yes updated 1.0 for lens, 1.2 for body. Guess it's a camera issue only happens with 12mm but the only other lens I have is 25mm 1.7.

Mine was a big "Buggy" when I first got it - But updating the firmware and updating to faster SD cards solved all the issues on mine. Might be worth contacting Panasonic :)

I bought one for myself nearly like new for 700 usd only 😃. Trying to purchase lens for it but finding it difficult. Any opinion? I’m mostly aiming to shoot video on run n gun mode. I also own a sigma 18-35 but i found the setup quite heavy on my gimbal.

Cool - I guess it comes down to what your shooting… Good all round lens would be the Lumix 12 to 35mm f2.8

@@grantrobertdavies I have the exact same set up with this lens, with the latest body 2.8 firmware and the lens firmware of 1.2 release late last year you will be very happy - has Dual IBIS and produces great images.
