What pains me is that celebrities portray this idea that the way to show that you are comfortable in your own skin is by being almost naked. Why can't we show that we are comfortable with ourselves with our clothes on? Why do we have to take any action to prove that we love ourselves? People will know that you're comfortable in your own skin by seeing you smile, living life to the fullest, and enjoying every moment.

I feel really bad for her because she feels (like most women in hollywood) that exposing her body is going to make her look more confident and attractive. I COMPLETELY disagree with that because in no way does that make me look at selena as a more confident woman. I just wish these poor girls wouldn't fall prey to mentality like this! We are more than the appearance of our bodies and we should NEVER feel that we have to expose in order to appear more confident. Even though it is a choice to expose, it's a very popular choice at that, considering most young popular women in hollywood expose and have been doing so for years, so basically it's a fad in that sense, which greatly reduces the real message of confidence these women are trying to portray. It just looks like they are using sex to sell, which may or may not be the case. If they really want to prove to the world that they love their bodies and are proud of their bodies, then they should use those bodies to just do good deeds and not focus on the negative attention, but I have a feeling hollywood doesnt work that way haha

My two cents: Selena is an artist. Her album titled, "Revival" means being reborn, made new...when we are born into this world, we do not wear clothes, we are naked. I thought she did this from an artistic stand point considering her albums name. Artists, I guess you can say can sometimes live in another world where they use metaphors, imagery, color, or lack of color to convey what they deeply feel.

I'm white, and my boyfriend and three stepchildren are mixed. I will never forget the day we were all on our way to unveil something my boyfriend helped build for our local discovery center. It was over 100 degrees outside, and I had on shorts. My boyfriend was poking fun at me that my legs needed some sun. I laughingly answered "I cant help it I'm white!" Our oldest was in shock and said "Wait, you're white? We don't associate with white people!" We had all been cohabiting for quite some time, so clearly she had no idea what "being white" meant. Someone had taught her that white people were bad without even talking to her about what that meant. Our kids are young enough that Daddy hasn't had the "race talk" with them yet, so we don't talk about that in our house... we try to just be good parents, and show our children that we love them... hate is learned on both sides. The only way to stop it is to raise our babies to conquer with love, but it does take everyone to do that for it to work.

Its not surprising. Women sell their bodies all the time to get attention. Its not all their fault, to be honest. We as a society have come to make it so that we praise women who are sexualized and reject women who arent. So, yeah, its stupid to have an album cover where you literally are selling a naked picture of yourself. But, at the same time, we constantly talk about Miley Cyrus or Kim Kardashian when they take their clothes off ("theyre just expressing theirselves"). And we very often celebrate celebrities who use sex as their go to weapon. Its ridiculous because there is a lot of talent in the world.
