As a fun fact, the female voice in the "Thank U Next" section is Tress MacNeille, a rather popular voice actor who has worked with Weird Al quite a bit in the past. - The Yeti puppets are actually reoccuring characters from another Weird Al polka medley "Polka Face" back in 2011. They were seen playing instruments alongside a puppet Weird Al at the beginning of the polka and whenever there was a polka break between songs. - David Wachtenheim & W/M Animation (Who animated the “Bad Guy” & “Shake It Off (pt. 2)” sections) was also responsible for the animations at the beginning and end of "Polka Face." - Jack D. Evans (who animated the “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” section) and KukoMitzu (who animated the "Thank U, Next" section) were also part of an unofficial animated music video released in 2020 for Weird Al's "Now THAT'S What I Call A Polka" (released in 2014). So they're two fan animators who were invited to be part of something official by Weird Al himself! - Ryan Krzak (who animated “Uptown Funk”) was also responsible for two unofficial music videos for Weird Al (which were "Albuquerque" and "Everything You Know Is Wrong") so that's THREE fan animators asked to do something official with Weird Al! - Speaking of Albuquerque, you'll see in the "Vampire" section that Weird Al comes out of a coffin from Albuquerque while also pulling out his accordion from a second, smaller coffin. The "Vampire" section, of course, was animated by none other than Vivienne Medrano (the mind behind Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss) and her SpindleHorse animation team (who are solely responsible for the animation for Helluva Boss). - And, last fun fact, the lady who keeps going "Next" in the "Thank U, Next" section is none other than Tress MacNeille, the voice of the Disney character Daisy and Dot from the Animaniacs.
@eddmario3 ай бұрын
To add to this, Vivian Madrano (the creator of Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss) animated the "Bleed my dry like a damn vampire" section and originally wanted Al as the voice of Lucifer in her show, but he said no because of how much swearing was in it.

The one with the ice cream cones on their heads is a parody of Devo (avant garde New Wave Group) called Dare to be Stupid (the lead track from Al's 3rd album of the same name.) It was so well done that Mark Mothersbaugh, the leader of Devo said got mad, not because he hated it, but because Al had created a song that was, as good as, if not better than they had done. Btw, Dare to be Stupid is majorly connected to the Transformers, who not only used it in the movies but in tv shows. You should watch it if you get a chance.

I've seen Weird Al live more than any other artist. My first musical instrument was the accordion back in 1988 because I wanted to play his songs! Not only is he a musical genius, but his band mates are masters of their instruments. It's easy to play well in your own style. It's harder to perfectly emulate a famous musician, to find "that sound" that makes them unique. To completely change guitar strumming techniques or drumming styles to match 20+ musicians in a single show... World Class talent! My 3rd time seeing Weird Al, I was totally focused on his guitarist, Jim "Kimo" West, and was in complete awe at how precisely he changed styles. Shout out to the band mates: Kimo West on guitar, Steve Jay on bass, and the legendary "Bermuda" Schwartz on drums. They've been with Al since the beginning, a perfect triad of immense talent that catapult Weird Al from just a parody musician to "THE" parody master. I don't want to forget Ruben Valtierra on piano too since the 1990s. These guys truly are masters, but they see the mad genius behind the curly hair and Hawaiian shirts. His original songs are amazing, his parodies are hilarious, his shows are masterpieces of costume changes. I don't know how this man has so much energy after a long touring run, but he brings it all for his audience. Best of all, people I know who got to meet Weird Al "in the wild" or even work with him in the studio say he's a super sweet guy. Many musical masters become jerks with fame. My college band director used to play with Frank Sinatra, and he was ruthless against his musicians. If you missed a single note in rehearsal, you were OUT. Weird Al was the sort where, if you were 5 minutes late to the studio because your kid threw up that morning, he would come over to your house with homemade vegan cookies. All around a good human. We are blessed to live in the Era of Weird Al.

You mentioned that Al always ends his polka medleys in a similar way. It's actually called the "Ear Booker Polka". Besides being catchy and providing some continuity, it also works from an accounting standpoint... each songwriter in the polka medley is paid based on the % of the medley where their song is heard. Since the Ear Booker Polka isn't attributable to another songwriter, Al gets the credit (and the royalties!)

Direct Parodys. Songs directly based off of other songs in rhythm, lyric structure, etc. 4. Polka Parodys. Compilations of pop somgs of a certain genre or era of music. Very much musical time capsules of music played around the time the album was released.

I would definitely agree , Weird Al is one of a king . Actually in many ways the FIRST of a kind. I have been following him since day one when well known syndicated show out of Boston called Dr Dimento was dazzled by his style , and aired what was to become his first hit "my Bologna" (A spoof on the song My Sharona by the Knack.) He had a few other small self produced ditties that got aired too , but that was truly the beginning of his career. As you said. Many did parody before him but he was the first to make it main stream. Many artists considered it an honor to be spoofed by Al. Kurt Cobain said it was a sign he had really made it , when Weird Al spoofed "feels like Teen Spirit".
