So Billy was arrested in 2018, 2 years after the event and served 6 years in prison. In 2022 he got released from prison and started up a new company PYRT (Pirate) with promises of making a Fyre Festival successor. Last month in 2023 he said Fyre Festival 2 is going to happen and the government of Bahamas preemptively responded to him by declaring that he was a fugitive in their country.

Fun facts: There is actually a full documentary on Fyre Festival that kind of went into more detail on what was happening behind the scenes. Basically, the PR and marketing departments knew *way* ahead of time that this was going to be a *complete disaster* and they tried to warn Billy and everyone else who, while they genuinely *did* seem to want to make the event work, clearly had *no idea* wtf they were doing and had alredy made so many lofty promises and took so much money that they couldn't push the event back to find a better location like they had planned or better prepare even if they wanted to. Billy's own debts messing with his decision making was just the icying on the cake In fact, apparently, they really *did* reserve a private island which *really did* used to be owned by one of Escobar's lieutenants or some such. But one of the clauses in the contract was that they couldn't use that fact for marketing, which they *did* and even exagerated it for publicity. This naturally resulted in the contract being dissolved and them being left without a location a mere 6 months before the event. And the talk about a storm wasn't complete nonsense. They *did* set up the location, however shabby it was, but the storm not only soaked everything but also just completely wrecked it the night before the event. But arguibly the biggest victims by far were the locals who basically dug into their own pockets to help make the event possible for the potential revenue it could bring to the community. The vast majority were not and , I think, still *are not* compensated for , basically, months of unpaid labor.

Keep in mind one of the Documentaries was done by one of the companies that worked for Billy so there is a bias issue with it. From what I heard they omitted some details but they were proven to be substantial but it is pretty shady. Which sucked cause I liked that documentary but now I have to talk it with a side of salt.

To add to this, he served 4 years in prison before being released to a halfway home in 2022. He tried to get released during the pandemic, claiming to have asthma, but there was no success. According to his Twitter, he plans on doing Fyre Festival II, but no details as of yet. The Bahamas considers him a fugitive, so it probably won't be there if it happens

Does amazing videos on various topics. My favorite would have to be his videos covering analog horror like local 58, Backrooms and my personal favorite vid: Gemini Home Entertainment. Fun fact: Norman's Cay _was_ used by the Medellín Cartel, and by association Pablo Escobar. But the current owners _really_ wanted the property to move away from that reputation. They agreed to let Fyre Festival use their island...on the _strict_ condition that they do _not_ bring up or even mention Pablo Escobar's association (via the Medellín Cartel) with the island. As you know, the announcement video dropped, and name-dropping Pablo Escobar was the _first thing_ marketing did. This, of course, pissed off the owners, who _immediately_ cancelled arrangements. So, Fyre Festival had to _scramble_ and hastily relocated to Great Exuma on short notice.

At the time this video was released, Billy hadn't been convicted. He _was_ subsequently convicted and sentenced to 6 years in jail, of which he spent about 3.5 years before being released.

Before the festival Magnises was already under fire for various reasons like the owner of the townhouse he used for it filed a lawsuit due them trashing the building and basically their membership cards not working.

we watched a whole documentary thing in my Criminal justice class about FYRE festival & the downfall, they got the ppl who worked with him to speak their side & such.

18:55 i would think the problem is; people hear that tickets are going for 250,000$ and they sold out, so surely they actually have the money to do the event, so some people don't question why they got it for 500$ and just think they got lucky with a special deal when in reality everyone got it for about 500$, and only some got "special deals" that cost up to 1,200$
