9:47 that's because actually the last consonant in the root is ي and the voweling is kasra-kasra, and because of the phonetical processes that start in Fus7a the -iy in potencial "nisiy" becomes a long -ii. It's just easier to pronounce. Same with the alif maqsoura verbs, but the voweling is fat7a-fat7a, and the -ay "mashay" becomes an -aa (that's why alif maqsoura looks like yaa2 without the dots I believe). After changing the voweling in the present tense to kasra, the -iy pattern appears (MaSHaY > beMSHiY) and changes to -ii (same with B2 verbs, but reversed (NiSiY > beNSaY). Hope this comment's gonna help somebody.

thank you! I have been trying to understand the different vowel sounds in present vs past for ages! You're the first one to make sense to me haha, shookren!

yeah it can be really confusing at first when all the vowels seem super random & unpredictable - but once you sit down & try to find the patterns & similarities between the verbs you notice that there are only a few categories & once you learn them everything becomes more predictable & makes more sense i think

Bro, this system that you've created is hilarious 😆 I changed the typology a bit while making notes, cuz I didn't really like, what you did with these names for types, but in general I can say that it changed completely how I look at the verbs in Arabic.

Excellent videos! Just a tip for accessibility: is it possible to not use the dark blue on the text? It is very hard to read. Thank you very much and keep up the good work.

Hi Adrian, is it possible to do an explanation of how في is used in Palestinian Arabic? I've seen it used in a variety of ways and also with pronouns attached such as فيي. Thanks for the videos!

Oh, that's a fantastic idea! Yes, I think I'll make a video on that (prepositions, locations, etc.) next. I've been focusing on getting through verbs, but I think that would be a useful thing to cover. Thanks!
