There is something relaxing in watching Vicky3 content. It feels like the player barely interacts with the world at large, but instead grow your country and make it just genuinely better as the world reacts and adjusts around you. Just building up your country, improving the imaginary lives of your imaginary citizens as you gain imaginary prestige and grow into a great power around them. Where EU4 and CK2 (maybe 3? dont own it) feel like conquest is a major faccet, it feels significantly less so here. And it adds to that relaxing feel, in a good way. Again just an outsider looking in.

Hey Ludi, if you can make a playthrough with command economy while having a sustainable budget that could be a good challenge to create a perfectly balanced economy or fail to do so and crash and burn. You can add the social safety net policies as an additional economic hurdle too
@louloudb36
@louloudb36 11 ай бұрын
Subsidiez more and more building before command economy. Also it is better to go shared property before. And during all the play look at your buildings, the benefits should not be written in red. Otherise search what your buildings are lacking and solved it

The only building u shouldnt build all in one state is naval bases i think. After a base is built, it starts recruiting sailors every month/week, and only after it fills a full ship (1000 seabois) it will recruit the next ship in the queue. So I would spread the bases out to my provinces so simultaneously I can have 3-5 ships recruiting sailors at once.
@luckyluke6249

Great! I did an "Isolationist / Islands only" run with Japan, it was really fun The main issue I had was research speed, even with early universities it is hard to catch up to the europeean powers, so you're often at risk of being invaded by UK, USA or France until you update the army technologies Also the only ressource you really lack is rubber, so conquest in the Indonesia area is mandatory (you also lack opium which is less important, and maybe oil late game) A great early conquest is Hawaii, nice ressources and bonuses there and it's independant Same for the micro states inIndonesia and around, lots of people and ressources Can't wait for part 2! cheers

Pffft overrated. You can always gain prestige with gdp and military easily. And when you get a good economy going and are able to produce a big military. In the grand scheme 20 isn’t very much. You could argue the 20 prestige is short sided too

Hey Ludi, love your Victoria 3 videos brother. Not sure if you've already noticed it, but when your building government buildings to help with taxation capacity; they've added a Tax sorter on the menu which clearly and easily sorts lowest tax cap to highest so it's very easy to apply them exactly where you your giga chad nations need them.

if i'm not mistaken you don't need a port in sakhlin if you fully colonize hokkaido, cuz its connected with land. Also i would prioritize tooling workshops for giving loggingcamps tools to produce more wood but it would take a lot of time to make an industry building than any resource building. So im not sure which one makes more sense but i believe going for tools ws is the way to go

People hate on vic 3 but they fail to recognize that its intent was to bridge the gap between eu4 and hoi4 mixing concepts from both with its own formula. It fills its roll as a transition game perfectly in my opinion and thats what makes it enjoyable to me(you have to have the whole paradox timeline for it to make sense tho as an individual game maybe not so much). Also historically nothing really too noteworthy happened during vic 3 time period. It was probably 80% national development and 20% international interaction in real life anyway.

Japan is my favourite Vic3 country too. It's a medieval carte blanche with lots of different directions to go. With its large population, good resources and high starting literacy it's almost guaranteed to become a significant power no matter what path you choose. Plantation economy? Theocracy? Colonial empire? Industrial giant? Nation in arms? Liberal utopia? You want to try them all and compare them.

Hey Ludi, while youre correct about Yamamoto, I think you should also be aware that general in charge of the defense of Iwo Jima, Kurabayashi, also studied in the US and made a similar observation. The reason I think its important to note this is that Kurabayashi was part of the IJA, which as most people know was factionally opposed or in competition with the IJN, meaning that both factions had members respected and known by their counterparts in the US who understood the futility of attempting a war. Great video, as always, I really hope to see the Japanese campaign continue!

When I play Japan/China/India, I like to build practically everything in the capital. It's much easier to get rid of tax inefficiency in one state than the whole country. Railroads are more effective in the capital as well because of the infrastructure modifier. It makes a funny scenario where one state is like 90% of your GDP. The other states are just for resources. At least until your capital runs out of pops around the mid-game. I have no idea if it's actually optimal or not.

I would say tax capacity is a minor issue for an undeveloped nation, peasants got extremely low income they would barely cover admin building upkeep. Building out peasants should make more profit then covering low taxation efficiency. Also peasant only consume 10% of goods, so making them employees creates inner demand for everything and boost snowballing of GDP grows.
