Round 7 was definitely a nailbiter - I salute you for sacrificing your uninterrupted attention for content. Have a great day!

Justin's respect for Oops is so low that he boards leyline in, doesn't cast them for free and wins anyway. Power move?

Round 1 with the mirror was very interesting. Looked well played to me, atleast game 2 for sure.

On the bright side, you'll never forget DD pumps Murktide again Time constraint + pilot's seat is very tough. Chess with short time controls (Blitz) is a completely different game vs long (Classical), as is observing a game vs playing it. Congratulations on the 6-2 finish 👏

1:26:39 what if you do Probe > Lotus > Fluster > Land > Oracle? Then go Street Wraith, Probe, and look at their hand. If you see a counter you can pass the turn, natural draw, and then win with Fluster back-up. Any other result means you can do what you did, but it gives an option to play against some counterspell hands.

not sure a fluster is guaranteed to counter a force on the next turn fwiw but there should be some kind of modular pile there for sure
@CzeslawPL2 күн бұрын
Great Showcase! One question though... Don't you lose the fluster stack at 2:56:50 if opponent just pays for one of the flusters instead of Trapping? If they pay for one of them they force you to have additional counter or also pay and lose last mana and after you do they could then Trap with better ods, no? Is my math not mathing here?
@IamActuallyLvL12 күн бұрын
i dont "think" i lose any fluster paying wars because i have an extra mana over my op (1 left after DC fluster). but im not 100% sure either id have to really look closer
@CzeslawPL2 күн бұрын
@@IamActuallyLvL1 You are totally right! I've concentrated so much on the stack that I have completely missed the fact you had additional mana floating there. My bad!

Would unrestricting Monastery Mentor and/or Lodestone Golem have any impact on the format?
Is there a video where you talk about the Doomsday Mirror, in particular why combo-ing second puts you at an advantage?
@IamActuallyLvL119 сағат бұрын
Had alot to do with mana and cards. To cast doomsday u need a card and to tap away 3 mana. This is going to leave u behind on cards and more susceptible to daze, fluster, fon etc. It will also tap u down so if ufail your op gets to untap without as much worry of opposing fluster etc. It's not a hard and true rule as you can always sneak in a strong fast combo line but it's the prevailing trend of mirrors.

When making the pile at 1:30:44 why not run a Cavern of Souls so no amount of countermagic can keep you off Thoracle? Is the opportunity cost for a non blue land too high?
@IamActuallyLvL1Күн бұрын
Yes
@IamActuallyLvL1Күн бұрын
many of your wins are gush piles at 2 lands.
@translating_catКүн бұрын
If your opponent counters anything in your pile, it is not Thoracle.

Round 4, could you board out necro versus oops since you are going for a control plan?
@IamActuallyLvL12 күн бұрын
necro is quite good from a controlling stance u just change how u draw with it

Even though I made a complete fool of myself under the pressure of the game (somehow the pressure of the clock really got to me even though I wasn't even playing lol. I do hate high stakes magic.) you do actually have a DD kill at 3:07:08 - so going for DD there would have not only grow the murktide but also very safe and direkt kill threat. Pile is X Lotus X Oracle Oracle. Consider into Lotus, Consider into Oracle, exile last oracle. You go to 1 and have fluster up the entire way through. So my instinct that there must be a DD kill wasn't wrong I just babbled nonsense about what it was :D It's funny how pressure can make you so dumb, like I obviously know that rule, otherwise you'd constantly go for fewer cards. Good opportunity to address how impressed I am with your play. You played this tournament pretty darn well, even when you got the out of game tilt factor, kept calmish even under the ticking clock. Yeah you missclicked, missed an interaction you're not practiced with, but pretty much all of your other plays are defensible. I think that's pretty impressive for 8 rounds with a deck that is not your OTP! Re consign: I don't think a list that pivots to creature beatdown has room to board in consign in the mirror. I've played a bit without a creature backup plan as well and there they just take the spot of the murktides essentially. I'd say it's a worse board plan over all, but gives you more board slots in a jewel or dredge meta game when you don't really want the creatures that much.

Hey Justin, you could have someone else comment on your games, so you can focus more and join in in between games. Then you would get rid of the outside (un)assistence

Livestreaming is much more fun for me and also how I make the best product imo. Chat banter makes it a social exercise and feel less like a job. Im willing to do worse to make a livestream product for every event except the MOCS qualifier.
