I was so disappointed when I saw that was no longer on there! And I seemed to be the only one that cared! Fortnite doesn't have an autocal option so I'm assuming that's why they took out the hardware but Fortnite's calibration system is AWFUL.

@@kitlerfox Playing Fortnite with guitar requires a different calibration than with playing with controller/keyboard or how you mean? Also, I thought Fortnite had the best engine since I've seen plenty of people play with 0/0 calibration no problems, me included

@@ThePizza3d I'm talking about how calibration is done in RB4 vs. Fortnite. In RB4 you have autocalibration, which uses the sensors on the original guitars to detect the lag, or manual calibration, which has you calibrating audio and video separately by hitting the strummer to the indicator. In Fortnite, the calibration is "magically already know what your lag time is", then hit the button to the beat to determine the A/V offset. Awful, especially in a game that is grading your 'perfect' hits now.

​@@ThePizza3dbasically, Rock Band 2, 3 and 4 guitars have a tiny camera and microphone in them. When you go to calibrate, you hold the guitar up to the TV and it plays some white screen flashes and beeps and calibrates everything perfectly. It's removal is just a small nitpick

I feel like I should mention you can disable the home button for steam thing so no controller's home button will ever activate it if you don't want that. As for the microphone thing, as long as you use the same USB port as last time for the dongle, you can just disable the device in Windows settings like you did and it won't reappear unless you use a different USB port which prompts Windows to see it as a new device and set it up as one. This pro tip works for any controller you connect wired or wirelessly to the PC that has the ability to act as both an input and output audio device in Windows. The other stuff I will concede seems like a pain, especially if you have to do stuff like install that alternate driver and stuff (surprised you can't just use something like DS4Windows to make it work which would make things so much simpler). Good to know that this controller is ultimately (for now) only good for PS4/5 for the most part. I will stick to using my PS3 World Tour guitars as my universal "works with PS3/4/5 and PC" guitars. Maybe I'll eventually buy the DOYO guitar and mod it's neck board buttons to not be trash and have one of those as well lol.

Your criticisms are strange. Like.. who on earth used the auto calibration on RB2 guitars? It wasn't a camera just an IR sensor i believe. It was never accurate for me or my friends. We always had to test calibrations for every new TV we played on and we wrote the perfect numbers down so we could change it.

For casual players maybe it’s fine but as an experienced player any Arduino guitar is the way to go. Building them is cheap and even buying them from Etsy is more affordable than the Riffmaster.

Where I live in the Riffmaster is around 80 dollars cheaper than a custom guitar sold on etsy, also when I tried buying one they declined my payment so at least for me it was better and cheaper to buy the Riffmaster

I have a wii guitar and my riffmaster just came in. The wii guitar feels a lot better but i do like how much quieter the riffmaster is.

i wanted something that was plug and play and this aint it i tried using it for fortnite festival and could not get it to work sometimes it wouldnt connect and when it did the strum bar didnt work and in the fortnite menus it constantly just kept going up so i coudltn even navigate the menus and i could not find any help on anywhere felt like i was the only person on earth with this problem

I probably wasn't going to use it on PC anyway, but yes, it was disappointing (if not particularly surprising) to learn that the PS version doesn't work at all (or maybe just "not easily") on PC. And there was never any question that I wanted the Playstation version, that's where all of my Rock Band songs are.

it works on pc it just isn’t tested by sony, thats why they dont label it. But you could always make it work by changing the drivers

​​@@VOIDDOS It really doesn't, at least not yet. The whammy and tilt functions aren't usable in Clone Hero and the entire thing isn't usable in Fort Fest. There's a workaround using some slightly sketchy GitHub EXEs but for the most part you've gotta buy the XBox model. Hopefully drivers (official or otherwise) do release later though

I have so many mixed feelings about this guitar. So many little nitpicks. Like, I'm glad that there's something new but then there's: the awful charging placement, the fact the thumbstick is basically useless, the guitar strap gets hung up on the little nub at the bottom of the guitar, the fingerprint magnet, easily lost dongle, terrible communication about the PS guitar not being supported on PC, the removal of auto-calibration, tilt functionality being wonky. I still prefer my Mad Catz guitar. and it's so much better now that a friend replaced the broken strummer with the StrumFix.

The dongle can be stored under the gray plate. It just pops off and you can store the dongle with the guitar.

Maybe not amazing is good enough, for playing precisely on Xbox or Playstation on the two games mentioned in the box lol, anything more and you're asking too much of it. But I guess it makes sense to not be amazing if you wanted to use it on pc, so there are better alternatives. I'm just glad I have it because I did plan on just using the Riffmaster for Fortnite and RB4 on Xbox, not like I have a pc anyways lmao

I don't think I'm really asking too much of it. Every guitar ever made works on PC except for this one. I get it though - it does do what it says it does. Guitars have been hard to find for a long time and this is the best, cheapest and most reliable option too. I just wish the RiffMaster was a bit more "perfect" considering the price and release date. A bluetooth, rechargable guitar with a calibration camera and mic, a Guitar Hero-esque Strummer and Rock Band frets, with a Select button where your pinky sits that's cross-compatible with PS and PC is the dream. Just ordered a Strum Fix Plus for my RB4 guitar which is the closest imma get lol

Well I actually did my research before buying and got the Xbox version to use on PC and I honestly don’t have any complaints. The guitar is a lot quieter and you don’t hear that annoying clicking like on a usual guitar hero guitar. Yeah your fingerprints are gonna show up but I’m not gonna cry about it lmao. If it bothers you that much you can always get a cheap cover for it. I got it for $130 on Amazon so it’s not bad at that price for the quality you get.

Haha yeah man it's a decent guitar. I didn't mean for this video to come off negative but I guess I was a bit annoyed that I bought a guitar I couldn't really use. Lots of people I've seen in the Reddit and Facebook communities had no idea the PS5 guitar didn't work on PC so it's good to point out. Literally every other guitar does.

Yes, it does. You just need a piece of software (RB4 instrument mapper) and then it works for everything.
