That is an absolute LIE. Eritreans used to be united and no one would see their difference (that was during the era of colonization). Now, they are divided and their difference is similar to the difference of their finger prints. Let alone the different ethnic groups, even the dominant and ruling Tigrinya speaking ethnic group is divided in several factions.

I see The Russian tanks : the Russian military commanders said they were so frustrated during the war , because no matter how many tanks & weapons they gave Ethiopian leader mengestu at that time , they ended up in the hands of the Eritrean fighters . The Ethiopian fighters their heart was not into the fighting , the Eritreans had a mission to Asmara.

Look ,I grew up with Eritrean in Ethiopia.Eritrean are so honest and real friends that ends forever..there was this negative propaganda fabricated by 'weyane' regime(former authorities of Ethiopia)and by America that really damages their image for the last 2 decades but we real Ethiopian know our Eritrean brothers and sisters more than anybody,they are the coolest and God fearing people that the whole world should come and enjoy these lovely people and country !! We sincerely thank you for showing our country to the world. Eritrea 🇪🇷 is a country with a small population, The people of the country live in love and peace. What can we say, the country is broken, destroyed , Eritrea has been under heavy sanctions for more than 20 years, everything is closed to us. Eritrea as a country has no foreign aid and loans from the IMF but we are still surviving . When I look at my country, it remained me like Cuba. Its cities have been destroyed and Cuba is a country under heavy sanctions too. We belive in God Almighty soon our country will make it . 🙏🤗🥰 🇪🇷🇪🇷🇪🇷

Really, everyone in Eritrea surviving because of remittances from their family members in the abroad. Don’t say sanctions you know why is Eritrea in this situation. Because in Eritrea there isn’t any freedom like freedom of expression, no press freedom, no freedom of movement, prisoned without trial, a country with out constitution, no parliament, 32 under dictatorship, one president for 32 year and one party ….. it’s so hard all to explain here. Why the city empty and peaceful because all the young generation either in outside country becoming refugee or in the military services in far a way from the city.

Great video again. I like that you are open minded and you wanted to discover and find out for yourself and you are curious and make great connection with the people. You also have very positive outlook and you make the best if what you get. BTW, between 12-2 pm is the Sun the hottest in the city and most businesses close for lunch. In the old days, people use to take nap breaks. The city comes alive again after 4 or 5 pm in the afternoon and specially during the street evening walks, which almost a tradition.

Shoulder check lool, I laughed hard when you said that. This is my country and I have been away from it for such a long time that I felt as a tourist watching this video. Please visit Keren, the second largest city in Eritrea and you will see how Eritrean people are so divers and the lands are totally different. Asmara is in high lands and Keren is in Lower land. Btw Keren is the place where the Italians were defeated by British in the second world War. You will see war cemetery contains the war graves of 602 Italian soldiers and 614 Ascari (colonial troops) who fell in 1941. In total, there are 1216 war Graves. Keren has history in the world stage. Thanks for your videos. I will check for more soon. (for North American readers, Keren is the name derived from Eritrean language akhranat meaning mountains because Keren is surrounded by mountains. So Keren is not that middle age nasty woman in North America who creats problems 😂)

We must simply reject the legitimacy of a distinct Eritrean state in favour of greater state conceived and built around our ethnic Habasa identity.

More than half of the population lives abroad during the struggle they ingratiated to Sudan and other countries very few returned home , after the independence and still leaving home because of the economy and lack of freedom for the credit of the dictator and regime they keep the country safe and independent with equal opportunity in oppression and arresting the opposition , free Eritrea and all Eritrean in captivity thanks brother

my school was right across the road from the tank junk yard. Our house was off of Adal St behind the Saint Francis Church. My childhood there was absolutely awesome!

The building at 16:24 was the illustration of the article on Asmara in World Book Encyclopedia before I went there in 1961. Also, there was a bar on the left side where I had coffee prepared just like you had earlier in this clip.

I'm really surprised how quite the City is. there are very few People & Cars on the street.
