The penguin is surprisingly good. You don't need any comicbook background, you don't even need to see the batman and this show is still so good. Honestly you don't even need a second season

I was completely blown away by this series!! You’re absolutely right, they don’t need a second season. The next series should focus on another aspect of Gotham. Gordon, the GCPD, Arkham, Catwoman, ect. Matt Reeves is killing it. I love his take on this world.

Oz hoodwinked us. At first, we warmed to him, we backed him and then they pulled the rug from under us to show us why he is such a villain. For a while there, we forgot and wanted to believe in him - just like Vic did. The penultimate and last episodes just made me want Batman to show up and get justice for Vic and Sofia! The Penguin is a masterclass in writing and acting. Thanks for your video!

Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it. And you’re right! It’s like Matt Reeves used the trope of all these films turning villains into anti heroes, and made us care and root for Oz, and then Boom!! I loved it, he is a villain, and I can’t wait for him to come face to face with Batman.

@justgeekingout-1 Thank you for replying! It's lovely to geek out so freely! I totally agree with you! Reeves really stepped it up! The fact that the entire audience is now waiting with baited breath for the Batman to show up demonstrates Reeves' work here is done. It's the best portrayal of a villain I've ever seen. Oz feels nothing and is a seasoned liar to himself and others. I can't wait for Batman to uncover all his wrongdoings! I also loved the link between Selina and Sofia. I wonder how that will play out compared to the comics. What's your prediction for the dynamic between the sisters? Again, thank you for your reply and for letting me geek out on your channel!!

Thank you for geeking out with me, as well. It’s hard to tell how the dynamic with the sisters will be, because I’m not sure The Batman Part 2 is picking up these plot threads. I think I heard The Penguin doesn’t have a lot of screen time in it. Maybe he’ll be building his empire in the background, and he’ll be a big bad in part 3. My dream scenario would be we get a Sofia series that features Selina, or maybe a Catwoman series that features Sofia. They are so similar. One sister’s tragedy turned her into a monster, and the other a hero. Maybe that’s the dynamic, as much as they want family, they are destined to be enemies.

@@justgeekingout-1 @justgeekingout-1 I was thinking the same! I can't imagine they will end up being like Sister Sister! I read that Reeves planned to give Batman a new love interest and I did wonder if that may be Sofia, which would in turn cause the rift with her and Selina... I would kind of love it if Batman rescued Sofia and a love story transpired! Then again, I also loved the dynamic between him and Selina. I also heard the Penguin will only have 5/6 scenes in the new movie, although I wonder if that is because they plan to make season 2 of the Penguin due to its success. I mean, it's some of the best writing I've seen since the Joss Whedon early days of Buffy and Angel (I don't know if you are a Buffy fan but I have been obsessed since I was 10 and I'm now 35!) I would love to see another season of the Penguin! It would also be a dream to get a Sofia-Selina series as well! I really hope Reeves makes them all happen! The 2nd season of the Penguin could be like a springboard for the 3rd film...and maybe then we will see Batman serve Oz some karma! I also heard the Scarecrow is Julian Rush? I read that he could be the next villain but as he isn't called Johnathan Crane, I'm doubtful. What do you think? Do you think Julian Rush is just his cover name and he really is Crane? Or, do you think he is connected to Crane? I was thinking maybe Crane was his mentor or possibly the owner of Arkham Asylum? What are your thoughts? Thank you again for geeking out with me!
