He seemed to be suffering from a total memory loss regarding anything to do with the affair "I cant remember" was his mantra. He also denied being the Post Offices top legal person, he denied it over and over, then a while later when answering another question about how something was his responsibility, he said it was because he was the top legal person....that would be the top legal person that an hour earlier he denied being. The UK legal system has been "might makes right" for at least 12 years. For anyone seeking compensation, compaines bury the case in years and years of delays, for starters. They will let the pot get bigger and bigger gambling the claimant will run out of time and or money long before they get justice and will be forced to accept a settlement vastly below the compensation they rightly deserve. The heart of British society is completely rotten, has been for 30 years.

Watched the drama about this scandal and I can honestly say I’ve never felt so frustrated and angry at an injustice so devastating that people through absolutely no fault of their own took their own lives , made bankrupt, branded criminals and faced prison, the whole thing is so corrupt the police must get involved and finally clear the names of every single sub postmaster.

I first heard about the Post Office scandal a couple of years ago and was amazed why not more was being done to hold them accountable for their disgraceful behaviour. It's insane that it's taken a TV drama to get anyone to give this scandal the attention it deserves. Like you say in the video, the people responsible need to be punished, to deter similar cover ups in the future. This sort of corruption is rife in the UK and we need to put effective systems in place to protect the public.
@dinkster172910 ай бұрын
Is this drama more factual than "The Crown" though? Is there nothing like 60 Minutes or W5 or The Fifth Estate in the U.K. to do an exposé of this sort of criminality or ineptitude or whatever you want to call it.?

Well said Dalia. You have encompassed the whole rottenness of what modern workplaces have become. The class system and the ignorance and incompetence of the judges, did not give the subpostpeople accused of theft any chance of being fairly treated. The ‘establishment’ at the Post Office hierarchy knew that they had the class system on their side. No one cared a toss for the isolated accused whose words of anguish and innocence were just not listened to or believed. Their pain and anguish can never be extinguished.

The use of NDA's proves a cover up and the withholding of evidence for the defence is a crime the police should investigate and charge not just the PO bosses but Fugitsu as well . Every single one of the executives, senior managers, legal team and so called investigators and auditors of both the Post Office and Fujitsu has apparently covered up, failed to disclose evidence or outright lied about this issue. I have been watching the inquiry and they knew there were problems in 1999! E&Y carried out an audit of the IT development and identified serious shortcomings and failures, they recommended it was abandoned. 2003 they identified balancing issues, system failures and so on. How on earth they ever got away with court cases is beyond me. I used to work in audit and would like to think that I and my team would have spoken out about these failings before any court cases were being considered. The people involved are still trying to cover up to the inquiry even now. “I don’t recall, I don’t remember, it must have been somebody else”. They could occupy the Post Office wing in prison there are certainly enough of them. The vast majoriare are guilty of perjury and preventing the course of justice. Starting with the CEO of the post office lock them all up and show these tinpot dictators they are not above the law.

My partner had a manager in his business fraud him, stealing money on a daily basis for over 16 years before someone noticed. She was finally prosecuted and imprisoned. However, it took my partner 2 years of his own efforts of forensic accounting through the books to gather evidence for that prosecution. It would have been impossible to fathom if the system was computerized plus, if he had not done it, the police wouldn’t have either. She also got legal aid for her defense. Her 4 year sentence was reduced by half. She only paid back 10% of what she stole through proceeds of crime, which we had to push for. It took my partner at least 5 years to recover the business through his sheer determination and hard work. The system seem to support her the perpetrator more than us the victim. In some cases, crime pays.
