BLX was the best feeling racquets Wilson ever produced. Such a great line of racquets. Plush and feel. High stiffness without any arm issues. Makes you wonder the C R A P they are producing nowadays.

I own two of the Steam 100 and had a Steam 99 and two of its twins the Blade 99. I could use the Steam 99 and Blade 99 frames interchangeably and could tell no difference other than visually. The Steam 99 has the power channels (?) inside the hoop and the handle size/shape is molded foam rather than a molded composite graphite material like the rest of the frame. I agree with your playtest… except for me the 99 versions played stiffer than the 100 which I felt a bit in my elbow if I was late on 1hbh. In the end… I chose to sell the three 99 frames and kept the 100 pair. I noticed someone posted in the comments of the Tennisnerd’s latest video that Wilson does plan to offer this frame again as a 2025 Ultra Pro 100 (if I remember correctly). I’ll be watching with interest for any confirmation on this. Please help us out here Wilson!.

Ok I will keep in mind about the 2025 Ultra Pro 100. On the stiffness, I have never tried the Steam 99 before so I can’t tell. Pro stock is a different story. It has whole different graphite layups so it’s not the same as retail.

I just purchased the Steam 100 pro stock in the Blade V9 paint just like you have in the video. Been using Blades for most of my tennis career but I’m thinking I might switch to this. It plays like a stiffer Blade with more power and spin. I actually did enjoy that it was easy to whip around due to its light weight. I think I’d only add maybe an inch of lead at 3/9. I only felt a slight instability when returning super heavy serves (120+). Going to order two more if I end up sticking with it. Very surprised Wilson hasn’t released it in a line they already have. I heard maybe next year they’ll add it to the Ultra line. These definitely are some of the best sticks I’ve ever played with though without a doubt. Really want to find a 99 pro stock version though. Those seem to be a lot harder to find than the 100 pro stocks. Great video!

Yup, great sticks. My wife uses it now on stock form and loving it. I think sub-300 gr weight and swing weight are friendly to most women. Strung with Zero-Sync and it really helps with launch angle and power, she can also really feel the the ball dwelling on volleys.

The closest anyone can get to this now is the Blade 101L v9 which seem to be of Steam 100 mold, complete with 16x20 string pattern and 23mm beam size. The Steam 99 mold seem to also be used in the Blade TEAM v8 - apparent on the look of yoke on throat. Would be interesting to see how they compare to these pro stocks...

And if you wanna extend the blade 101L by roughly 1/4 inch to mimic the original Steam, you can simply replace the Wilson butt cap with a Dunlop or Babolat one.

Thanks for the tips. Too bad the 101l in both the V8 and V9 can only be purchased in Europe. It can’t be shipped to the US. The specs do match up to the steam 100 very well.

I got lucky and researched the V8 frames on Amazon US. The blade team is $129 which is the steam 99, and the 101L which is the steam 100 ranged from $140-$187. Now I have to figure out which one. May go 101ll since I demoed the frame a decade ago and liked it.

I would think this Steam 100 Pro Stock is easier to hit compared to the Pro Stock H22?

Probably 50% easier

ON specs steam 100 and 99 are not so equal, in length, weight, beam... do they play similar except for the launch angle? I have a retail Steam 100, and as a clay court player was wondering if steam 99 will be a better fit, but on paper they look so different.

Is it true Steam and nCode versions are the most popular pro stocks on the WTA tour? I wonder how to get a BLX Steam nowadays without paying an arm and a leg
@tantennis3 ай бұрын
Yes Steam is the most popular on WTA tour. Many female pros use it. You have to find it on second hand market.

Prefer Steam 100 Prostock or Blade prostock 18x19?

I go Blade pro stock 18x19. More solid feel and softer but more demanding as well.
