What a fantastic video! I had the privilege of spending many years during my 20’s in Japan while serving in the U.S. Navy in the 1990’s. From Atsugi near Yokohama to Iwakuni and Okinawa. Of all the countries I’ve visited Japan and its people will always be in my heart. 🇯🇵

OK, well this video just made my soul ache, but at the same time, equally, being really entertaining. Your walk through of these Tokyo districts is as close as one can get to a perfect day in a city. The Zakura Show is something I definitely would want see and experience at least once, as I've never seen or heard this style of music live in Japan. As an aside I did stumble across a couple of ladies playing koto's in the atrium of the butterfly house at the Calgary zoo. They were dressed in traditional garb, and I unfortunately can't remember if they were from Calgary or Lethbridge. My friends literally dragged me away, because they were so musically skilled I'd have stayed until they packed up to leave. If you're in need of fix while visiting your mom, I'm sure you could find where they're performing, since you are far better researcher than I am. Needless to say I enjoyed this video, thanks for making me envious beyond belief.

Thanks. Yes I mentioned I prefer Tokyo Skytree for the higher up views but Shibuya Sky is much better as a downtown center viewpoint.

Hi Alina. Really love your vids. We too love Tokyo and Japan as a whole. One thing that we were amazed by was the variety, quality and price of the food in Konbinis, Lawson, Family Mart and Seven Eleven. It would be great to maybe see you do a review of these. Japan cops a lot of negativity due to being too expensive but it can be quite cheap to eat by going to Kombini’s and Izakayas. Eat where the locals eat.

Thank you for visiting my country. But, please allow me to correct one point in this video. In caption 11:50 "Very few people know how to play these traditional instruments anymore", but it's not correct. Those big strings are KOTO, and flute type instruments are SHAKUHACHI. They are one of the most popular Wagakki(=Japanese traditonal instruments). So, if you want to play those instruments, you can learn how to play them from the next day(or this evening). There are a lot of lesson classes. And There are so many Wagakki clubs in junior high, and high schools.

That's interesting to hear. I've just never seen them played that much anywhere in Japan before.

I enjoyed the highlights - the Shibuya observatory with its bird-eye view of Tokyo stood out and the Shinbuya Crossing. You couldn’t show us everything in a short video about the city and hopefully people will also be drawn to what wasn’t shown here. You can’t see everything the first time you visit a foreign country and when you do visit one again in the future, you will discover sights and things you haven’t seen before. A tourist never sees everything on their bucket list. A pity our human life is short to the point most of us will have to be content with the road more traveled although I personally think taking the road less traveled would make all the difference, indeed.

Alina, how do you go about choosing which snippets of music to use and where do you find them? I'm into my third and final week in Japan, arrived in Tokyo 48 hours ago and went exploring around Shinjuku. My hotel is right next to where the big sumo event is taking place, unfortunately all tickets are sold. Great video as always.
