all the "oVeRlAnDiNg" tools who've spent 100k on their "rIgS" either hate you or want to copy your "pLaTfOrM". Things sick, looks like a good truck to drink some beers in after a surf

I’ve been obsessed with service bed trucks lately. Think you’ve got a great setup!
@elikultgen48532 ай бұрын
It sounds like you've got something I call "overlanding fatigue." There's so much hype, marketing, and aggressive advertising that it's exhausting after a while. I just call it endurance camping now. Great setup! I've got a 1st Gen Taco with a high-clearance flatbed with the side boxes you've described. I run out of room real quick even though I made it wider and longer than the stock bed. The service bed looks much more appealing due to the variety of boxes and storage options since I often have to empty a box just to get to something at the bottom.

I was literally telling my wife about this type of setup with the service bed and the camper and here you've done it! It's better than I imagined
@buddhaweatherby3682 ай бұрын
I have been thinking very much along the same lines as a versatile platform. Currently, I have both a dedicated for travel 100 Series Toyota Land Cruiser and a 98 Tacoma for moderate truck things. Having 1 vehicle capable of hard travel and convertible back to ranching, logging, and construction has a ton of appeal. Well done man!

Here I thought putting a truck camper in a service truck bed was my genius idea. I stand corrected. Damn it! Lol. Awesome build sir!
@Sleeper7.32 ай бұрын
Haha it’s nothing new, but you definitely don’t see it too often. I found inspo in a bunch of old build threads from the early 2000s and it’s something I’ve always thought about. Kinda the cheap version of a modern aluminum Aussie tray with a slide in camper.

The more I look at conversion builds and things like this I feel better about spending the 10k to have my bus properly lifted and 4x4 swapped, it’s a cord econoline also a 7.3 and it has 130k miles and I got it for $1000, it’s getting pumped out right now I have a nice battery bank and I’ll have beds kitchen etc I’m so excited

man i want something just like this. heavy duty enough without being overblown. old trucks are the best these days, you can actually fix them if they break.

@@Sleeper7.3 fair enough, I was just thinking to fill that gap, all personal preference!
@Sleeper7.32 ай бұрын
@@morgangriffith6226 Totally. It’s crossed my mind so many times. It’s tough because I like to try and keep this truck period correct as much as I can, and there’s not many old farm trucks out there with roof racks. The gap isn’t terrible, but it’s definitely not great for aerodynamics. I’ve been working on a solution but haven’t nailed anything down yet
