Every detail of this truck is clean and simple. This somewhat spartan appearance lends itself to its beauty. The owner’s fidelity to keeping it original and sourcing all time-period, consistent parts, is quite a feat.

I had a Knapheide bed on a little Toyota work truck, super handy for work, and also good when getting groceries! A no brainer for a rig hauling a camper.

I had a 97 F-350 with a Stahl curved utility bed. Had that truck for 20 years and loved it. Even after doing numerous Banks Power upgrades though, it just wasn't up to towing our 2012 Arctic Fox 25Y. The drum brakes on the rear contributed to my finally upgrading to a 2016 F-350 (in 2018). But I sure do miss that old 97! No DEF, no REGEN, and no DPF. Sigh.

The 7.3 idi really don't quit. I picked a E350 cab and chassis that was sitting in the middle of nowhere for $500 and the damn thing just needed new battery's and some starter fluid. the cab's totaled but I'm lookin to do a swap soon

awesome truck. I would swap a LSD C5 Diff into the truck, so you have LSD. as well as swap the ugly radio out for a later series stock radio that looked much better. The camper is so sick!

I had a work truck with the 7.3 idi turbo. Thing was a beast. I had the best experience working with it. Now i drive a 6.6L gas engine truck. Its not the same :'( i miss the ole clatterbox and the tractor engine diesel smell. Had close to a million and ran good. Someone didnt quite top off the oil before the work day causing the motor to go.

@@skylermummert24 I realize that, but it still needs dual rear wheels. My '96 Dodge Cummins 2500 HD started out as SRW. In that year, you could only get a 3500 with DRW's--there were no single rear wheel 3500's. So they offered a heavy duty 2500, which is what mine is. I added factory front and rear sway bars with polyurethane bushing, larger rear brake cylinders, air bags from Firestone, and converted the truck to dual rear wheels with available well engineered kits. It would be pretty simple to put duals on the back of this camper and it makes a HELLUVA difference. It might not have come that way, but you can make it that way. Mine is a completely different truck with DRW's.

Sleeping in a similar setup was a nightmare for anything even remotely hovering around freezing. Needed thicker walls, better windows, an actual stove inside somewhere, still made it through the months but a camper with just a stove in it was a thousand fold better. Turning on the truck was not an option for heat as you'd find yourself driving down the mountain everyday for gas and it isn't worth it, no you're not packing enough fuel to heat that thing all night every night.

Alaskan lost it for a 55000 camper. I sold them all. Need small shower toilet area. Mine all had small bottle jack to lift top. Hard to jack off truck withside jacks not safe.

its lightweight, low profile ad durable which is much better for rural mountain camping. its also certainly better than the vast majority of canvas pop up campers in the winter. a good blend of durability while not being 6ft higher than the cab like other "winter" campers.
