Happy Thursday Mr. MB_EDC. A nice looking UK legal knife & the thumb stud opener is a big plus. I put thumb studs on my Buck 110 Folding Hunter, 110 LT & 112 Ranger, makes opening them so much easier. ATB Steve in Tel Aviv.

Hey Steve! Have you tried putting a thumbstud on any of your SAKs? Felix Immler has a great video on it. It's a little advanced for me and could easily go horribly wrong. Maybe one day when I have a workshop.

@@MB_EDC I tried a thumb stud on an 111mm Alpiner for a while but I just wasn't comfortable with it, so I took it off. Most of Felix's modifications are also too advanced for me as I too have no workshop with the sort of tools he has.

Great review. I do love the Luna Lite, that’s the knife that made me start picking up other of the Real Steel knives. For me, the Luna is the best of the bunch! Still waiting for the HH Luna with the silver blade to come back into stock. As well as the thumb studs 🤣🤣 Thanks for sharing 😁

My thumbstud is just a cheap one from eBay I think - but it does the job. I like the look of the Real Steel Solis. The Wharncliffe shape blade looks really cool and more friendly than the very pointy Luna....

Are thumb studs legal a cop told me its comes under assisted open laws

As far as I am aware it is not assisted as you are still manually opening the knife. If it were spring loaded, released by pressing a button, or releasing a catch that would not be permitted in the UK. One off my latest videos covers UK knife law and banned weapons.

Just be careful of advertising these as 'UK legal'. It's entirely possible to interpret the law to make a thumb stud fall into an 'assisted' opening mechanism classification. UK knife laws are there to inconvenience (ie fit up) average citizens, not to stop actual criminals who will ignore the laws anyway. What I'm saying is UK knife laws are ridiculous and should be repealed like all ineffective laws.

Thanks. A fair point. I will put a disclaimer on future videos. So far thumb studs and o other OHO devices like the spyderco thumb hole seem to be OK (in my opinion) but I am not a barrister or a policeman.

@@MB_EDC They SHOULD be perfectly normal, same with flipper tabs. Otherwise it's discrimination against people with one hand or limited mobility of the fingers one one side. The problem is there are too many coppers who think they have the right to interpret the law as they think it should be interpreted. It's stupid that I, an average citizen going about my business with no intent on committing a crime, can get nicked for carrying a Leatherman, while some scrote on his way to actually do something naughty can carry a penknife with no big whoop.

@@the_once-and-future_king. True - that's why I rarley take my Leatehrman Rebar out with me unless its in a toolkit in the car. I undrstand the general distrust of anyone who carries any form of knife, but I estimate that most knife crime is commited using kitchen knifes or something mor aggressive than a SAK or leatherman.
