There's a theory that Bakugou's anger and constant adrenaline is his body's way of dealing with his quirk and keeping him alive. Because nitroglycerin can lower a person's heart rate dramatically, so if he's not constantly stressed he would literally pass out. Would also make sense cuz he only started being so angry all the time after his quirk manifested

Well, only counter-argument is that he's not having Nitroglycerin running through his veins, but sweats(!) a nitroglycerin-like(!) substance. His quirk has nothing to do with nitroglycerin as a chemical but its attribute of being highly explosive. I can't remember one scene from at least the anime, I didn't read the manga, in which it's confirmed that he actually has anything to do with nitroglycerin and the amount of nitroglycerin running through his body to sustain his quirk would be instantly lethal. Using it in a medical way you only get a few droplets at best and even that can cause heavy headaches and several less harmless consequences.

That Midoriya thinks he’s incapable of taking care of and defending himself. He HATES that Midoriya tries to rush to his rescue. It infuriates it. Because to him it’s as if Midoriya is saying, “you can’t do this alone, you need my help.” And that’s one thing he can’t stand. He has a HUGE inferiority complex that he hides behind the wall of his MASSIVE ego. Midoriya exposes that time and time again and THAT’S what Bakugou hates. Midoriya, makes him feel weak. Makes him fear that he might be. So he pushes him away, and builds up those walls.

They might not have realized it, but in class A, there are two people whose presence has a big effect. They're not leaders or the most popular, and the two of them don't get along at all. But... before I knew it, their passion spread to the rest of the class. It's strange, but one of them is always at the center of any major event. ... And this is why I firmly believe that this is not just Midoriya's story, but also Bakugou's. Bakugou's part, ironically, just happens to be a bit more subtle. (And I still strongly hope for a "Wonder Duo" type of conclusion. They don't have to be a permanent team, but I would absolutely love it if they became friendly rivals who constantly challenge each other to be better, and work together on really difficult jobs.)

The reason I like him so much is because I believe he has self confidence issues. He may not show it on the surface but notice how he realizes how strong Todoroki is and seeing him use that power on Deku instead of him makes him feel like he’s preceived as not strong enough or not able to beat him at his full strength. One thing I found interesting about Bakugo's parents, are that they're quirks are useless for hero work, despite mixing and giving birth to Bakugo's flashy hero-like quirk. For those of you who don't know, his dad's quirk is a weaker version of Bakugo's where he has to clap extremely hard to make a small spark. His mom's quirk basically let's her sweat lotion. Both are useless in a hero setting but mixed to make Bakugo, which I find amazing. Also i never quite understood why people hated Bakugo. Whenever i saw him rage at people I laughed, instead of getting pissed at him. Edit: Ok i understand why people hate him and i also sort of hated him too at first but that changed almost immediatly for me. And i mean after chap 1/epusode 2

His father doesn't need to clap to create a spark, but he does needs to rub his hands together to to get the acidic explosive out (sweating it naturally, unlike Bakugo). Bakugo on the other hand can excrete it at will, which came from his mother's side (who can excrete glycerin), which is the main reason it became practical.

I disagree with the point about his parents. Maybe if they recognized "small" achievements he wouldn't be so constantly determined to prove he can do everything. Maybe that's why when people like Deku show concern, he views it as pity and is so repulsed or confounded by it. He doesn't even accept compliments from All Might well. Bakugou is one of my absolute favorite characters, but from what little I've seen regarding his parents, I'm not about to credit them with so much forethought as you're giving them. It's not uncommon for kids to feel not good enough as they strive for lofty goals, even when they achieve great strides, if they have parents who didn't acknowledge them or belittled them.

I agree with this. On episode 8 of Season 3, so I haven’t gotten there yet, but to me, I feel like i’m everything Bakugou does, he is trying to prove himself. Whether it’s to himself, to All Might, or his parents, he’s under the impression that he needs to push himself to the very max and be the best at all times. I genuinely think Bakugou has some serious self esteem issues. Even when in dire need of help he tries to refuse assistance and remain alone. Hell, in Final Exams he ends up telling All Might he would rather LOSE than win with the help of Izuku. It’s like he’s under this constant pressure and emotion of not being good enough. To me, it feels like Bakugou is always so loud and boisterous about how great he is because he is tryin to make himself believe it. That loud stubborn personality is covering someone who is socially isolated and afraid of failure.

@@lelalee5543 I fully agree and that's why I think its a fault of the animes writing so far. The anime treats all the other characters parental issues and problems seriously. For instance, Todoroki gets multiple scenes showing what his father has done and how it's effected him and why he's this way. Same with Deku, except on a smaller scale. It shows that his moms disbelief in him effected him and made him more insecure. In the anime with Bakugo (so far) all we get for flashbacks is him looking down on and being a jerk to Deku. Then when his parents are put into light all we are shown is his mom saying he was too weak and that's why he was kidnapped. Which at least contributed to his outburst later. Yet, they never show how Bakugos mom was in the wrong, nor was the scene disheartening or sad at all, it was just, "Lol look Bakugos mom is screaming and being angry-" In my opinion the anime should really address this and show how his moms raising did effect him poorly. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying his mom needs to be Endeavor or anything- just that it needs to be shown she's in the wrong. Like Dekus mom was shown to be in the wrong for not believing in her son, making him more insecure. They could even redeem her a bit and have her learn from her mistakes, like Dekus mom did and is still doing. Heck, even Endeavor is getting a bit of a redemption arc- or they're at least trying to flesh him out more. This doesn't make Bakugos character bad necessarily, just incomplete. Keep in mind I haven't read much of the manga at all, so I'm mainly coming from an anime-watcher point of view.

Just because Bakugou wasn’t affected by some kind of super power physical abuse doesn’t mean that emotional abuse and neglect isn’t real. Instead they try to make his mom seem quirky and empowered, which honestly isn’t the case. It seems pretty obvious that his out bursts are caused by the fact that he constantly feels like he isn’t good enough. Bakugou has enough screen time to the point that he’s definitely a main character/extremely prominent yet he feels like one of the most incomplete characters in regards to why he does what he does + his main goals. It just... doesn’t make sense. I really need to read the manga, they are usually better when it comes to fleshing out characters.

What makes Bakugo really likable is his perfectly flawed self. Sure, he was created as an unlikable character, but that is exactly the reason why he is so popular -- there is more to him than his overflowing ego and anger issues. Bakugo's character is actually a perfect representation of real people in real life. No matter how much flaws we see in others, if those flaws actually belong to the people we cherish the most, we would still find reasons to like/love them despite their negative traits and imperfections. And this is how it is with Bakugo. He was introduced as a really shitty asshole at the start of the manga, but as the story progresses, his character development has really improved a lot -- he slowly started to acknowledge the people around him and he even went as far as to willingly set aside his feelings for the sake of teamwork/cooperation (just like his fight with Deku against All Might). His character development is actually the most anticipated one by fans of the series -- they are excited to see how he will grow and become in the near future because he is an unpredictable character. Out of all the anime characters I have ever known so far, for me, Bakugo is the very first one to intrigue me because he was realistically and perfectly designed to be a character which encompasses traits of a flawed human being.

I've never hated Bakugo, he has always had a very strong purpose in the story being told. I've had friends like Bakugo, you just have to understand his depths. He doesn't treat people differently because of stereotypes, he treats everyone with the same level of respect, which is actually a large amount compared to how some of the other characters treat people. Bakugo cemented himself in one of my all time favorite characters when he didnt join the league of villains. Felt like thats what he was being built up to be so the whole time i was just thinkin yeah whatever. Then he denied the league and it was like holy shit this guy is awesome

I won't say I like him as a person. But I *understand* him as a person. His emotions are very strong, to the point of instability unless he releases them, and grew up with a violent, loving mother. In fact when you think about everything he does through his eyes, he is *attempting* to show amazing amounts of compassion that I think the writer is purposely overlooking and misunderstanding to misdirect people and slowly reveal his compassionate side, to then be able to say "well, it was there the whole time. You just had to look." Just because Midoriya thinks the thing said to him is rude and an insult, doesn't mean it is, and DEFINITELY doesn't mean the writer intended it that way. I'm specifically referring to when he gets captured. He says "don't come, Deku." You can basically see the fear in his eyes. No one would willingly deny help from anyone in a situation like that _unless_ for instance, he was afraid of Deku getting hurt or dying. In fact, the more you look at his actions as miss-guided compassion, the more sense his bully-like actions make...Man I wrote a paragraph XD I suppose Bakugo is my Jiraiya of My Hero Academia, a character with a truly caring and compassionate personality, but hidden under all of their emotional issues, and that the majority of the fan-base doesn't see anything more then the up-front displayed personality. Which annoys me because I absolutely *love* characters with such a deep personality.

He may be a jerk but it is precisely that personality that attracts the audience to him in a way since we are left wondering about HOW he will end up developing in the future. What kind of person will he be in the end? What kind of hero? Deku is more straightforward in that regard so most people already know what to expect from him in the future. Meanwhile, many thought Bakugou would become a villain when the opportunity was offerred but he proved everyone wrong and continues to develop positively as the episodes go by. Thus far, the narrative itself has made sure to humble his initial aggressions by making him fail where he always expected to succeed (i.e. the sludge monster, the Heroes vs Villain Test, the way he won the Sports Festival competition, the kidnapping by the villains, etc.). His complex mindset and behavior attracts fans to him because they want to be able to understand him to determine where he will end up in the narrative. Plus he just has a cool design and great control of his amazing quirk. A character like Vegeta in DBZ has similar reasons for his wide fanbase.

I love My Hero Academia's character designs so much. You can tell that every main character truly has a thought out quirk and design, and sometimes they even have a scientific explanation for it. The characters have in depth relationships with each other. alli hill his quirk is pretty simple. But something simple can be turned complicated when used correctly. And that is another part of bakugo’s genius. He knows how to utilize his quirk to his best abilities. He probably still is the strongest in the class. Not because he’s my favorite character, but he uses his quirk better than everyone else. Todoroki still can’t use the second half of his quirk to its fullest and deku still has really bad technique using his quirk. If you noticed, bakugo has really good tactics when fighting. He’s doesn’t have a big ego for no reason. His strength just allows him to be like that.

lemme just point this out there what I love about his character is that he’s insecure, but he doesn’t show it. He bullied and hated Izuku from the moment Izuku reached his hand out to him, and that’s because he knew that Izuku had the very trait a hero needs to have, and he couldn’t accept that someone who was quirkless has that quality while he doesn’t. I kinda resonate with Bakugou as a character? Personally I often get frustrated when people can't get with the program or when I have to drag my feet because the rest of the class/team/group can't catch up otherwise; but I feel even worse when I realize I have these emotions. I like how he is given his victories and how the story never demonizes him for his drive and his passion eventhough he's an outright asshole at times. Most people define a character by their assholiness or if they pair it up with high aptitude or competence, are instead unempathic (e.g. Atobe Keigo from Prince of Tennis, Ushijima Wakatoshi from Haikyuu). It's honestly quite refreshing to see Bakugou as a character. It's not that he's an asshole for the sole sake of putting people down, it's that it's his drive, one that spills out perhaps in a terrible way (and I in no way condone it) but it's in character and justified for him. It feels like validation somehow. There's redemption and growth for him and that's honestly so nice to see.

So to solve his problem with his feeling he isolates himself. I whole heartedly believe that bakugo is the best constructed character in all the anime ive watched, and is better than midoriya and all the other characters my hero academia combined. I've always liked Bakugou since Episode 1. I relate to him on a personal level, and is just a character you can laugh your ass off at, and when he rarely cries, it hits you deeply, at least it did to me. I don't think Bakugou *hates* Midoriya. you got som points really wrong , i think cuz you're obviously anime only -bakugo doesn't want to become a symbole of peace , he admire the all might aspect of always winning -he did care about all might choosing deku , the end of the season is gonna be about that subject -bakugo still went against all might with a firm believe that he can beat him , he even said "there's no way i can beat you without taking risks" , deku was the one who knew all might can't be beat and that they had to use their wits -his goal is to surpass all might not be like him

I only particularly agree with the last blurb, Bakugo isn't the type of person who's satisfied with a goal like others can be. He's not like Endeavor at all, rather, he'll continue even after achieving what he wants because he knows that it's short lived, and sometimes even unsatisfying. Oh and the choice, although there's more to that whole ordeal rather than Bakugo being salty about Deku & All Might themselves, but rather an underlying issue. But the others are mostly interpretive points depending on what angle you look at.

his case with deku in that fight is basically bakugo realising if all might did choose deku who's path as a hero is different from him , then that mean the his path that he's following is wrong after all , so he fought deku to see what's special about him to make all might chose him yeah it's not about being jalouse bakugo doesn't care for all might quirk

C Vox About the All Might fight, I don't think Bakugou meant he was going to overpower All Might, he meant that can't run away, they had to face him to get an opening to get away. Which is shown when he blinds All Might. Deku was the one who just wanted to run away, and they compromise to make a plan they both will like. Edit: Either that, or he could have possibly wanted to cuff him. Either way.

C Vox 1: Yes, Bakugou admires All Might's aspect of always winning, but that doesn't mean he doesn't like the other aspects of All Might as well. Mixing this in with 4: Bakugou wants to be like All Might in the fact that he always wins, but because he wants to win, he wants to surpass All Might, which would make him the next symbol of peace (or at least it seems like it would at the point the anime is at, the manga, not so much). 2: Matt didn't say that Bakugou didn't care, he said he accepted it, which he did. Bakugou's main conflict with himself, that's coming at the end of the season, wasn't about All Might choosing Deku it was about the other huge thing that happened. Although Deku being chosen added fuel to that fire. 3: Bakugou attacked All Might because he knew that they couldn't run away, All Might was too fast and he wouldn't let them run away. He saw two impossibilities, beating All Might and running from All Might, and choose to fight, while Deku chose to run. Both stupid decisions, and both things All Might addressed and criticized. However, when Bakugou and Deku came together to fight and run, it was using Bakugou's plan. He was the one who thought to use his gauntlets to slow All Might down and run. He planned to use the gauntlets because they allow him to shoot off huge explosions needed to slow All Might down at no risk, but it was a flawed plan, hence why it failed, and "there's no way I can beat you without taking risks."

In the final exam Deku only thought of running, Deku couldn't out wit All Might because he saw him as a god. Bakugo was the one who came up with the plans.
