Its looking like a nice 3 day window to finally get around to cutting some hay. I do a final once over on the New Holland 469 haybine and its ready to cut hay. But then overnight the weather forecast changes and so I decide to not cutting hay. I change up plans for the day and get another form of cutting done. pasture clipping and mowing under fence lines.
We are a small 40 acre direct-to-consumer livestock farm located in Western NY. We provide pasture raised beef, pork, chicken & eggs to our local community. We practice sustainable land practices that utilize natural methods to keep our soils/pastures healthy and our animals happy.
I am the 2nd generation to live on this piece of property after my parents purchased it in 1978. As a child we were not a working farm. But there were dairy farms surrounding us. So naturally I was hooked with farming since I saw my first tractor. As time went on, I worked for a couple of these farms and that only fueled my love of agriculture. In 2019 I was able to move back home as my parents were ready to downsize and I was ready to try my hand at farming. Stacy and logan share the same love of farming as I do. Stacy growing up on her family's dairy farm and logans exposure of farming/tractors at a very young age. Join us on this journey and see where the farm life takes us.

Repeat bushing failure ? 1 - Is there any slack in bearings of wobble wheel assembly. Removing any slack in bearings is easy. There are shims under each bearing cap , one cap on each side. 2 - new bushing should be adjusted up or down so the cutter bar runs centered through guards. 3 - but very important , the cutter bar should be easily pulled through guards. If not look across the end to find any guards bent upward. Straighten each guard point with cutter bar removed or replace guard entirely.

There have been many different issues I have found and corrected with the cutter bar/ wabble assy. All which you have mentioned. I believe the major contributor to the problem is the main frame of the cutter bed has a bow (upward) in the center of it. So it causes the cutter bar mount and wobble box arm to not be parallel to each other. Thats one problem I can't fix. So, I made it work and has for the last now going on three years since I went to that setup. Thank you for all the suggestions you mentioned. I've done or replaced them all. Thanks for watching the channel.

The 3 point hitch system is great isn't it? 😅

Ya there wonderful. 🤣 Someday that sickle mower is going to get converted to true 3pt and I will fab some removable stands on it to keep it in one place when trying to attach it. I got it the way you see it a couple years back. someone had put the lower two-point bar on it. Otherwise, it was designed to bolt to a drawbar hoop like whats on the Farmall's as I know you are more than familiar with.

Cobb hill farm, this is to help you hook up the 3 point equipment easier. Hook up the left link first , then use the right side crank arm to lengthen or shorten as needed to attach the right arm . Then the top link. 👍🇺🇸😎

Thats a good tip. I have done that before to hook up that mower before. I just plain wasn't thinking when I first started to hook it up and then when it slid off the blocks it was over from there. 😒😂 It was just one of those days. Thank you for watching the channel.

Can’t believe you’re using a pto without a complete guard, A friend of mine lost his arm which was torn off at the elbow,🇬🇧🇮🇪.

Well, it didn't come with one when I got it and I'm smart enough to not be near it when its running. I have a few things around the farm that are missing guards and such. They are all older machinery and were missing or destroyed when I got them. Every farm has some sort of pto machinery that's not perfect one way or another. So, you just have to respect the machinery and know that it will always win if you're not careful. I do sincerely thank you for the concern though.

#13 I was taking 3 pigs to the butcher that's why I'm late but still the 1 st comment 🤪😝 I'm thinking you might want to add a crank / trailer jack to your sickle bar to make it a more pleasurable experience 😝

One of these days I want to convert it to 3pt hitch. Then i will put some sort of stands on it to get it off the ground more for easier hook up. Until then I will just complain about it every time I attach it to the tractor. 🤣 I can't complain too much about it. It was given to me, and it's been relatively trouble free.

@@Cobbhillfarms I was in a rush hooking up a very heavy landscape rake to clear some land where my underground fence guy was going to bury added line cus I got a livestock gaurd dog around my pig pasture . Well it slipped out of the 3 point it fell crushing my finger real bad it like blew my finger out . Well I had to clear this it was like at 6 am and the guy was coming . Needless to say I got it done with one hand with the other held under my armpit keeping pressure on the finger . I went to the va and they cleaned it up but since then I put trailer jacks on everything basically , they use to be $18 at harbor freight but now r $35 + , should have stocked up back then lol . Great job with all u do . Todd

Oh man. I've been there a time or too. Somehow you just find away to work through the pain. I think the worst has been when my log splitter crank kicked back and bit me. Thought I broke my wrist. Went to urgent care and x rayed it. Wasn't broke just bad sprain. I worked with a brace for three weeks on it. It was sure interesting the ways you find to do things with a wounded wrist and u make a living with your hands. You mentioned you went to the VA for your smashed finger. Thank you for your service!!
