Just a suggestion, when installing those lynch pins, install from tractor side and flip the ring towards the equipment. Tall grass can catch those and unlock them, yes it does happen if you're in tall grass. Last thing you want is the equipment unhooking itself while in use. Pitman arms, are really easy to make yourself, made plenty for our old JD #5 Mowed a lot of hay with a JD #5 and a JD 450 9ft sickle mowers, later upgraded to a JD 1209 MoCo. MoCo was great for dry weather, the sickle mowers, more of an "iffy" type of weather.

I had a bush hog brush mower that my dad bought new 30 plus years ago. I used that mostly to mow any fields up until I had a catastrophic failure with it earlier this summer so I'm using what I have until I decide to buy a new brush mower. But what I was doing in this video the sickle mower would have been my choice anyways.

After you get the fuel filter in the Bobcat make sure you run it hard to see if it loses power again. The fuel pickup tube likes to get cracks and eventually break off and it's always good to test it out.

I bought it at the steam show from the IH tractor club that I belong to. They sell apparel at the show. It was the only style there that really jumped out to me that I liked.

Good video Matt. There's was a lot to take in at that show. I love watching all the old steam equipment working. And there were good looking red tractors there too. And it cut as good as a nice finishing mower :) I converted it to alternator and had to do some tin work😢. Wish I had known about the one u are talking about! Never have kept cattle …so about that chop… do you do that instead of grazing them because no fence on that field? Just wondering. I bet the cows like that stuff tho, eh.

Thank you. The wedding was so amazing. we will never forget it that's for sure. Yes, I do chop that field instead of grazing it because it's not my property. It belongs to my neighbor, so I do the next best thing and bring the pasture to them.... for now. I'm working and going to be working on expanding our pastures so I can rotationally graze them. I love seeing cows out on pasture. Thats a work in progress.

Old equipment gettin it done. We run a 1965 IH 706, 1964 IH 37 baler and we believe a 1948 5 ton running gear I think made by carriage wheel or something, i think sold by sears. Id have to look again. Eats plenty of grease and i have no issues with letting it take what it wants. Thats key to old equipment in keeping it going. That and the bill hook is getting wore on baler so we started using a heavier twine, like a lot heavier. We just did 250 bales and it didnt drop 1 knot. Smaller twine itd drop about every 8th bale or so, randomly on each side.

Nice tutorial on knotters! We use almost the same haying equipment as you, a NH 273 square baler and NH 56 hay rake and NH 644 round baler. All pulled by CASE tractors.
@Cobbhillfarms
@Cobbhillfarms 17 күн бұрын
Thanks. Knotters seem to intimidate people but they are pretty simple once you understand how they work. The older equipment is essential to the operation of our farm. Dont have the overhead of expensive loan payments and there simple/ cheap enough to maintain. There is not to many CASE tractors being used for farming around here anymore. I can think of one farm on the next road over that still farms with CASE tractors. We have a few CASE collectors in the area that show theirs. But that's really it. Thanks for watching the channel. Its greatly appreciated.

@@Cobbhillfarms Your philosophy is nearly the same as ours. We just picked up a very good NH 275 baler for a spare from a retired farmer who was going to scrap it for $600. We figure we have less than $10,000 in our haying equipment and it is very dependable. Or, we could have $100,000 in haying equipment to do basically the same job. And, be paying interest on borrowed money. No thanks!
