Lovely story thanks for sharing! I love everything about the Halloween season, the leaves falling onto the ground, the cooler temperature, the smells, the harvest, the colours and also the haunts! Best time of the year! 🎃

Great story, Dan, thanks for sharing it. Halloween has always been my favourite holiday, growing up on The northeast coast of the US it was a huge part of my childhood. For me it is the earthy autumnal scent in the air, the crunch of dry leaves under foot, and the misty, murky weather. It's a whole vibe. 🍂👻🎃

Yes!! This is it! Bring on the murk! Love that kind of weather.. so atmospheric! Thanks so much for watching and commenting 👻🎃💀

My Halloween atmosphere is kinda shaped from two experiences, first, when I was about 7 my mom took me and my brother to a place called EnterTRAINment, home of the largest model train layout in America. We were there because my brother was (and still is) as interested in trains as I am in Halloween. We went there in October for no particular reason, and they were running a Halloween event. The main focus of this event was in a room you reached by going most of the way around the train layout. In this room they had set up a small "Haunt" with no jumpscares or scary scenes of course. As you went through you grabbed candy from bowls spaced throughout. This "Haunt" was titled the trick or treat trail. The scenes were all cheap and generic, and the candy wasn't particularly good, but I loved it. I already had a passing interest in Halloween so when I was fully immersed in a Halloween world something clicked. The trail spit you out in an indoor pumpkin patch (with pie pumpkins of course) in this patch there was a cheap pumpkin animatronic that sat there telling jokes. something about the immersion combined with the autumnal color pallet made me love it. I returned there as a Halloween tradition for the next 2 or 3 years (sadly they will be closing early next year) Then, just last year now, when I already loved Halloween due to my previous reason, I went to a real haunted house, Fear Columbus. I had a blast, and loved all the scenes and actors, but as I left I only had one thought in my mind, "Well I could do better than that" so this year that's my goal, making something scarier than Fear Columbus with my new Haunt. Despite my confidence in defeating Fear Columbus, I know I will never make something as perfect as the trick or treat trail. (now that's what I call a block of text I probably should've made that a video lol)
@HalloweenDan2 ай бұрын
Wow they are both great stories and if you do manage to build a hunt that’s better than fair Columbus I’d love to see it. You should definitely make a video talking about this, because I think it’s great when people in the community talk about something other than props And just their love of Halloween. Thanks for watching and commenting bud 🎃 👻 💀

LOVED that story! I guess we all have that one moment that defines our perfect Halloween. I'm with you ... I like to go for the eeriness and spooky feel. Not necessarily the jump scares. But I like it different each year, too. I don't want people saying "OH, he added this to the decorations this year." So each year is a different setting, trying to get that perfect spooky vibe each time. I almost succeeded once, too. 😉 How's the castle coming?

I think the atmosphere at Halloween is one of those most important things that each of us who celebrate Halloween are either looking for or trying to recreate. I’ve sometimes felt like I’ve got quite close to re-creating it too but like trying to catch smoke it quickly slips through my fingers. But each year the challenge of trying to create that perfect atmosphere is one of my favourite things to try and do. Thanks for watching and commenting bud. 🎃👻💀

That's really cool Dan! Such an eerie but also fun experience! Thanks for sharing. I haven't purchased any props/ decor this year for myself. I am really trying to find other ways of bringing in the Halloween feel. I got into Halloween and the holidays because of my niece. She loves seeing the house decorated and I have plenty to do that with now.

For me, halloween is all year round, I'm happy if it doesn't snow, yes, I'm in Canada. Love your story, and to me, that would be a great setting for halloween. Cheers.
@HalloweenDan2 ай бұрын
Thanks so much. I hope it doesn’t snow for you this year.. but in a strange way, I bet that creates its own, sometimes eerie atmosphere. Like fog, I often think snow has that way of making the world feel quiet and still… and add some spooky creature amongst that and some gravestones and you end up got a pretty creepy scene. Thanks for watching and commenting 🎃👻💀

What a great upload. I literally could picture what you were describing in my head and for a moment I felt the chills, the enigmatic element that Halloween brings. I was 13 in 1996 so I feel like I can relate very much with not only your thoughts on Halloween but also on the animatronics that you review. I had a fundamentally important trick r treating in the early 90s combined with Goosebumps and Universal Monsters. But, my first recollection of what could have triggered my love for the holiday would be a combination of Disney’s tale of the Headless Horsemen/Ichabod & Michael Jackson’s Thriller music video.

First of all, you are a great storyteller. I was completely enthralled by it. I felt like I could feel the atmosphere myself, and I loved it. Thanks for that brief spooky journey. My Halloween atmosphere is actually very similar. The air is crisp and cool. The daylight is subdued with a cooler tone as if trying to hide the leaves now bright orange hue. A low hanging morning fog covers the ground. The world is unnaturally quiet and still, as if time as stopped all around me. I hear none of the forest sounds, as if the animals themselves have abandoned their homes. Yet in the quiet there is that lingering feeling of something watching me. It's not enough to feel scared, but slightly unsettling. It's a feeling I had often as a kid, living by the woods my whole life, and I love it. In those moments I am hyper aware of my surroundings, and the slight unsettled feeling makes me feel more alive and in the moment than usual. If this feeling can be recreated in any way for Halloween, I am very happy. Thanks for the great video my friend!
@HalloweenDan2 ай бұрын
Wow, talk about being a good storyteller! The way you described that feeling of being alone in the woods but it’s eerily quiet was almost identical to the feeling I love. Every time I’m ever anywhere that eerily quiet for no reason I get the chills. I love that kind of atmosphere around Halloween. Thanks so much for watching and commenting bud 👻💀🎃

I know exactly what you mean there is just something about that time of year. You feel it change in the air on the lead up to it. Halloween is really about 3 months long if you think about it. We get all the sneaks and excitement brewing in one month, the next it is going into shops and seeing that stuff in real life. Then there's the final month where it is just full speed ahead. There is nothing like waiting for shops to put stuff out and going into a shop and seeing everything out early. For me as a kid it was walking into the local garden centre and seeing all the blacked out sections they had built for all the christmas lights. We used to have a JTF not far from our house and I used to love getting the books in the post with all the halloween stuff in, meaning they had it all out and I would then nag my parents to take me. On the last page of the book there would be a sneak at their christmas range and I would flip, they did it every year but for me it always was a shock that someone could have their decorations out so early. There's a smell too I cannot describe it but it just smells like memories, it was probably dust and cheap Chinese latex.

I loved this story Dan, it was totally awesome! I've always loved Halloween. One of the main reasons being that Halloween originates from my country. But deeper down if you asked why I love Halloween I would give you an example of a Halloween night. You're young and you're trick or treating with family members and you can smell the wet autumn leaves and you can hear the crows squawking above your head. Halloween has always been a special day for many many people, and I honestly think Halloween will be celebrated until the end of time!💀🪦 Great vlog Dan, can't wait to see more!🎃✨

For me it's a foggy misty graveyard as I spent a good portion of my childhood playing in a local village church graveyard with my cousin. Really stunning in the sunlit daytime but as dusk starts to fall it takes on a sinister edge and as kids it spooked us on many occasions sending us running home only to go back the next day. I even revisited it for a photo shoot when I first completed my ghostbusters cosplay gear.

Yes! This is some to mine.. as kids we spent a lot of time walking around graveyards as my dad was a boy of a history nut and loved stuff like that. Graveyards are atmospheric at the vest of times, but add a bit of fog of mist and you’ve got my idea of atmospheric heaven. Thanks for watching and commenting pal 👻💀🎃

Mine (surprisingly) is similar to yours. I remember we went to The edge at Alderley edge on a wet foggy day. Probably to pick conkers or chestnuts 😂 and no-one else was there and it was so quiet and creepy. We were just walking around the woods talking about the tale of the wizard and we were looking for witches in the caves and I remember thinking this is so spooky but loving it. Now I can go there in the middle of winter or summer and still think ooo it feels like Halloween 🎃
