Thank you so much for reviewing this seat. I’ve been strongly considering getting it for my ‘09 Street Glide. I have a hard time flat footing at a stop as I’m 5’8”. I wouldn’t mind so much if the wind wasn’t so strong up here in North Dakota.

I put this seat on my 2019 Street Glide. I love it and my wife loves it too!!! John, I'm 5'11 1/2" tall and this seat works great for me. I also have the frame mounted extended highway peg mounts with the ASR Floor boards, they are Awesome!!!!

Love your videos. I love that you talk us trough each repair idea. I am looking for a video that explains installation of a HD front tie down kit on a 2018 Ultra Limited. I have searched every website I can think of and can not find a tutorial. Winter is upon us and this little project seemed so easy, but it has proven more frustrating than I imagined. I bought the seat in October and have put about 1000 miles on it and i really enjoy it. It's a little pricey but you get what you pay for. The seat will ware that ass out on the first few hundred miles but its the most comfortable ride i have felt. Love it

i have a 2019 street glide and am 6 foot 2 in. i ordered the asr seat. i love this seat. it sets you lower to the ground and sets you back a little bit. i rode to adams campground with this seat on and had no problems. my longest day was about 720 miles. yes i was sore but i probably would have been much sorer if i didnt have this seat.

The 8 shows significant differences in color saturation and anti-vibration/image stabilization. The 8 is a good investment in my opinion.

The 8 is a much clearer unit. Glad you upgraded. My Road King is a 07 Im bummed. I wanted the ASR/Ciro seat. Had to go with the Mustang. I have had them in the past and they are excellent. I’ll get the asr on the next bike.

Wow, I never thought it would be that much of a difference in the video quality since I typically shoot with a Hero 5, but man they've come a longgg way if that's the 8. Going to have some more of the new road glide loaded on my channel soon and if I do any riding videos I'm definitely going to have to invest in an 8! But great video and I've been wondering the same on this particular seat as well. And still goo specs to know since I'm only 5'8"-5'9" and ride and 2015 RG special and an 08 Deluxe. So, I may have to look at other options before looking into an additional seat. Thank you!

I like those drag style bars. I prefer drags over apes. Stock bars tend to bend your wrists alittle. I take corners better with wide drag bars. Im in the process of finding a seat for tall riders. But ASR is probably out of my price range. Sharp looking seat though. Gel tends to get hard when in colder temps so i dont do gel anymore. Good video man 👊😎👊

I like the new transitions especially the magical way made Jon appear and then reappear. As to whether or not I think the new camera is better than the old camera since you’re going from Hero 5 to the Hero 8 you will notice a big difference.

Hi John - good review. I agree with a lot of your highlights: I’m 6’2” and even I thought the seat sets you back a bit too far, until you put the backrest on, which transforms it to another level of comfort. I like how it keeps you lower to the ground (my previous Mustang seat was more plush, but as you say, the foam raises you artificially high). The ASR is firmer then I was expecting but as you say, it is not a hard ride and indeed does “give” a little as you wear it in. I have a 2019 RKS - combined with the Legend Revo A shocks, the ASR seat provides a comfortable ride all day. Keep up the good work.

I bought this seat, I must have got lucky and been one of the first. Yes, you cannot return the seat but it isn't $1,000, it was like $460. The seat was hard and I was told after 1,000 miles it would be broke in. After 2,000 miles its still hard in my opinion. Better than new but still hard. It does drop you down a bit which shorter riders might like but at 6'1" I didnt really need it. The ASR badge rotates which drives my crazy because I am a bit OCD. It is a gel seat so leaving it in the sun gives you a hot seat when you ride after its been sitting. I only wanted the solo seat and backrest, no rider on my clean look bike but the backrest is tall to allow the passenger seat to go underneath it. I had to cut down the metal 2 inches and that made the backrest perfect. I agree with John that the hidden bolts are difficult but I really like the clean look. If I were to do it over I would get a bit softer seat but its definitely better than stock.

I had been thinking about getting one...then I saw that the ASR pillion is only 9.5 inches wide opposed to the 14 inch wide pillion of my Mustang seat. I just can't do that. John, I'd also like to add that the seat does have 2" of adjustment to slide forward or back. I installed mine 2 weeks ago, but it's been nasty in east Tennessee my days off. I also am not a fan of the attachment of the seat. I like to pull my seat and bags when I wash. This will increase my wash time a bit. Great vid, and the 8 was crisper and video packed the shake in the comparison shot. Ride safe brother and Merry Christmas.

The biggest issue I have with the ASR seat from Ciro is you can't return it if it doesn't fit. Ciro doesn't allow returns per their web site and I called them to verify.

The video from the Hero8 was a significant improvement over the Hero5, especially in terms of color and stabilization. You mentioned the possibility of getting a Hero8 to put on your helmet and move the Hero7 to the handlebar. Because of the improved stabilization, I'd recommend using the Hero8 on the handlebar. Likewise, consider the Osmo Action - similar features to the Hero8 plus dual screens.

Significantly less vibration on the 8, though I am not sure whether that has to do with the camera, the bike, the road, or some combination of all three. Picture is much clearer on the 8, and the color/contrast is much better too.

Camera is much smoother. I just got that seat. Still breaking in but like it so far. ITS A PAIN getting those nuts on. The stretch seating was great with stock bars but a little long with my new KST 12” Outlaw. I just rolled them back a tad. Helps my posture.

The 8's image stabilization is no joke. Picture quality alone wouldn't be worth the spend but when you add in the stabilization it's probably worth it. As for the seat, I have to have a backrest or my lower back is hurting after a quick bit. Oh, and I'm only 5'8" but I can flat foot my Ultra with the Mustang seat.

I purchased the HDTallboy for 2 up this year. Worked great. Love it, but 95% of my riding is solo. I can't go back to stock! How does this solo seat compare to the Tallboy? (rider side only of course). $460 can be a big gamble.

Yes to the 8 - seem better Quality Picture! I got "foolish" and just "swapped" my 2015 XG500 on a Used 2018 Heritage Classic Milwaukee 8 with 8860miles - rain &snow here so garaging till 50+ Degrees - hope it's a Great decision! Kept my 2011 Heritage Classic, too!

John, what shocks do you recommend for a bagger(I have a '16 Ultra Limited). I have read all the reviews and watched a lot of videos and decided on the Legend Revo A, I talked to my local dealer and they don't recommend them at all, but do recommend the Progressive 944s. I am still on the original air shocks and they are good while they have air in them. Thanks

The 8 definitely is more stable than the 5. I've seen videos comparing it to the 7 and it didnt seem a ton better. I dig that seat, I wish I didn't have such stubby legs or I'd buy one 😂
