Every time I hear that main melody of the Spiritfarer theme I get emotional. What a game.

This is some top-tier analysis and insight and I appreciate you for sharing! I watched it when you gave us the warning to go watch before continuing with the video and it's a REALLY solid trailer! I loved that I was able to get an idea what the game is about, its gameplay mechanics, and a feel for its core game loop because it gave time to process everything that's going on instead of implementing tons of jump cuts with half-second clips or zoomed-in shots of something without giving me outside context.

My favorite game trailer of all time is Omori's original Kickstarter pitch trailer (where you can tell they had little to show, but the vibes were brilliant and the Bo-En song used became inextricably associated with the game), but damn you just made me rewatch this Spiritfarer trailer and cry all over again.

@@DerekLieu Not sure I do that but this idea of blending nicely different tracks of the game's ost in one trailer is not something I've ever thought about, I'll keep that in mind

I don't usually comment on things but this video game is absolutely life changing. The depth of the characters and the intertwinedness they have with each of their own regions of the world. It's emotional and hits hard but it's entertaining enough and complicated enough to keep you sucked in and not constantly sad. Combined with the perfect soundtrack. I bought this game on a whim and it's magical

@DerekLieu Especially the title reveal with a perfectly timed Tetris. And it has my favorite music from the sound track.

1:45 Hey now - what you do to end a trailer is that you have a clip of a big monster charge/pounce the player and as its jaws or something like that have perfectly covered your field of vision (or something like that) you smash-cut to the title of the game.. Everyone knows that.

Dead Island ripped its money shot from an old french short film. Down to the piano.

What's the name of the film?
@mangaas4 ай бұрын
@@DerekLieu I've tried to find it multiple times, i don't remember the name, but its a shortfilm, taking place at night, (french?) They're in city streets, male/female couple, has a similar piano / violin melody, same panning shot through the window. Pretty sure if its still somehwere on KZbin, my comment from like a decade ago would probably still be on it. I think I was specifically trying to find the song from the trailer, and went down a rabbit hole, and came across that shortfilm somehow.

If you didn't liked the trailer, you won't like the game. I watched it back then, and I decided that it's not for me. So yeah, it's a great trailer!

I'm a connoisseur of film trailers myself more so than game-trailers, but I think I've isolated some things that for me consistently seem to make for the best trailers. The best ones I find is the once that show you things from the movie, but things that are only really interested in communicating the spirit of the movie and the feel of the thing. I was going to list the do's and don'ts but I'm pretty inebriated so I'll just show an example of the perfect trailer and one can take notes from that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rpi5oGxsf8akm68 While barely saying or "explaining" anything or telling you anything about what happens in the movie etc it tells you exactly what kind of a movie it is, what it's about and how it feels.

what if the game is like dark souls where telling the story is near impossible because the story is very hidden in the game?
@bitcoinzoomer99945 ай бұрын
You should review edits, that'd be fun
@DerekLieu5 ай бұрын
You mean like the stylish montage edits? I don’t think I’d have anything to offer because their goals are totally different than that of trailers.
