Shoftim - “Judges..”
Deuteronomy 16:18 - 21:9
Moses instructs the people of Israel to appoint judges and law enforcement officers; “justice, justice shall you pursue…” Moses proclaims. Such justice must be given without corruption or favouritism but be meted out with balanced scales and without human bias. It must be carried out with righteousness, according to the character of Our Father.
Moses states that all sinful crimes are to be thoroughly investigated and all evidence must be strictly examined before action is taken - only by the account of two or three witnesses, can someone be convicted and punished.
Next, the parsha gives us the prohibitions against idolatry and sorcery; strong language is given to deter the children of Israel in following after necromancers or magicians, those who draw their knowledge from the sun, moon and stars and those who would seek to pull the children of Israel away from Adonai. The laws regarding kings are then given, with the restrictions on the glory they can give to themselves and how they are to remain as ‘one of the people’ in humility. Following this, the guidelines for the “cities of refuge” (for those who have committed manslaughter) are reaffirmed.
Finally, the rules of war and engagement are given: those who are exempt from fighting in war, the requirement to offer terms of peace before attacking a city is pronounced and the prohibition against cutting down certain trees when laying siege to enemy cities, “for man is like a tree of the field”.

I fell asleep several times during the presentation not because it was boring but because your style is very relaxing. You present amazing connections between the TANAKH and the New Covenant, demonstrating how-as you correctly state-that it is one entire book. There were times where I became emotional and cried because of what the Holy Spirit revealed through your parashah presentation. Thank you for your wonderful presentation. Surely you are anointed.

Shabbat Shalom. They didn't bring the man as well as the woman, as she was apparently caught in the act. Yeshua knew they were being dishonest. Great teaching, praise Yah.

Both were equally guilty: was she a prostitute?... The priests would indeed have recognised the finger of God: perhaps also bringing to mind the commandments from which no one is clean..

Shabbat Shalom 🙏🏼 thank you for this rich teaching Tommy. I’ve been thinking on the adulterous woman. The Messiah tells her to sin no more, is it possible she was guilty? And that He was showing forgiveness through repentance? He didn’t ask her if she did it He rhetorically asked if the accusers were there still after they left in shame. The lesson to me has always been about who among us is worthy to judge. No one. A living illustration of: For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Why is it impossible that she would have been guilty?

I’m curious as to why he says entrapment is un-just.

Because it's a premeditated action or device, thereby acting instead of waiting on God's judgement

@@janyard6413 How do you know that wasn’t his justice being carried out? For example Yah used Jehu to entrap and destroy the worshipers of Baal in 2 Kings 10. Most child predators, or people hiring assassins, are caught by entrapment methods. Show me in the scriptures where entrapment is wrong. Intent determines whether it’s done maliciously or justly. Yah left the Canaanites in the land to test the children of Israel, if they would keep his ways or no.

Shalom y'all ❤ I believe it is no longer lawful in the UK as previously innocent people were enticed to eg. steal opportunistically before the target got there. That person would then have a criminal record and it was deemed unjust since it was not their predetermined intention to steal
