Driving on the highway in the snow with no hands and not looking at the road while talking to a camera is wild

There was no snow or people on the road, I was driving in a straight line, and using my knee to keep the wheel straight. Any decent driver can handle that.

This is indeed a brilliant all around lens. I have it permanently on my a6000 for stills and it never failed me. For outdoors is a no brainer. Way better than the 18-135 in build and ergonomics (i am never using variable aperture or external zooming lenses). And because i like some grain in my photos, i managed to shoot even at night (f/4 and ISO 2000) with nice results.
@miguelcruzonline Жыл бұрын
I bought this lens years ago for my a6000 and loved. Recently used it on my a7iv shooting my kids playing soccer and it was perfect. A few months ago I sold it. Thinking I was no longer shooting apsc. Well, I ended up going back to the FX30 and bought another copy of this lens.
@jaymills1720 Жыл бұрын
What do you pair with 18-105 for lowlight. And why not 18-50?
@nyambe Жыл бұрын
I have that lens, indoors f4 is not fast enough for an APSC. I usually bring a 23 1.4 along. If you only want to take one lens the sigma 18-50 2.8 is also a great choice. It's tiny and very sharp
@EddieStudios Жыл бұрын
For sure. I get that. I needed to be able to zoom in more than 50mm. I hope to capture a lot of wildlife with this lens and be able to shoot some indoors. I think with the dual iso of the fx30 in most indoor situations, I'll be good to go. I will check out that sigma, though. Thanks!
@ChrisParayno7 ай бұрын
False, with enough light and the 2nd ISO base layer, it's enough
@nyambe7 ай бұрын
@@ChrisParayno Yes, this is what I am saying. Indoors you dont always have enough light. There is also the DOF. I have them both, and I use the 18-105 more. Mostly for the reach. The 18-50 is sort of in no mans land. It's not wide enough, not enough reach. I keep it because of its awesome macro, and it helps checking which prime I will use. 90% of the time I use fast primes with the FX30 .. 95%

I had this lens and I had a problem with it. I am curious if you have a better unit. Between 85mm and 105mm autofocus was realy bad, both stills and video. What are your thoughts? I used it for events like classical music recitals in university hall.

Nice look at the lens…but PLEASE PLEASE don’t ever drive and have no hands on the wheel, it really isn’t worth it for you, or for anyone who you might put in danger (or yourself). Aside from that, nice vid

How does this combination behave in low light scenes? For example people dancing in disco
@TheFandangovideoguy Жыл бұрын
I have this same combo...is a good one as long as there is enough light...I considered getting the sigma 18-50mm f2.8 but I won't do it for now. I wish Sigma had a superzoom at f1.8! I have the Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 for Canon but I don't want to use the Sigma adapter to use it on the FX30...are you "happy" with the 1080p quality? The 120fps didn't look good...I intend to shoot mostly 4k30, 4k60 and sometimes HD 1080p. I like the camera so far. I didn't get the XLR handle. I will get a cage for it. I don't think those mounting holes on the FX30 are strong enough...dunno!
@EddieStudios Жыл бұрын
Low light is always a thing to think about. For apsc we do need a good zoom with a f2.0 or better. I think for my use this is going to be my lens for most occasions. The mount holes are strong. My side handle doesn't have a problem.
@TheFandangovideoguy Жыл бұрын
@@EddieStudios I have the sigma 16mm f1.4 and the 30mm f1.4 and that helps with the Clear Image Zoom in 4k. The 16mm f1.4 can zoom in a bit to 24mm f1.4...sometimes when needed..but I would like a F1.8 zoom for sure...the sigma 2.8 is nice but not quite what we need...I'll get a cage for the FX30-it will look nicer too...but I prefer my small mirrorless cameras without too many accessories. They should be small and compact I think. Thanks!

I have an old camera - a5100 - with this lens. I use it for my gimbal camera - works great. I seldom shoot lenses wide open so f4 doesn't bother me at all. I like the wide range of focal lengths possible. I seldom use the zoom while shooting, but really like having amazing range you can get with the lens. Sharpness is fine for videos I do. Bought mine used in Saigon for 7mil vnd - about $300 US. Good show! Cheers.

I’m seriously considering moving from Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 to this lens for extra length as well as the power zoom feature.
@RezaAliMN Жыл бұрын
I’ve made my move. Got a good deal for a used 18-105mm. Wished it had the focus breathing option for this lens. Otherwise it’s awesome. You don’t know that you want the power zoom until you need to zoom smoothly.
@TelevisionCrews Жыл бұрын
Can you use power zoom with the FX30 with this lens. You mention it is mechanical, mechanical could mean power zoom or with the use of a mechanical external device. But can you control the focal length all the way from 18 to 105 mm by pressing the power zoom fiction?
@EddieStudios Жыл бұрын
You sure can. I do notice it's less sensitive than my other power zoom lens. All that meant was that I had to adjust the settings in the camera to speed it up.
@TelevisionCrews Жыл бұрын
Then this is the ideal camera to record back of the room shoots filming presentations and conferences. With power zoom, XLR inputs with the handle, in a small body, it is easy to record in any venue with the FX30. It beats Black Magic new line up of cameras designed for conferences for about the same price.
