At that time, these men often trained with self-made equipment and also made mistakes during training. Not all of these gentlemen were well proportioned or handsome. The first magazines aimed at gay or bisexual men were bodybuilder magazines. Only there you could see half-naked men in a male-dominated (wild) world. In those magazines, there were no staid, middle-class men or men trapped in a stuffy family who seemed born with a suit. The women there were not particularly attractive at that time and showed little sexappeal in public. Excluded, in casual wear or during sports.
