Was at Shibuya SKY last week. Had bought a ticket for the evening (It is unlikely to get in without getting a ticket days before). Took 30+ minutes of waiting in line just to get up, then when we were done, it took even longer to get back down the elevator (Long lines!) Everything mentioned in the video is great, but it does seem difficult to do in one day. Great videos though... I like this guy's content. Keep putting out more videos!

Thanks for the kind words! I am surprised about the Shibuya Sky piece. I went when there wasn't alot of tourists, so the lines weren't bad at all. I'll have to go again and check how bad it is now lol.

From Asakusa to/from Akihabara I usually take the Tsukuba Express. I find this quick but, more importantly, much less crowded!
@harblife Жыл бұрын
Yea that is a good route too! Thanks for sharing!
@kc3302 Жыл бұрын
@@harblife Important thing to note is that Tsukuba Express Asakusa Station is a totally separate station to the Tokyo Metro/Toei/Tobu Asakusa Station, about a 10 minute walk away. Normally such a station would have a different name by adding, for example, Shin (new), Nishi (west) or the company name to the station name, but they didn't do that for this one so we confusingly have 2 stations with the exact same name. What you can do though is to arrive at the Tokyo Metro/Toei/Tobu Asakusa Station and walk to Sensoji Temple (as per your itinerary), then walk west to Tsukuba Express Asakusa Station and catch the train direct to Akihabara (you don't need to change trains). There are various things to see on that walk such as old and new shopping areas on pedestrianised streets.

Another great video. Thank you for emphasizing that Shibuya and Shinjuku are even better to visit at night to take in all the night scenes, lights and crowd. And thank you for including places to eat as well. Love your videos.. get to the point style with real recommendations (and some humour too!).
@harblife Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! Yes I think Shibuya and Shinjuku are much more appealing to walk around at night. That's when you can see all the night lights and see those areas in its full glory!

lots of great information but i honestly cannot see how you could fit all this in one day except if you're running from one place to the other without really taking the time to visit or enjoy the different areas. hopefully 4-5 days will be enough to fit all this because there's a bunch of amazing places that you mentionned that i'd like to see :D

For sure I agree with you. It was a stressful day, but it was just to show how to make the most of your 24 hours in Tokyo if that's all you have! I'll be sure to have 4-5 day itinerary vids coming soon!

@harblife Looking forward to that 4-5 day itinerary. In October, we will arrive for 16 nights in Japan. However, we have zero interest in Anima, Harry Potter, Pokémon, cosplay, etc. We are 60 and don't grasp why folks would spend their money on that stuff. Thanks.

Great itinerary! I’ve learned that there is way too much to do, see, and eat in Tokyo. It’s always changing too. Sometimes the best encounters are not planned but it’s best to have some kind of plan.

Hi Harb! Thanks for the great tips! I and my travel buddy will be spending 5 days in Tokyo taking in as much as possible, so it's always good to have more recommendations of places to visit and things to see. One thing you mentioned that I find EXTREMELY important and terribly overlooked is travel time. I made the mistake of not taking this into consideration during some of my early planning stages, and this oversight forced me to literally re-plan all 5 days; still wrapping up actually xD. Cheers!

Another great fast-paced, info-packed video! Watching the video, I knew you would end up in Shinjuku and Shibuya! Lol. By the way, did you do a video on Planets yet? I've been to Borderless in Odaiba twice (before it closed) but have been hesitant to visit Planets because of having to wade in the water and the unidirectional touring (no backtracking allowed). Do you have any idea when/where Borderless will reopen in Tokyo?
@harblife Жыл бұрын
Yea it just makes the most sense to put it at the end since that's where all the night life is lol. Not sure when borderless will open again, but I have read that there is a new teamlabs opening in Roppongi. I'll keep you posted!

Your channel's great so you're one of a handful of content creators I'm messaging with my earnest request (bordering on fervent and desperate): What are your ideas for things to see and do in Tokyo for someone who's already had a few action packed trips there, taking in all the museums, galleries and much else? I love Tokyo and would love to go there again this year but I'm worried all I'll end up doing is shopping and eating as I've done the museums, main 'touristy' stuff etc. I don't mind doing doing either obviously, but I'd love some ideas for cooler, hidden shops, events and lesser visited little pockets within the city. I'll be travelling with my husband and am not sure he'd want to spend 10 days doing nothing but shopping and eating. What do lovers of the city do when they're already very familiar with it? Is this an uncommon jam to be in, I wonder? Must be as nobody makes videos or blog entries covering this rather delightful, most luxurious of conundrums. Thanks for reading and I welcome everybody's ideas and suggestions.

Hey great video! Do you recommend going to sensō-ji by day or night?
@harblife Жыл бұрын
You could really change the order of Tokyo Station, Akihabara, and Asakusa to what ever you want. It'll be about the same transit time. I think Sensoji is better to visit at night because the lights really make it stand out and there are generally less tourists there at that time.

Harb I have a totally interesting question for you because since you live in Japan, Im sure youve gotten asked about this question. Are you able to use the JR pass in the regular lines, but instead of scanning you let the machine take the ticket and spit it out on the other side, or do you still have to go through the JR line for the pass, even if you arent taking a Shinkansen, like for example if you are taking the Yamanote line with the pass. I heard it on one video, but I unfortunately cannot find that same video, and thought I'd ask you since you live there. Thanks for the great content as usual!
@harblife Жыл бұрын
Nope! Just put the JR Pass through the ticket slot like you would a normal train ticket. Just has to be a JR line that's all!
