Like the band itself, Mayu is incredibly versatile. The first impression is the insane fry screams, but you quickly start to appreciate her many nuances of technique and interpretation. And that's aside from her weapons-grade charisma...

Can't wait til you hear Mayu scream, Saki and Hazuki shred, and Tamu pound her drums, and for some fun vocals from Haraguchi-san try Monster. Mayu is the best rock singer in the world right now, and I won't hear any arguments to the contrary.

Much as I love Nemophila in super-heavy screaming metal mode, I'm also a massive sucker for an unabashed big ol' power ballad. I bloody *adore* this. Absolutely gorgeous. If you're going to do more Nemophila, I'd strongly recommend Ama-Te-Ras from their most recent album. Or, for slightly older stuff, Ray of Light, Style, Adabana, Hypnosis.

Checking out more Nemophila? Excellent choice sir! Ama-te-ras from the same album. Completely different... utterly glorious.... In ways I never really expected. Hypnosis from their first album. Adabana from the second album. There are offical vids on youtube for all of these. Have fun.

a band where they are all close(see the official video for "Life"), love to have fun with pop and dance ("Night Flight"), rock out (Rock and Roll IS), and shred and growl "Oiran"....truly special band that has became a favorite quickly...very diverse song catalog of originals as well as amazing catalog of covers--they all are great musicians(Mayu too, listen to her Voice, truly an instrument of their sound), and all take part in composition and writing with the arrangers. Also to the interested the official channel here on KZbin has a ton of content from MV to live stream to behind the scenes...they are very involved with social media too and interacting with there fans...I recommend anyone who loves rock music to check them out. Mark I recommend you check out a cover ("Sugar"-SOAD, "Kurenae"- X Japan, "Aces High" Iron Maiden, etc) hard original signature song--"Oiran"(multiple meanings to the band, translated "first flower" and the band is named for a flower, its the first song released as single, etc) and "Monsters" next! thanks for returning to the best band out there!

I really like Odyssey and NO, I do not miss the 80's. The first NEMOPHILA song I heard from them was REVIVE and holy shit did it grab me. As always, Mark, thank you for sharing your reactions.

Nemophila were given this song to do as the soundtrack opener for a popular Japanese children's anime movie called "Butt Detective". The dude in the anime has a butt for a head. Only in Japan hey. Despite all that the song has great lyrics and is a kick ass ballad.

Hey man...I am a huge Band Maid fan and enjoy the channel.....But this band is absolutely incredible !!!!!! The musical talent in this band is off the charts and can play any genre. You are really missing out by not doing more reactions to them. They are really taking off. Check out Revive....Hypnosis and their new song....Ama TE Ras.....you will fall in love with these girls !!!!

You never know what to expect when NEMOPHILA releases a new single. I remember when Extreme shocked the Metal world by releasing their power ballad some 35 years ago. As you said, it’s refreshing to hear the style resurrected and reinvigorated by NEMOPHILA. BTW, this is one of very few songs where we don’t hear a solo from SAKI. Instead, they showcase HAZUKI’s wonderful melodic playing. However, the intertwining leads of both guitarists behind MAYU’s are fascinating. Other recommendations include: AMA-TE-RAS, their latest single and perhaps the most “NOMOPHILA” song yet. ADABANA (rhymes with “Papa, Mama”) is a masterpiece (OMV). OIRAN was their first original song, and remains their show closer. Watch the recent official live video. Ah crap, just wrote a big gushing rant and posted it in the wrong place. What a knob. Recap; love this band, Mayu has a thousand voice’s and they’re all a 10, totally correct this song needs a film, good on ya, great video mate. Oiran live or Adabana miiiigjt be up there as favourites. If ya like Pop/Punk maybe try Change the world. Cheers dude

Nobody misses the 80s... if they say they are, they're lying. ;) Yeah, hair metal was, by and large, full of crap with a very few notable exceptions. As you say, this follows the rules of the power ballad, but does it at a very high level of competence. Good call. Rock on Mark!

Grew up in the '80's, some really good times but power ballads were never part of them. Love Nemophila but this one is not for me no matter how great Mayu is.
