i feel like cursed energy is just psionic energy if it's generated by emotions, controlled by the brain, and gives consciousness to beings dependent from emotions as well. there's also heavy emphasis on the soul, which is just untethered consciousness

Binding Vow has to be the most misunderstood thing in JJK power system. People constantly joke about Sukuna can sacrifice this and that to gain infinite power, but *BINDING VOW HAS LIMIT* . For example, if you want to improve your skill, you need to spend more time practicing it. Thus, restricting your free time, but your skill won't improve infinitely by spending all the time practicing. There is a limit!!! In fact, it's reminded multiple times in the series just how limited Binding Vow is: 1. In season 1, Yuji couldn't switch with Sukuna whenever he wants -> Sukuna even told Yuji that "If you pursue selfish gain beyond your means you'll earn retribution." 2. In season 2, Nanami can't damage Dagon despite his 2 binding vows (the dull blade+overtime) 3. In season 2, Miwa can't damage Kenjaku with her "never swing blade again" binding vow because the strength difference between her and Kenjaku is too high. Overall, Binding Vow is just a little power boost, *NOT PLOT HOLE* !!! This isn't HxH, so characters won't become God level by sacrificing their everything. and yes, I know binding vow is inspired by HxH, and I really love HxH as well, but that doesn't change the fact that Binding Vow is a more balanced and realistic power boost. You can love both series and still admit the truth. After all, these 2 series have completely different direction of story. One similar power won't affect both values at all.

Hold on, that's not how nen works either. Gon just didn't use ploy armor. Nen as a system works based of emotions, beliefs, desire, and hard limitations. Gon literally was in so much despair, he was so broken, and wanted nothing but revenge, felt nothing but anger. So he sacrificed his life, and nen, to gain the power of his peak level, for nothing but petty revenge. It's not something he could of just done whenever he wanted. Nen contracts aren't just plot conveniences. They are instrensiaclly tied to the world, the characters, and the system. An ability like limitless in hxh would be almost impossible. It works like an equivalent exchange, the more you give up, the more you get back. The greater the desire, the greater the return, the higher the emotions the more you get back. Not one nen contract works as a plot device. Yes they work differently, but binding vows have done much more than some nen contracts. Some nen contracts have been more potent than binding vows. Maybe I'm miss understanding you, maybe you think both are great. But it just seems you feel the were op and plot devices

Calling binding vows more balanced than HxH when they're much more loose and random in their application (leading to Gege abusing them when he sees fit) compared to nen contracts which have logical and limited applications. Just because they offer less of a power boost doesn't mean binding vows are more reasonable. They lack a clear baseline and are much more poorly implemented

I find it more believable to be x2.5 rather than ^2.5. The reason for this is because... put numbers into a calculator to the power of 2.5. If an average boxer can punch at 1000 psi, then their black flash would be 31622776 psi, over 30,000x stronger. Realistically if your punch is capable of affecting someone, then landing a black flash should mean they get vaporized from the force of what you just did.

@@Inspectre11 cursed energy reinforcement…. Yea….. I mean come on 2.5x damage isn’t that much more damage. When yuji landed those 4 black flashes on hanami it would have outright killed jogo if they landed on him (they wouldn’t but still). And it’s not necessarily the strength of the punch but their cursed energy like how yujis divergent fist hits, that’s that power being put to the 2.5th power. And uh we have no clue how powerful a persons cursed energy is. Gege said it’s hard to do that math because if someone had the base cured energy strength of 1, putting that to the 2.5 power won’t do shit.

@@Inspectre11 Don't forget that Cursed spirits and sorcerers are beyond busted in terms of durability compared to regular humans. It is said that the carpet bombing is required to at least have a chance against regular special grade spirit, if Disaster curses are even stronger (and they are by far) it suddenly makes sense why Hanami was on their knees after 5 black flashes from Yuji and Playful cloud hit

To me regular cursed energy was like getting electricity from fission. Whereas possitive energy was like getting energy from fusion. One requires 1 particle and 1 atom. One to atack another. Allowing for the "easy" breaking down of already heavy atoms into lighter ones with the remainder of the mass released as energy. Fusion forces at least 3 atoms to collide against each other, two are fused into a hevier element but the other is completely annahilated, releasing a whole lot more energy and leaving behind more stable atoms too. Gege probably never intended it like this but it was my headcannon to justify why it was harder to achieve and understand, and yet had a stronger effect than mere enhancement, going into the realm of regeneration and life extension.

actually lapse is the overdrive version of a technique, we see this with Gojo. His default use is his infinity that simply divide space into a infinite space between him and would be damage, his lapse is blue where he he divides space so hard that it creates negative space that normal space rushes in to fill.

Idea for a long-form video essay: In Vinland Saga, Thorfin spent an entire season focused on rage and revenge because of the killing of his father. But Canute, when he learned who killed his father figure, did not. I think the surface level answer is that Canute was not a toddler and did not witness the killing first-hand; but the dichotomy of Thorfin and Canute’s reaction to the essentially the same event (carried out by the same killer) is interesting.

To call this power system perfect is an insult to all people who doesn't have reading comprehension problems. And truth be told there are not many of these people in JJK fandom. Complex power system in these kind of stories always ruins them. The complexity comes from the lack of better writing, you'll see what i mean soon, but i will hide spoilers, so if you haven't read ongoing - you won't be spoiled. The problem of JJK is that it presents us a very simple system and down the road mangaka turned it into overcomplicated mess for no good reason other than to stretch the story longer for sells and to fix problems that appeared because of poor writing. It got so complex that not even mangaka is able to keep up with his own bs anymore. Think about it. Some dude is able to change all rules of the Culling Game (which is basically world's settings) by using Binding Vow with himself, in order to change win condition for others in the game because the final condition is "redacted". And this Binding Vow is about killing "redacted" for his grand plan. Plan, that ironically "redacted". Like what the hell is this shit?! How's that suppose to work? Who allowed him to make this Binding Vow with himself with condition that world rules will be changed for everyone else until they "redacted". How the hell can you make Binding Vow with yourself when other people's "redacted" are the condition to fulfill? What the? Who is this "judge" to allow this kind of Binding Vow to take place?! Or another bs. Mahoraga - an entity powerful enough to destroy anyone if given a time. Turns out the sorcerer with 10 shadows CT is unable to tame this beast, because 10 shadows doesn't have anything that give you ability to destroy Mahoraga with one hit. So in order to get full potential out of this CT, you would need someone else to kill him for you in a ritual with you. And then if someone will "redacted" - your entire CT will be lost forever. So essentially what that mean, is that there is no real reason for 10 shadows user to even use Mahoraga because anyone strong enough will be able to "redacted" to "redacted" so the entire CT will be lost. Mangaka pulled it out of his ass just to justify the last "redacted". Man, the writing is eh.. mid basically. The story is really mid. Even Gege admitted that he failed badly with timelines and that this story would be better if it wouldn't take 1 month but half a year at least. When you think about it, Yuji's combat experience is merely 1 month top and he is already "redacted". And Gege was desperate in his attempt to fix this major plot problem by introducing yet another bs CT out of his ass to "build up" him. You know what i am talking about, the "redacted". I'll give him respect still, it's his first work and it's popular. I just think that it's extremely overrated.
