A-RISE were the greatest school idols in the world. They were the winners of the first Love Live! and were μ's superior in every regard...yet they still lost. Why was it that group of perfect idols that lost in the end? Why didn't they receive as much character development as Saint Snow? I feel like A-RISE were good in that they did their job perfectly. They were the best rivals for Muse in that they actually pushed them to work harder for their goals. And in the end they choose completely different paths. A-RISE went to become a pro idol group because that was their goal, but Muse were just school idols and they wanted to keep it that way. Do i wish they got more like Saint Snow? Well, yes and no. I feel like A-RISE had a purpose and they did it perfectly. They were the first winners of Love Live and were the thing that inspired Honoka to create Muse. I do wish they got more songs though and were more active like Saint Snow, but honestly i feel like that's what makes them unique. idk where i was going with this....but A-RISE were definitely great for the time they had.

I agree, I love A-RISE so much that they are the best rival group and most perfect in my opinion of the history of Love Live!. Because when Honoka saw A-RISE, she saw her first ever light and she found out she could be Muse with all 9 members. Then, Muse started to shine quite well until they shined so bright that they surpassed A-RISE as the most popular school idol group in their country. A-RISE really was shocked of how Honoka had shined so bright on that stage which was flashing within people's dreams and eyes, knowing that they couldn't shine any longer. And after Muse standed in the circle of hope which was the driving force of the group and the light shined upon them, A-RISE was surprised they succeeded almost everything of the world. It is said that A-RISE was the first group to change the world until Muse shined among the world, then they changed the world even more by bringing bright light. Even with just 2 songs from A-RISE, it still makes them the best rival group.

I think A-rise are more like kpop idols in the sense they focus on perfection and wowing the audience. They try not make a single mistake or else their entire career is ruined. While muse is more like Jpop idols. The focus more on making the audience smile even if they're not perfect. They don't care if they make a mistake because they just want to have fun while performing.

A-rise is always the perfect foil to μ's in alot of ways, seeing as how theyre opposites of each other in more than one way. Whether it was their style, tone, approach and otherwise appeal to the masses, μ's had a different goal in mind when trying to accomplish this. I think you brought up alot of good points in this video and in your blog post, fantastic work. Now make a blog about the untold story of the idol group george!

Nice video. A-rise were critical to LL to me because they were actually interesting and clearly talented. Their music and shows were well made and they were obviously better than muse at first. A-rise weren’t jobbers or easy prey for muse, they beat muse once and gave the girls a goal to strive toward and an icon to emulate. Also shocking party is a h*cking banger.

Making A-Rise a kind but confident rival group is such an incredible choice. They weren't assholes, they didn't cheat, and they didn't treat μ's as below them. Plus they were STRONG, beating μ's on multiple occasions. When SIP first aired some people found them boring but in retrospect, they're actually pretty refreshing.

Tsubasa left A-Rise to become a Demon Princess drummer for a group that shares its name with a Pokémon. Still kind of annoyed that they went all, “let's perform SUNNY DAY SONG together", only to spend the entire song jumping in the corner..

@@rosidin. The purpose of the song was to do one BIG performance with all the school idols of Japan. It became the School Idol Anthem, if you will. But like, just before all of this, Muse and A-Rise agreed to a joint performance, but like I said...A-Rise didn't sing... Like, at all...

They did not hack nor cheat, sabotage anything, bully, harass; but they actually offered Muse to perform on their building is one of the kindest things I have ever encountered also offering help going to their school and going down to let Mse go to their school. In the lore of Love Live μ’s officially is apart of the second and third Love Lives. It’s not really known when the first Love Live was held or who won, but it could be inferred that A-Rise won the very first Love Live.

I always preferred a-rise over saint snow, saint snow felt way too friendly and had way too much screen time imo, meanwhile a-rise felt like a genuine rival group and a real threat to muse I wish they’d get more love outside the show alone

A-RISE and µ's in relation to each other reminds me of the comparison between some of the big j-pop superstars of the 90's and 00's to the more modern day image of aidoru. The superstars seem flawless while the point of say, a typical AKB member, is to be more relatable and not as perfect, the fun being in watching them trying to constantly improve over time. Of course, it can be entertaining to see both kinds of performer. Following IRL j-pop helps me appreciate idol anime even more!

It's sad A-Rise wasn't really well explored, they were far too late despite A-Rise's irl popularity. It's a good thing the team learns not to repeat the same mistake on Saint Snow. They are irl very popular, had their lives, and even their first single now.

A-RISE deserved better and more screentime tbh. It was unfortunate how things turned out with one of the seiyuus retiring as one. They could've been pretty big as one of the live acts considering A-RISE's songs had the most mainstream (not in a bad way) qualities.

Yeah I always said that the only thing which Sunshine does significantly better than SIP is that Saint Snow is portrayed much better than A-Rise. Saint Snow is much more relatable and they get much more screentime than A-Rise, which I prefer. But your point about how A-Rise deliberately has little screentime because they're supposed to be unreachable and perfect is a valid one. I can see the appeal of that and what Sunrise was going for. I'm still asking myself what would have happend if one of their seiyuu didn't quit her job. Would A-Rise appear in LL All Stars? Would they appear at Love Live fest? Would they get an own single like Saint Snow. All of these questions are especially interesting if you consider that A-Rise supposedly became professionals idols after the Love Live story. But maybe that's also the point here. Maybe they don't appear anymore because they're professionals now, and Love Live, as a franchise, wants to focus only on school idols. It's definitely interesting to think about all of this.
