If you want an even more obscure character, that would be Mako Omine, Maki's middle school best friend (appeared in Chapter 7 of Maki's School idol diary novels). Maki describes her as "kind of like Honoka" in terms of personality. She really wanted to go to the same high school as Maki (Otonoki) but instead she ended up going to Maki's dream school. She was a very precious friend to Maki whom loved her a lot (they were pretty close, it seems). There's also Umi's grandmother who appeared once in School idol diary Special Edition (ch 3). She's very strict and, uh, violent to Umi.

I actually did discover Mako while writing this script, but I decided against including her since there's no picture to go along with her unlike Nico's father who is at least partially depicted in that picture frame although obscured. Since she's only really mentioned once I didn't have anything to really go off of, like with Chika/Honoka's dads.

I love that Nijigasaki is bringing back some for the anime, such as Himeno Ayanokoji having direct involvement with Karin's arc and Haruka making an anime debut for Kanata's episode. They even added posters in Karin's episode that showed off a few of them with the same graphics style to the original SIF game. It's one of my favorite nods in the series.

She is white in her newest card. Straight-up white. They didn’t use their old skin tone for her, they made her pinky peachy white. This retcon of her skin color is called whitewashing, and it can be done by anyone with a digital art tool. I can’t believe you need to be told this, but Japanese people are not immune to being racist. Most anime art styles treat people of color incredibly poorly, either lightening their skin so much you can’t tell (like Rakshata) or by portraying them as a racist caricature (Panty and Stocking or any other show that has the circle lips problem).

Some say that the woman that Honoka met in the movie was just a symbol for a future Honoka but Honoka was still holding her mic after she returned to the hotel. Then the next meeting she had with her, Honoka talks about still having the mic and needs to return it back and that Honoka now owns the same model. So...maybe still a theory about a time travelling Honoka. Lol

That's because I left out characters in the anime that had no real impact on the story. Compared to Shima and the rest of Chika's siblings, who had a lot of time to add onto the story, Chika's dad is also left out because there's just nothing that I can really say about them.

Akiru Shinomiya and Sachiko Tanaka are nice, the rest I don't care about, though I do like Seira Kujo's SSR is probably my fav of Seiran's SSRs. Shinonome Academy: okay, we got Kanata and Haruka. this is also one of the schools they butchered in the Nijigasaki anime. I really liked Rika Kamiya (especially pissed off about how they fucked up her character in the Nijigasaki series) and possibly Mizuki Kikkawa. they removed Kanata from the school post-SSR. Also: is Coco Miyashita Ai's cousin or something? Chitosebashi High School: Iruka Suda, I mean, come on. sporty girl, constantly in a swimsuit? count me the fuck in. Nagi Shiraki, Ru Tatara and Yuu Aizawa are cute, Nanaka Morishima is a nice-looking girl Touoh School: oh God, another school they butchered in the Nijigasaki series. Himeno Ayanokouji and Misaki Shido play a relatively big role in said series. I liked those characters in the game. I also liked Fuu Saiki, Tsurugi Kadota and Shun Kurosaki. this school possibly has the best SSRs Shion Girl's Academy: Chiduko/Chizuko Sakamaki is a total pervert if you give her a chance to do anything and Hitomi Shiga (my fav from this school) is cute if you manage to embarrass her. Sayuri Hyodo seems like an interesting character. Sakuya Kurobane you ignore (her and her little sister Sakura Kurobane) until you get to the SSRs Y.G. International School: Leo: as I said: no. Rakshata: also no Isabella: fuck yes Rebecca: piss off with your constant temple visits. Jennifer: yes please. Maria: nah Emma: she didn't have a surname at first. also: no Yukari Saotome: the only Japanese character in this group. Ranpha: fuck off weird thing about Mari's mom: she's Japanese. it's Mari's dad who's non-Japanese. why is she blonde? anime logic.

You're not completely wrong. Even if they were usually just characters you can use to level up others, they also offered a few archetypes done in the Love Live style that otherwise wouldn't have gotten the chance to be expressed.
