Oooops. That should have been shop the PERIMETER of the grocery-store, where the Whole Foods are. Not the middle of the store, that’s the highly processed stuff.

Coach Elizabeth, I love hearing your expertise! I really enjoyed this one on nutrition. I appreciate how you address several eating styles. I myself am vegan and enjoy how you addressed us, and meat-based diets.

Definitely a good point that you made at the start, that there is no perfect diet for runners, just what's perfect for the individual. I know some folks like to eat next to nothing before a run but for me, I need to have my oats, toast with peanut butter and egg whites. I highly agree on the point of eating healthy. It's not that difficult of a task.

Thanks much for putting this content together! I found it interesting that you didn't mention or include "Pasta". What are your thoughts on Pasta and/or carb loading?

Thank you! I was looking for something just this broad with the opportunity to expand education to something specific for a middle school student, runner, with dyslexia who really needs to change diet for many reasons!

Great video! I tend to eat the foods you mentioned which is a good thing except I keep feeling extra depleted in my runs recently. Any advice? Maybe I will start a food diary to track what I eat and how I feel! 👟❤

I run fasted then refuel with beef liver, sardines, avocado and berries. When I get tired of liver I switch to beef heart or ribeyes. 😁

Great advice. Variety is key to good nutrition. My body seems to work better on a mostly plant-based diet, but I do eat meat in moderation, especially fish and salmon that contain healthy fats. Definitively stay away from processed food (aka "not real food" :)) , refined sugar, refined flour, etc. Keep up the good work!

Great video here.. you should do a video on how to prevent from calve cramps or toe cramps! Especially on long distance hill runs.. will be doing a half marathon next weekend and sometimes I cramp up out there like in mile 7.

totally! in the meantime, make sure your heels are always "kissing the ground' on every footstrike, as this helps to relax the achilles and calf enough so that they aren't doing all of the work for the whole run. Good luck!

Hey guys! I have a question I was hoping you could help me out with. I’m training for my first half. It is May 5. I have been running for 9 years but this is the longest race I’ve ever done. The 12 week training plan I’m on has an 11 mile run scheduled for today and a 12 mile run next Saturday. However I have been having some bad shin splints. Is it better to push through my last two long runs to build up mileage or rest to try and alleviate some pain? I don’t want to lose any of the endurance I’ve been building
@TheRunExperience
@TheRunExperience 6 жыл бұрын
It might be safer to work on figuring out where your pain is coming from, and spend some time mobilizing and rolling so that the pain doesn't get worse and cause you to miss you race. Check out our other videos on lower leg health!

No one has answered my question, I wanted to see if it is a good idea to get a Ferratin test?
@roberthoekstra9723
@roberthoekstra9723 6 жыл бұрын
Ferritin test, only if there are other significant indicators of iron deficiency, anemia. Talk to your doctor. If your constantly tired perhaps but over training and a lot of other factors can just as easily be the cause.

Hi, I've been following your videos for quite some time and they have helped me a lot. But one thing I've noticed is that they're more focused on long distance running. Could you guys make a video or a series of videos who want to lose weight and build endurance at the same time? It would be a great help to us :)
@TheRunExperience
@TheRunExperience 6 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! Do you mean related to nutrition or around running training? We've got loads of beginner running videos up on the channel already. You can find those under our beginner running playlist!
@pulkitmalik92

The Run Experience there are videos for beginners but those also I believe are mainly for long distance training. If you could do a video specifically for weight loss through running discussing how we can maximize calorie burn through interval runs etc and yeah maybe a bit about what nutrition plan to follow etc. It would be of great help :) PS: this is by far one of the best running related channels I've come across so far. Keep up the good work

u dont need to tell us this stuff...everybody from the fattest to the fittest already knows what foods are healthy and which arent... the struggle is walking past the section of several rows packed with cookies and candy bars and fried snacks....locking ur hands together so they dont pick up some junk.. and forcing urself to go to that fruit and veggie section...

How about you just let the expert talk? I've never really been serious about a strict diet until now so I came as a beginner for some tips. I had no idea to have nuts and seeds in my diet for a healthy immune system and I wasn't sure about too many fruits because of the sugar. I actually learned a lot from this video. I'm glad you're a nutrition expert but please try to avoid negative feedback I don't want her to skip any basics because of a bad review.

I have a feeling you have a different layout in grocery stores than we do. I don't remember ever being in a grocery store where the fruit and veggie section isn't at the entrance of the shop. The highly processed stuff is closer to the middle and end of the shop. Candy is always close to the cashiers.
