I like the way how this anime put us into a deaf person's perspective by replacing the sounds with either white noise or complete silence when in Yuki's POV. And yeah, about the heavy emphasis on the lips, I think it also serves as a visual aid since there will be tons of lip reading throughout the series. As someone who has Type 2 Diabetes IRL, having both this and The Dangers in My Heart airing on the same day is enough to send me into a diabetic coma.

I watched this anime since the start and it made me fascinated about how a normal person can communicate with a deaf person. Sure, the sign language concept is similar to A Silent Voice but this excluded the violence and distrubing aspect about it. Also the 2019 Kyoto Animation arson made me reluctant to watch that.

While the male MC does start out with certain stereotypes/tropes common in shoujo manga which I don’t like (especially with how he just casually touch a girl he first met), his character is well developed later down the line and turns out to be quite likable.
