Horimiya was refreshing change of pace because it depicted a very realistic story of how relationships really form. There is no grand confession, no quirky drama, no slapstick misunderstandings that are the bread and butter of cookie-cutter copy-paste romance anime. Just people hanging out more and more until they naturally settle into being a couple. It happens seamlessly, so that's what made it very different from the rest of the anime out there.

i liked horimiya but for me it has a unsatysfying ending in episode 10 or so they talked about marriage but it was such a dim conversation he should of kissed her there and i dont like there is only one kiss in the whole series and that one kiss was not satysfying to watch because it was not seted up. the story ends in a moment that want to see more so you are not satisfyed at all with the ending and the manga does not continues it just ends with the anime. There were not that many blushing moments, the relationship felt slow, they did not spiced it up thats why as a super romance fan i say horimiya was badly made but still the characters are too good so watch it

I don't think the romantic type of love is special. And I am started to think that the romantic type of love isn't real. I mean about more than half of romantic couples either break up with each other or divorce each other. I think humans should just ditch concepts like dating, marriage, and pair bonding. I feel like this world would be a much better place without romance than it is with it. It does seem that nearly all fathers are hoping that their daughters never date or get married and remain single for the rest of their lives. Romantic relationships seem like a bad thing since there is a lot of dangers when it comes to them. The overprotective father thing is proof that romantic relationships are a bad thing, and this world would be a much better place without them. If someday that the human race ditches the concept of romance and romantic relationships, and got rid of stuff like dating and marriage, fathers would be happy about it since they wouldn't ever have to worry about their daughters ever dating if that ever happened.

I cant really love an anime with a boring protagonist and I was pleasantly surprised that I loved Shirogane as much as I do since at a first glance he doesnt look that special. Putting Toradora! on the top of the list is a wise decision. It's not just about two people being romantic (like most romance). They've built an inner connection as they learned about each other. They don't love because it's romantic; they love because it's love. Like how Ryuuji cares for Taiga and how Taiga learned to trust. They lessened each other's life burdens simply by them staying side by side. They've loved each other before they even realized it. You'll understand more how good it is when you read the light novel. 'Til to this day, it's hard to find an anime where the characters do have a high level of emotional intimacy and not just some sort of cheesy scenes.

I’m a big romance anime watcher and here are three more “obscure”/less popular anime that you should give a try if you haven’t already! 1. Special A Class (my favorite romance anime of all time. It’s a school anime romance comedy but definitely not your typical one, please give it a try!) 2. Familiar of Zero (completed. Stick through the whole thing because it does get harem-ish, but finishes off strong and just overall very well). 3. Yona of the Dawn (fantasy-ish but still has romance. Not completed, but def a good watch, the manga is good too). As a side note, seeing Clannad on this list made me scream inside because i got flashbacks of the week of me trying to recover from sobbing over the after story lmao

It's a crime that the movie isn't on blu ray. I absolutely love the series. It's interesting hearing the English dub of the movie after rewatching the one for clannad and after story. The entire cast weren't quite used to their roles so it's got a different atmosphere.

An anime i feel like is always slept on and never talked about anywhere despite how good it is is “High Score Girl”. It’s basically a romcom about a guy and a girl playing video games at an arcade, but it develops waaaay beyond that, and the ending hit me so hard I started to tear up a bit even tho I’m one to never cry in front of anime. I honestly recommend watching to anyone in need of romance , it truly is a masterpiece.

People dont understand how good golden time is. So im glad that it got into this list. The amnesia aspect is completely different to other animes, its about a man fighting against his past and overcoming his past self. The amnesia part of the anime is original and is very good at tugging at the heartstrings. If the thought of an entire anime about a person battling with his past self in a series of weird hallucinations and curses doesnt sound interesting then your standards have to be massive.

For me, what I like in romance animes is the time taken to develop their relationship. So I would actually prefer the main character talking a whole godamned season instead of 4 episodes to confess because we would actually get to see how their relationship develops, which imo is more interesting.

I've watched all of these, escept for Maid Sama. And I dropped "Snow white..." and Saekano mid season due to being bored. I can split this on two "top 5"s of my own: Top 5 romantic animes I can rewatch any number of times: 1. My Teen Romantic Comedy (oregairu) - Best MC out of all titles here (MC from Tsuki ga kirei goes second), also someone please take Shizuka... 2. Horimiya - light story that is believable and not slowed down to last for 4 seasons 3. Love chunnibyo and other delusions - Growth of MC durng the series is a pleasure to watch. 4. Rascal does not dream of bunny girl senpai - good mix of different stories and main line development, nicely written characters and decent drawing 5. Rent a girlfriend - 1 season was awesome, but second season was so "we will give you just enough so you will wait for third season" that I'd say it was second biggest disappointment after second season of The Rising of the Shield Hero. Top 5 romantic animes that draw the most emotions: 1. Clannad - on a scale from a "meh" to "I need a napkin" this is easily a box of paper rolls. 2. Your name (kimi no nawa) - the story is good, the music is even better and art style is Makoto Sinkai 3. Your lie in April - nice character development and a heartbreaking plot twist 4. I want to eat your pancreas - a very good balance between romance and drama 5. Golden Time - "Old but Gold" And for others on this list: Tsuki ga kirei - I loved that, besides situated in middle and not high school, MC has more balls than 90% of MCs from other school romantic titles. Teasing master takagi San - a bit too childish for me, if looking for similar, I'd prefer "Don't Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro" Bakemonogatari - I love the art style, just a pleasure to watch how artists play with colors and shapes ReLife - a solid stori with well written characters, but feels a bit secondary in a list of "I got back to childhood" titles The Pet Girl of Sakurasou - A nice friendship story with good animation Kokoro connect - I watched it all but can't really remember anything at all about it... Toradora - when it was a "fresh release" it was a decent title, nowadays it feels good enough to recommend to someone new but not good enough to rewatch again at least not in a couple of years.
