Hi Steve! In regards to the pva glue please try mod podge! I actually did the same method with it and it peeled right off but you need 4 thick coats instead to the point that you can see a thick residue even after it's dried. Afterwards, dig your finger nail into the center of the glued piece (of course when the piece is rock hard) and pull it like you would a mask as it won't peel from the corners adhered to the resin. Also coat the side of your piece to avoid the resin from pulling apart your wood.

I'm glad you did this. I never even thought about the back of pours. I might just have to try pouring a little bit. You make it look easier then most. I have poured on rocks before but never anything else. I may have to branch out. I don't know about cells and what ever, I just want to try pouring some paint. Thanks for these really informative videos.

Interesting experiment. I've seen Elmer's school glue used before and it worked perfectly. Maybe the PVA glue is a little different? My favorite coasters are the ones with the yellow and the black dragons. They really stand out.

I use latex on resin pieces with irregular edges that are very difficult to tape. I do several thick layers. If you are thinking of doing an experiment in the future I will just say this. There are videos of people ripping latex off the back of their resin in one piece with a flourish. You can, of course do this if you so wish, but don't be surprised if the latex takes the resin off the sides of your piece and even chunk out of the resin piece itself 😂😂. I heat the latex up gently and prise up a bit to get started with before removing slowly little bit at a time. Be careful not to overheat the resin with your gun. I tried but could not get cold latex off resin. I use masking tape on wooden boards and MDF . I didn't think latex would stick to MSG as it won't stick to my wood boards. You have consider less drips than me 😂😂😂😂😂😂.

I will use sellotape from now on I wish I’d seen this before I layered my tray lol
@stacy_thecraftycat66113 жыл бұрын
I use latex but on resin and not wood. I usually do one coat and find it pulls right off. Wonder if it is also dependent on the type of latex you use. I use one that is used for masks monster masks.

So this heat resistant resin coating will work just as good as a coaster fully poured with it? Great video.
@vickicole24853 жыл бұрын
I was wondering this as making coasters entirely out of heat resistant is costing a fair bit! How thick does the heat resistant layer need to be roughly, for it to work?
@bonny96803 жыл бұрын
Love the coasters and the dragons look grand. With the PVA and the latex, could you trim them down to the same level so the drips could almost be considered "feet" for the coaster?
